How Does a Light Switch Control an Outlet? Add or Remove it

I am in the middle of changing a switch for the outlet into a switch to control newly mounted ceiling light. When I opened the switch cover, I was so confused because it was a black and white wire on the two end of the switch (I was looking for two black wires). Now I understood why it’s a black and white wire from your diagram. It’s a method to feed only one wire down the switch instead of two.

After changing the outlet back to being unstitched, what do you do with the switch? Do you remove the switch, cap the wires inside, and then just put on a blank wall plate?

Hey. If you only have one neutral, do you just break the tab on the line side?

It does not matter which hot wire you place on the top or the bottom. Flipping the switch up opens the gate to allow the current to flow. However, the hot wires are the only ones that should be attached to a single pole switch
