Pressfit or Uncemented total #hiparthroplasty (THA) is an excellent option for patients with healthy bone and can provide bone stock preservation and implant longevity. Over time, the osteophilic (bone compatible) nature of the implant's metal surface facilitates secondary osseointegration, becoming a part of your bone. #pressfit #hipreplacementsurgery

Afterwards, a process called osseointegration happens where the bone will grow into the nooks and crannies in the surface of the implant, essentially fusing it to the bone!

Excellent thought. It is important to make sure that the cup is being pressed into healthy bone. In cases where the hip socket is extremely damaged or bone is extremely thin sometimes the socket Hass to be reconstructed with additional custom metal plates to allow cup fixation they should take your time.

My first hip replacement lasted three years because I didnt listen to the doctor and went back to heavy construction. My second one has lasted 10 years so far and still going strong. A lady I know just had her hip replaced and the doctor installed the part of the joint that goes down inside the thigh bone in a way that made it essentially cocked. This means the ball joint didnt mate up with the socket correctly causing her tremendous pain but she is scheduled for another surgery very soon

@@hippopotaman075 Nice to hear your surgery went and recovery went great. My biggest problems these days is the soreness that comes from say walking around Walmart for 30-45 minutes, I start limping and the fact that my right leg is about 2 1/2 inches shorter than my left leg. I hope you continue to stay problem free but let me leave you with a small piece of advice. Avoid lifting heavy weights and allowing the pressure to weigh on the hip joint. Thats one of the main reasons my 1st hip replacement went bad. I managed to squeeze the gel or whatever it is they use in the hip joint socket that prevents bone on bone contact when the joint rotates

I am an inpatient coding auditor. I love orthopedic surgery. It is so fascinating what we can do to repair the body but also it ability to repair itself.

I manufactured a lot of these. If your implant is 3d printed, a lattice is part of the exterior surface. Its a rough porous surface that allows the bone to grow intervenously. Its similar to a tree growing around a metal fence. A couple years after surgery and your bone is effectively infused with the metal. Thats how the metsl stays in the bone.
