Half the time pros don’t even break in their glove the glove companies beat it with a mallet for a bit and then they go play catch and it’s good
@ryancrozier79413 жыл бұрын
I have to say that I'm a purist when it comes to breaking in my glove. Bend it a little bit in the creases on where your hand naturally curves in and then playing catch. Nothing else. Do you want your glove perfect for you? Play catch with the glove and use it your way then it will shape perfectly to how you use and play with it.
@sneer222 жыл бұрын
I agree, the best way to break in a glove is to play catch with it. Steaming or wetting your glove can invalidate its warranty, although I've never known anyone to have a claim on a glove. If you take care of it, it will last a long time. I don't recommend using glove oil because after repeated use your glove can become heavy. Cream conditioner or even shave cream is better.
@kurtissjacobs60462 жыл бұрын
Agree. I had three gloves growing up, never oiled them, just flexed the creases a lot and played catch a lot. No oil. I did put the first one under a mattress, but the other two I just played catch. 50 years later, those gloves are not in the best shape on the inside, and maybe they would still be fine if I had oiled them a lot...but who really cares 50 years later, I'm not in a league anymore! But Ryan is right, if you only break it in by playing catch, "then it will shape perfectly to how you use and play with it."

You have to use a shaving cream with lanolin in it first of all. Barbasol sensitive is about the only one you can use on it now a days. So if you arent using lanolin shaving cream you already are doing it wrong. And it does work, it's pretty much the same shit that's in "HOT GLOVE TREATMENT"

@mq422 жыл бұрын
You don't. Shaving cream will soften the leather at first but it also pulls moisture out of it and causes the leather to break down. Seventy years ago, shaving creams contained a lot of lanolin which is why people used it on their gloves. If any shaving creams today have lanolin, it is such a small amount that it isn't going to condition your glove. When people say this is an "old school" method, they mean they haven't learned anything new since then.

You should never get a glove that is "already broken in". Some gloves have the break in process started on them but ultimately it should be the player who completes that process. You want to make sure the glove is to your liking and by finishing the break in process on your own you can shape it how you want it.

PooChunks 123 don’t lay it flat it will destroy the glove faster and it will the glove floppy get some really warm water at least until you can see stream come out of it dip the glove in for 20 seconds then hit the gloves pocket and palm padding with a glove mallet never lay it on its side ruins the pocket and gives the glove a over laps if you lay a glove down lay it facing down not on the side use glove conditioner and play catch keep the glove in warm area not a oven melts the leather like a car overnight on the dashboard repeat this every other day and you’re glove will be broken in in less then 2 weeks also don’t dip the glove in the hot water if it’s white unless if you don’t care about the gloves color then by all means do it
