I love to watch her with you Marci as she watches the camera and smiles, she is a joy that overflows in the midst of learning how to do life with medical complexities and a limb difference. Freya is such a darling little girl! I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Special Needs people. It's nice that she's learning Sign Language to communicate. Years ago I was a professional Sign Language Interpreter for USU, I interpreted for church meetings and Logan LDS Seminary. I also worked for our School District as a Teacher's Aid for the Special Education program and helped to teach a little girl Sign Language. I've known Sign Language for 43 yrs. and went to college for it. I also worked with the Deaf Community and had friends who used Sign Language. You don't have to be deaf to use it. I didn't know if you were aware that there are 3 kinds of Sign Language: SEE (Signed Exact English), PSE (Pigeon Sign English which is most commonly used) and ASL (American Sign Language). It's more difficult to learn because it's not English Order and is most commonly used in the Deaf Community. I thought this might help you. By the way, I live in Idaho.

Marci, you have such a beautiful family. I do love to watch this channel. When I was young, I used to babysit a lot. I used to often watch the neighbor kids next door, two little boys. One of the boys was non-verbal. At that time he did not have a diagnosis. I learned some ASL from babysitting. Now, I only remember the sign for more. I loved and still love kids. They are all so special. Sadly, I was not able to have babies of my own. But, I have nine nieces and nephews. I was very fortunate to get to spend a lot of time with them. In addition, I now have six great nieces. ❤❤😊😊❤❤

I don't know if Freya goes to Primary Childrens but if she does they might have a sign language program through OT there for her. Elisabeth Harris here on KZbin doesn't teach sign but does shorts with sign as well as speaking. She recently has done some where she's suggested good KZbinrs to learn from. If you do look on here be sure the person is actually deaf and be careful that the person isn't British and using BSL. It is possible if Freya chooses to use a letter board for communicating as she gets older and learns how to spell words she could have a laminated letter board that could be suck to a surface that couldn't or if dropped wouldnt break. It makes communication slower but totally doable! I've also seen wheelchair users with huge talkers that sit on their laptrays in front of them like a computer on a desk. Typically once kids learn an Ipad is there voice they arent as likely to break it but accidents always can happen!

Stephanie explained that Sebastian has a severe brain disease in addition to CDLS, which is responsible for many of his struggles as well. Does Freya have any conditions in addition to CDLS which cause challenges or does she deal with strictly CDLS? I had never heard of this syndrome so was just trying to figure out what was due to CDLS and what was brain disease related while watching Sebastian to get an understanding of what CDLS entails. Hope that made sense. Have a great weekend!

It makes life a bit more challenging when a child has a fiercely independent streak, but it’s amazing to watch them discover what they like and make their own choices as to how they want to do something. They become so adaptive and creative and more likely to try new things. I wouldn’t be surprised if Freya decided to use her own combination of communication methods. 😊❤️

@Freyasluckyarm Жыл бұрын

@Leslie_ann_h Жыл бұрын
Tbh, I'm almost 35 and I still use a bottle...... because I have a bad tendency to drop cups or opened bottles. So I use a drip/leak proof sippy spout by the brand Pura or bottle nipple by nubyon the stainless steel Pura bottles. Granted, I have a 22oz bottle by Pura. But, it has saved my bed and my clothing SO. MANY. TIMES! Personally, if something works for someone then they probably shouldn't change what is working a whole lot. And, as I'm also on the spectrum and have high levels of anxiety along with tourettes and an absolute shit show of chronic pain issues, I still use a pacifier (it is an adult sized one by Little for Big) to help reduce my need to use my available doses of the crap ton of meds I'm on (because tolerance to them is a thing along with addiction potential although I lack some of the body/enzyme/neurotransmitter traits that would make addiction to the specific meds possible).
