Dad and I had 4 tractors with Case-O-Matic drive. Never had transmission problems. Great loader tractor. I really had wonderful luck with them.

I spent my teens driving that exact tractor, except in diesel. Never knew how the Case O Matic worked. I don't think the lockup lever had ever been unlocked. In fact, I had no idea what it did.

I doubt you’re the only one with these experiences

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the 730 case matic we had when you let off the declutch it automatically was in slip mode then when you got going you flip the lever up to lock I think there was a mechanism in there when you stepped on the clutch It pushed the lever down to slip mode but I could be wrong it's been years

My father in law has an early round fender 930 diesel standard. Unusual tractor for Northern Indiana.
@tmonteIHАй бұрын
Definitely. Not really a row crop.

Yep starts like a 706 The two of them we have don't have torque amplifiers either . those case tractors in those years pulled way above their horsepower rating and if you looked in there operator manuals they had more options than you could believe as far as configurations go transmissions , tractor , styles over center hand clutch, foot operated standard clutch, case o matic . We had a 730 case o matic row crop style wide front end with the eagle three-point hitch fully optioned tractor Max amount of Wait front and rear and liquid Ballast front and rear , with 15-5-38 rear tires and the factory matched three bottom rollover plow . One time the gauge wheel stop broke and the plow went all way in our hard AZ ground ground to the frame and a pulled the front end of the tractor 3 ft off the ground in a heartbeat and that's with having engine problems at the same time so those things punched way above their weight .

Would agree. Just not the same in modern tractors.

Can still smell the propane, on start up. We had a 811b row crop, wide frontend. Used to to pull 2 14 foot jd single disk drills. In sand here on the red river. I rebuilt the tractor my senior year. Case o matic drives can be very temperamental, basically an direct drive, or over drive. The 800 is a great baleing tractor. The hydrlic pumps were weak. Especially on this one as it has power steering.

How did a country that was engaged in the space race knock out a behind the times machine such as this.Gaszoline and propane " Quaint as the Dickens" . Of course the U.S.S.R was out there in space at the same time and their agricultural kit lacked up to date features.The UK at this time did not space race but we provided modern up to speed tractors for our farmers but of course we did not reach Saturn 5 type prarie machines!. Nice little tractor sounds like a T20 continental .

They go into gear easy if you idle them down.

Allegedly.

I never had the pleasure of driving 1 that wasn't all worn out it kept getting locked between 2 gears so we left it in 2nd and just left the hand clutch in neutral.
@tmonteIHАй бұрын
That’ll happen.

In 1980 I bought a small farm and needed a tractor. My internet was not working well that week so I had to drive all over Texas and Oklahoma to find one. I found a nice 830 diesel in Burkburnett, Texas. It needed a starter as there was not one on it. They wanted $1700 for it and I shopped around for a starter and the cheapest one I could find was $1700. I passed. Wound up getting a Moline M602 for $2000.
