How do you solve an exponential equation with e as the base

👉 Learn how to solve exponential equations in base e. An exponential equation is an equation in which a variable occurs as an exponent. e is a mathematical constant approximately equal to 2.71828. e^x is a special type of exponential function called the (natural) exponential function
To solve a natural exponential equation, we use the properties of exponents to isolate the (natural) exponential functions. Then we take the natural log of both sides. Note that the natural log cancels out the (natural) exponential function (e), leaving out only the exponent.

i have just started this topic and i am really struggling to rearrange a formula i understand i need to use log e on both sides of the equation but thats where im stuck trying to find C when vc = vs ( 1-e -t/rc ) any tips please?

same reason for me, ill help you with your equation, 1) move vs over so vc/vs = ... 2) divide both sides by negative 1 3) multiply both by -1 4) Take ln (ln e = 1 ) 5) exp on e can be moved infront of ln so, ln(vc/vs)= lne * - t/rc (we know lne = 1 ) 6) move rc over, multiply both by -1 so t is positive 7) move ln vc/vs over 8) -t/(vc/vs) is equal to rc 9) move r over !) C= - t * R / (vc/vs) 10) Final equation for C: C = -t*R*Vs / Vc

Why does the ln have e as it's base? Shouldn't loge with the base e be equivalent to lne and loge with base is equivalent to 1. Thus, lne = 1. Correct me if I wrong tho...thank you!
