I play fire mage because it’s fast paced and the abilities have unique interactions which is very fun to me. Shadow is just a poorly designed class which is also not fun haha. So yes more buttons doesn’t necessarily equal more fun but when they interact with each other in a fun way they are fun.

It is good to have a simple spec considering mythic raid and M+ with certain affixes give us a million mechanic to deal with already. Not everyone enjoys juggling balls while riding a unicycle. I personally prefer to do one of them but not both at the same time.

im a destro warlock main and i like the build and spam filler and spend big single target or aoe spells. i just like feeling like a howitzer and looking dope doing it. Simple can be fun as long as it achieves the power fantasy and visual coo factor, atleast for me personally.

The talents add a lot more interaction than he's giving it credit for. Living Flame can extend the Fire Breath dot. Also disintegrate can pandemic, and you can gain or lose dps by way of the pandemic functionality. So if you cast a base disintegrate that uses your essence you get 4 ticks of damage, but if you pandemic the last tick, your next disintegrate does 5 ticks. That extra tick benefits from what affects modify the new channel, not the one it came from. So if you use disintegrate from a essence burst, but then pandemic it into a a regular essence spending disintegrate you've lost damage if you take Titanic Wrath, which boosts essence burst casted essence spenders. But sure, pretend it's too simple because it has 1 aoe spender and 1 single target spender, ...like starsurge/starfall, divine storm/templar's verdict, etc.

The mentality that classes should be more complicated to play is a boomer mentality. IMO, classes needed complexity in older expansions when the actual mechanics of raids and dungeons were bare bones AF because that’s where the challenge of the game came from. Nowadays, the challenge of the game should come from the actual pvp/m+/raid and not your rotation. We need to move away from the mentality that we need to have 20 buttons to press for a spec to be respectable or fun.

​@@Bluefooted23 the issue is. its fine to say 20+ Rotational buttons is likely to tedious to the masses, however the ST Rotation of evoker right now, Is spam Disintergrate. if we were to look in depth here, the Evoker class actually does have alot, and doesnt rly need more abilities, its mechanic of charge up however needs alterations, to make things fit in closer and give tip the scales More interaction in its ST ROtation, its mechanic kinda removes the need to bundle tons of abilities in. but when the charge up system isnt making enough changes. its wasted. if u moved Eternity surge. to do X Amount of Damage that spreads uptoo 8 (i.e splits the damage between uptoo 8 targets hit) they could make each charge of eternity surge provide something different. for example. you dont need to add buttons to add interesting interactions between its abilities...

This is why I love enhancement shaman and fury warrior. Constantly keeps you busy reacting to procs and quick gameplay. I leveled a BM/MM hunter to lvl 45 and just couldn't see myself ever logging into it again... 3 button "rotations" are just not fun. But, to each his own.

Re: Fire Breath: Holding it in doesn’t increase the DOT damage per tick, it increases the duration. It will always tick for the same amount, so it’s often not worth charging it for small packs of mobs that won’t last very long.

you ignored charged blast, every instance of blue damage increases your next pyre by 5% stacking up to 20 times. I'd imagine you would want to weave this empowered pyre into your shattering star windows (pre-use fire storm before shattering star by up to 8 seconds if you didn't take focusing iris or 6 if you have) > cast shattering star > burst. fire breath always does the same total damage, charging it makes it deal more instant damage and shortens the DoT while low ranked fire breath spreads its damage more into the dot and less upfront. You didn't look into leaping flames / burnout synergy to change aoe rotation. please inform yourself more before judging a spec like this.

So many people commenting without really knowing enough. This video while making some solid points on the spec is missing a lot. The problem with Devoker is that its boring, but to actually play this in a min/max way in a hard raid fight is absolutely not going to be easy. It has so much more nuance to its rotation. Weaving your azure strike with your windows to spam living flame and then using essence spenders is the CORE rotation. Weaving in your cooldowns and maximizing uptime on your short cooldowns and procs is going to make it quite a bit more to manage and in my opinion puts this spec much higher on the list of difficulty than many other damage specs in the game currently. Its not as simple as fury warrior, but its not as hard as outlaw rogue either.

Im really skeptical for their pvp performance! The charging abilities are basically unusable against both melee and ranged, no real "burst" window outside of dragonrage/deep breath. All their real damage is interruptable, and doesnt have good set up cc like stuns etc

I play mostly melee Evoker is my 3 or 4th alt i play it on beta, i don't have a problem to play simple specs except Guardian Thrash 1 button spam Prot paladyn press 4 low cd abilites all time frost mage Ice lance bm hunter all 4 specs bored me very fast, some are simple but fun in some way or don't

Its just weird that they refer to it as an advanced class still. Preservation is maybe a bit advanced. Devastation though? Simple as could be. Especially with the current tuning xD In most cases, pyre and firestorm aren't worth pressing until 5+ targets. Better to take the eternity surge crits give you essence burst and eternity surge hits twice as many targets then spam disintegrate

Devastation is mediocre in Single Target, but we can tailor talents around it to be decent enough. But it feels like the spec is designed with M+ and AOE in mind. It's still a more complex spec than Fire Mage as an example. On Pre-Patch my Fire Breath's in 260 ilvl gear can hit for 100k per mob at Empowered Rank 4. It trucks. But it need some polish still

I suspect evoker was designed with console gaming in mind... The style lends itself to controller play. Not only that but the simplicity is decieving. Your holding abilities are situational in terms of aoe and therefore flexible without having to respec. The simplicity of the rotation also allows for good players to make the most of the abundant utility at their disposal. Not saying it's at all difficult but it's clearly not meant to be.

Evokers don't have convenant specific stuff. They have basic conduits and a 'unity' legendary that just adds stats. You can see this on wowhead, under the Shadowland SoulBind Tool. Changing covenants doesn't change what any of these do.

I know you were going for every possible spell cast but I think it's going to be worse than that. I really think you're going to be working to cast as few spells as possible by getting your Essence Regeneration up with Haste and Talents and just spamming Disintegrate over and over. If you're not spamming disintegrate, you're using a spell that gets you more disintegrates like Empowers with Power Swell, Dragonrage, and Hoarded Power.
