Hi Steve, great video - as always! This season I added a CO2 system of my own design and it keeps the pH at a perfect 7.4 by running 20 minutes a day. Cheers!

We use a Hayward automation system to control pool pH. The system measures pool pH water passing past a probe. The Automation system computer then operates a small pump to deliver diluted muriatic acid to the piping running to the return jets. The acid is stored in a plastic tank and water is added to dilute.

I manually add 4cc of muriatic acid daily. Done

@@drdrew3 I tend to check the chemicals two times per week. Happy New Year Sir.

I wear the long sleeves gloves when adding muriatic acid…. I try to hold my breath when pouring it; however, a mask is in my future…. Thanks Steve👍

Pool store employee states that the other acid does effect the alkalinity just the PH. I normally use baking soda to manage my alkalinity level

Muriatic acid. Baking soda. Liquid chlorine. Easy

Hey Steve, can you give an overview of the type of acid to lower your PH. so they had two types of acids on the shelf muriatic acid, which is the one I normally buy, but they also had another acid on the shelf liquid form to lower the pH, but not the alkalinity. Did not get the name type. Just wondering to see if it better to continue buying the one I normally get or should I give this other acid a try?

Sulfuric acid, fume free and cheaper but not as strong

I can never keep my pool pH low enough (I aim for 7.6). It constantly creeps up to 8 despite adding 30% muriatic acid weekly. (Alkalinity is 100, Calcium 290, chorine 4, CYA 55, gunite pool, NOT salt water pool). Any thoughts?

Research/look into adding Boric Acid (comes in powder form). Pool stores do not sell it. I buy it in 80 lbs bag for about $70 the last time I bought it 2 years ago. And still have some left ( good investment). It doesn’t evaporate and it’s always stays in the water . Excess rain and when you need to drain your pool due to overflow. Then you loose some of the boric acid. 50 PPM is ideal for boric acid level. Boric acid will stabilize your PH , just remember that salt cell generator will always have higher PH level. Which this does not apply to you. If you do go that route pool stores (my store) does not test for boric acid level, you will have to purchase the boric acid test strips. Good luck

I'm running into the issue with having a hard time finding the pure muriatic acid and not the "green" version which is weaker.

I found it at a hardware store.

Ph minus from clorox works fine. Also adding water does good also.

Typo on previous comment It does not effect the alkalinity
