Donna is so underrated as a songwriter, producer, and overall artist. She deserves all the recognition! Her catalog is amazing

I've always said that I Feel Love is the song that electrified disco. Before that song disco was mainly strings and horns. I Feel Love totally changed the game almost overnight. It's nice to see Donna Summer's massive contribution to pop music hasn't been forgotten. ❤ She broke boundaries and rules during a time when African American female performers were expected sound like Aretha Franklin, not Pat Benetar. She walked her own path, and it made it so much easier for those who would soon follow in the path she blazed; Madonna being the biggest beneficiary of Donna's contributions.

learned something interesting recently. i had long known of the stonewall riots, which happened at a gay bar in nyc when patrons got tired of being harassed by the police, and helped spark the whole gay rights movement. what I didn't know was the stonewall was largely dance-oriented, with most of the space being taken up by two dance floors. makes me think music and dance were somehow connected into or a major back-story part of the riots and helped directly or indirectly with the lgbt movement
