How does the Game Development Pipeline really work?

great video, example really helps. I was wondering if this process is applicable to Inde game development as well, where the team size might not be more than 2-3 people or even solo. Should they go round robin wearing multiple hats, or would it be better to follow a more basic process than what this video explains?

Hi there! From Troy: There is no right or wrong answer for what game development pipeline, process or tools are best for a project. Every team, project and person works differently. Smaller teams who are working together can reduce some amount of process, but I still encourage it. Some fundamentals like rapidly prototyping ideas should still usually come after some paper design and so on. Even solo, you not think that things like documentation and process are unnecessary. They are a VERY useful tool to help you know what you are building and attempt to validate ideas before you build it as this usually takes longer. But... everyone is different and a pipeline like any other tool can be your best friend or worst enemy depending on how you use it. Learn to ask "WHY" and understand the problem as only you can make the final decision on what is working for u and your team, while also be opening to change your process when needed as well.
