Hey great videos! Have you done a dyno test between the restricted junior max 125 vs restricted senior max 125? Would be interested to see
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
I have done, the Max is solid, but in EVO form, its all about the senior max for the extra RPM

Thanks for showing us this data. Karters should be able to view the BOP report data not just the summary telling us what KA make rule changes. Would you please include the results of a JMax dyno test? These have never been class winning engines against X30 or everyone would have them so who has the restrictor had to be changed from 26mm to 24.5mm? I feel like the attitude more about go buy an X30 or just lump it. Not happy with their decision. Incidentally, when the BOP summary and rules changed, the JMax retained the 26mm size but was changed in January to 24.5. I’d like to hear your comments but if the dyno says it has an advantage at 26mm then fair enough but I doubt that will be the result. Many thanks. Mike

the JMax at the higher weight was struggling against the other 2 engines anyway, IMO. maybe now it's lighter, it's back in the game. but with a 1.5mm small diameter restrictor, I would imagine that would struggle

Hey, enjoy and learn loads from your videos. I have a pre ego Rotax max 125 with water leaking from the engine opening. Do you have a video addressing water pump problems and repair? Thanks

No, sorry but you will need to split the cases to do this job

As expected from what we've all seen on track, rotax gets walked at ippy on the straights, top end is non existent, I lost 800rpm and 4kmh just swapping old restrictor for new, it didn't need changing, maybe 2kg weight adjustment either way for the x30 or rotax, I went 4 tenths slower with 7kgs less and new restrictor, nowhere near parity, evidently KA don't want people running rotax. Need a rotax class
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
yeah the top end speed is what most guys are complaining about.

So is it better to chuck a jmax barrel on. Or buy an x30? Generally speaking restricted rotax were getting spanked last year anyway. Nice vid as always.

the JMax are not bad option, and I forgot about them. has anyone used them lately ? otherwise take the restrictor out altogether and race open. thanks for tuning in Freddy

Hi Derek, great vid. Is the restricted PRD Galaxy a good option in 2022?

Is this a common Spec in Australia? In Europe a Junior Max is making 26hp and 2,000 rpm more than that set up, with a European Senior Max making 32 hp.
@PowerRepublic11 ай бұрын
Every one is different. I mean I can make the dunk read junior max 260hp if you really wanted it. But it is all relative the testing you do v’s other engines you do on the same machine. The absolute number outcome is not as critical
@ot77racing2711 ай бұрын
@PowerRepublic 100% correct. Just done 3 engines back to back, same carb, same exhaust, same air box, and with the Dyno bullshitometer set to 0 to not 'raise' the final readings. Seen 2hp gains with a quick click of a button.

I’m new to the Rotax restricted class and was wondering if I need to run a smaller jet size with the restrictor in ? And will I need larger jets when I move up to unrestricted?
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
Hey Luke, first reports are go larger in jets to a 125 from 120. and yes normally you would go up in jets for unrestricted but we will have to wait and see

@@PowerRepublic yeah right, what does a kart weigh these days? I’m looking at will power/fa/KR and OTK with a rotax or x30.

If I'm reading this graph right, both engines at 11,500 RPM the Rotax looks like it's making about 5HP less. Is that right?
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
Yeah Rotax is not in the excellent range there

@@PowerRepublic I'm not sure that small advantage it has down low is gonna make up for that big of a difference at the top end. Just in terms of the % of time spent above or below 8K RPM

I think it's stupid I have 9+kg of lead on my kart to keep me in tagR light. Lowering the min weight makes it more difficult for most. But I'm just 1 person. I'm glad l changed over to KNSW since l only race around NSW, we haven't recieved this rule change yet. But interesting to see how it goes and what others think
@PowerRepublic2 жыл бұрын
yeah lead sucks but its the only fair way for drivers of different weights to get it ON, fairly. yeah we will see over the next few months how things transpire. thanks heaps for tuning in

KA needs to rethink their bullshit parity rules if they want to increase entries across the board, instead of lining their pockets.

Can we make a 25.5mm restrictor for us Non Evo guys? 😂😂

Absolutely! the restrictor size of weight limit needs to shift massively to bring these engines together. Makes it really difficult for us trying to get into the sport on a budget

I’m a bit confused on this restrictor stuff. It makes sense for LO 206 . Why should development be stoped. Why should advancement be denied. To me it’s no different than making the leader of the race , slow down so everybody else can catch up. It’s not just drivers competing, engine manufacturers are also competing.
