As a Tom, I have mixed feelings about this. I don't like it but it's true.

As a Plat player, I feel this. I haven't taken the time or played consistently to get out of it, mostly due to not feeling I have a real main. I placed Gold on Marisa and didn't want to slog through Plat. I placed Plat 2 or 4 on Honda and JP, pre-Ed release, and wasn't sure I wanted to main either of them. I waited for Ed since I was an Ed main in SF5. He's changed SO much, that I placed in Gold with him when I did my placement matches. I'm now Plat 1 and feel like I am going to stick to Ed, despite all the changes. However, I do consider going back to JP, not just cause I placed higher, but enjoying some of the playstyle which is so different. I never really played zoners before and was really enjoying aspects of JP before I stopped and waited for Ed. That said, despite some muscle memory to work through and continued learning the character, I am really enjoying Ed. I am arguably struggling to make it to Master, because that is a goal of mine. I just need to stick to the character and actually play more to make it happen.

Slogging through ranked is more fun in this game. You get win streaks until plat. Barely lose any pointscompared to winning, it’s the perfect mode to practice your character

After some rough times being hard stuck in plat, I actually feel a little better for having seen this. Thanks Strider.

I’ve never understood why the FGC has such a self-deprecating culture. I’ve beaten legend rank players while at 1600 MR, you’re not that far away at all and it’s just a matter of time before you can consistently beat those players. There are also many people who don’t even play ranked like angry bird

This is the problem with a lot of fighting games. You got dudes like strider, that have been good so long that they dont remember what it's like to come up from shit. Then you got dudes who watch the shit trying to relate to be cool, when they probably aren't on that level. I maintain that it's killers at every level and ranks don't mean near as much as we think they do. If they did, CPT would be like a pro sports season. With tournaments almost daily. Why? Because if we went by ranks only... there'd be WAYYYYY more tournament level players since there's lots of people in Master/legend rank. 🤷🏿♂️ If SF 6 adds more training tools like the ghost battle feature in Tekken? I feel like the hierarchies will be shaken up. Cuz SF players pro level are a little arrogant.

Getting out of Diamond was not a big problem for me, but since i play on master it is hard for me even reach 1600 mr. I always thought players in gold or platinum are scrubs and players with high mr points think i am a scrub, that´s how it is. But in the end we should not forget why we play this game, to have fun. So there is always someone who is better as you who cares. People who are bad today can turn in to a beast someday. I remember my time in sf4...I got my ass kicked for 3 months straight everytime i pick on a new characker before i was able to to hold my ground. If you dont loose you motivation and your fun you can be improve, doesent metter what other people say. Sry for my bad english

Do you have any tips for a platinum 1 player new to fighting games?😊
@scrubzbane8 ай бұрын
I don't think you can really separate it, skill exist on a spectrum of complete day 1 beginners to the top of the top. And the lack of the experience doesn't mean they shouldn't count, just like the small number of players are the very top shouldn't count due to low players either.

Nah sf6 is very different from other games, im diamond and its the same as gold. Its extremely easy to rank up without improving much, just by playing more you will rank up but sill be at beginner level, the game is designed to make you feel better than you actually are. When i got platinum i thought there would be no more beginners... now ive played against master rank players alot of them had no idea what they were doing
@Crouton-8 ай бұрын
I noticed this as well watching random youtube videos involving master rank players. I noticed some of them were still doing gimmicky or awful choices and it had me scratching my head "how am I in playnum but he's in master?", the dude just plays the game more.
@thehobojarpen8 ай бұрын
@Crouton- True, but even then, the vast vast majority of Master players will beat Plat players easily without blinking

I'm unranked in street fighter 6 I've never played a person online before because it sucks playing from Hawaii and using Wifi, I tried only the computer and sometimes played with my family although they hate playing me, I tried casual online matches for the first time and I casually smoked everyone I came across I never knew how much better I was than everyone in lower ranks diamond and below my only real challenge before this was lv8 CPU 😅

Why would we compare these people to the best people? Everyone is worse than the best people. By definition. We didn't really say anything meaningful there, my mans. Conversationally, among us mere mortals that aren't literally some of the best in the world, we compare ourselves to Most Players.
@801striderFGC8 ай бұрын
This discussion was mostly a reply to a comment on chat, might be obvious but many do still compare themselves to the top level without giving themselves credit for the progress made

This! Its as if ppl are begging to figure out there are internediate players. Plat - Diamond are Simply players at the intermediate level we understand the game to an extent but we have our flaws. Lets be happy that this game has such a wide player base meaning more people are picking up the game and continuously playing it

I think it's a problem that most people are in plat. Ranking up is too easy in SF6. I'm plat 4 myself, but I think in a more balanced ranking system I would be gold 1 or something like that.
@Zades1458 ай бұрын
Why? Just because gold would be closer to the ‘middle’ of the ranks? Most people are in plat just because that’s where the winstreak bonus stops. So it’s mostly plat 1 that’s inflated. The drop off from plat 1 to plat 2 or 3 is fairly significant. IMO whether the bulk of players are in plat or gold is just semantics. I think platinum is a decent place for the ‘grind’ to start, and it incentivizes new players to try and work towards master because it’s only two ranks away.

If ranking up is so east why are you still in Plat??
