@JoshPhoenix11
@JoshPhoenix11 3 ай бұрын
Yeah this is only the second time I've ever heard this and only the first time actually being applied in a clinical context. It was talking about the outcomes as an adult of childhood abuse. And that its shown that an over-appreciated childhood has the same outcomes as an under-appreciated childhood when it comes to learning and developing critical life skills necessary to function as an adult. It has the same disabling result as a child who never had a loving supporting safe home. I saw this like maybe 10 years ago yet this is the only time I've seen it addressed. Yet its become so much more prevalent in todays society with a whole generation now being effected just through social medias like TikTok. It might not seem related but its the over-appreciated attention and self image from chasing 'likes' and followers and a completely inflated artificial reality and mirror that they're seeing themselves by.

People laughing and saying bad stuff about her nuts ngl, I totally understand where she is coming from. I am not a brat or anything but I am a single child whose both parents have a job, my parents never had time for me, Idk how it feels to go on a picnic with my parents or do some sorta activity with them. I got my first phone at the age of 10 ( i am 17 rn) I was spoiled with money from a young age I was given whatever I needed and some of my wants were fulfilled as well. My parents kinda replaced their love with money when she said her mother never drives her anywhere and that she's always working and never has time for her Ik how it feels and she doesn't even attend school meaning she might not have that many friends.....she might be lonely. I do understand her and why she is behaving like this if my parents were richer like her's I might have turned out just like her but my parents are from an upper-middle-class family so not all of my wishes were fulfilled Ik how to take no as an answer. I think what she actually needs rn is time and love from her mother and her mother should explain her that money doesn't grow on trees, one has to work hard in order to earn it.

I'm not gonna lie. I was pretty entitled when I was below 17 years. My mother spoiled me a lot and I became really self-centered. When my parents told me to get a job I also was a bit reluctant at first because I didn't know if I could get off my lazy rear and get stuff done. Now it's 7 years later. I've worked for 7 years in multiple different jobs and while I'm still studying, I'm proud of myself that I can take care of myself and buy the things I want while also being able to save money and becoming a lot more down-to-earth and independent. Lots of love to my parents for opening my eyes and forcing me out into the world to find my path. ❤

They told me “ if you want something then you work for it!” Which I did and got a job at Chick-fil-A @ age 15. I’m 18 and bought my own car and able to splurge on myself if I chose to every now and then. It could work the opposite where children realized their parents don't have the means to get a decent job so the children who become adults won't be disappointed to start off setting the pace to work early on before they finish school to help out. One thing is to help out but not to be a permanent fixture of working for this family. Later to give up our lives to selfish adults that don't want to work at all. As they say, a family that works together is a happy family but not one that takes advantage and generosity of their children to help out.

It appears the mother has "bought" her daughter's love through money, gifts, material possessions. The girl was literally groomed to become an entitled brat! I blame the mother for this, not the girl. And I thought it was cruel when the audience laughed at her when she cried. She was truly upset, and she's only 15 years old. I am NOT excusing or validating her behavior and think she should get a job and learn responsibility. But the whole situation is not only her fault...she is the byproduct of bad parenting.

Thank you.... I think a lot of people missed this. We have a tendency to be nasty about 'spoilt kids' because they can be a pain; but really, most kids try to push the barriers and take liberties at a certain age, and it's up to the parents to put boundaries in place. If they don't you'll get a spoilt or unruly child. And worst thing is, the child will have a lot of social problems as they grow into adulthood. As irritating as people might find this girl, how can we expect her to do the right thing if she hasn't had a the firm parental boundaries?
