Silent Night is such an amazing song and despite not being very heavy on the "rock" sound during the chorus and in general, it still feels VERY Dreamcatcher somehow. Awesome video as always, you definitely deserved 149k subs :D
@AZODi4 жыл бұрын
yeah for sure! deja vu is way more rock right? haha that heavy guitar sound, even tho its not played in a heavy way with distortion etc it is still a distinctive sound, due to the guitar, pick ups, low strings, that might be why it still sounds and feels DC, cause its the same kinda of instrument used, just played in a different way IMO!
@devilix1239874 жыл бұрын
True! I also think their vocals stand out quite a lot on their own, once you've heard a track by them, you're likely to recognize those same vocals in a different setting, something that can't necessarily be said for all vocalists imo (not that 'common' voices are a bad thing, especially if you want something to fit a particular mold)
@moon-cf2vw4 жыл бұрын
AZODi have you listened to sleepwalking? It’s another one of dream catchers songs that’s has a similar sound.
@spiralwarrior65694 жыл бұрын
I think Silent Night is a fusion of Kpop and Prog. It's perfectly fine in Prog-Rock to change the BPM of the song or to do unexpected things, in fact, that is rather the norm. This is the first time this is done (at least I haven't heard it before) and it is done so well. I personally would have preferred something else in the end part (not a trance/techno fan), but that doesn't take anything away from the innovation performed here. And can we just note for the record that the vocals here are fantastic? Not surprising for Dreamcatcher, as they are massively talented, but they really shine here.

Nice analysis of one of my favorite songs by Dreamcatcher! What I love about Silent Night, in my opinion, is how LEEZ and Ollounder use the barebone structure of bigroom house and make it their own. The epic buildup to a more focused chorus section is very bigroom house, as does the 128 BPM section near the end. The 128 BPM section is also unique in a way that it uses syncopated structure usually heard in bigroom tracks (I'm thinking of several Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike tracks here) and puts hard-hitting lead synth instead, which makes the section semi-hardstyle/jumpstyle. I think the decision to utilize the structure of bigroom house is smart because it heightened the grandiose quality of the song, but with enough creative spins to emphasize the dark fantasy concept of Dreamcatcher.
@AZODi4 жыл бұрын
that a very interesting read, thanks Rio! I can safely say I don't know that about bigroom house! glad you enjoyed the video!

Fantastic video once again! I love the editing, it's super hilarious 🤣 Silent Night is a devisive B-side for us InSomnias. One camp is hardcore rock-metal, gravitating towards tracks like Goodnight and Scar; while the other absolutely adores Silent Night, Sleepwalking and Scream. It's so refreshing to hear from a music producer that the actual sounds Ollounder and LEEZ use are in fact guitars! InSomnias label Silent Night as electronic, EDM, also Scream, while you keep opening our eyes that it's actually rock/metal based. It's fascinating to me. I say this, but the Fandom is extremely inclusive, everybody has their preferences, but respect and love is the norm. We can't love DreamCatcher enough. Ollounder and LEEZ are the eighth and ninth members. Please consider listening to the demo LEEZ recorded for the title track, Deja Vu. He actually sings it 1 key higher than the girls... He's an insanely talented vocalist himself. Cheers!

Silent night is one of my fav, not only coz of its brave push towards mixing genres but the progression makes it tuff for you to follow . Your mix with a different amp made that riff a complete metal sounding one. The crowning moment is Dami's Rap, Even though it's very short, this made me think Dami needs solo with the same heavy beats as backing. 🥰 I believe they made two different music piece and glued it together.
@AZODi4 жыл бұрын
for sure that would sound great! its a super short rap isnt it! crazy how heavy it goes if you just change the settings on the amp right? haha

Silent Night is my fav DC b-side, and one of my favorite kpop songs of all time. When I first heard the end, I immediately thought of Le Nocturne de Lumière by BT - I don't know if LEEZ or Ollounder are BT fans, but that shift from 4/4 at 80 to 3/4 at 120 over the bassline was something he did back in 2010. And as a former raver, the hardcore feel really hit me hard (that 3/4 part is really straight out of late 90s hardcore). Also, I think the low guitar is actually a bass; it sounds like it's active single coil pickups, which are super rare on a guitar.

I love this song and I really think it does unique things in the k-pop genre, but I don't think it is that special when comparing it with other k-pop songs. I mean, we all know that k-pop isn't really a genre, thus letting it have a whole lot of genres and different ideas under one "genre". The song is cool and I've never heard anything like it, but if there was some place where I would have expected a song like this, that was k-pop. Also, the thing about having the chorus split in two isn't unique at all, it is actually kind of the norm in k-pop to split the chorus in two. Some songs just play the A-chorus in the first chorus, and then play the full chorus in the second, making the payoff even bigger and leading nicely to a bridge (VIXX's Fantasy does this); some songs play the full chorus in the first chorus, and then just play the A-chorus the second time and go straight into the bridge carrying the energy of the chorus (MONSTA X's Shoot Out does this); some wait until after the bridge to give you the full chorus and make it feel really big and satisfying (Izone's La Vie en Rose does this). And there are songs that split the chorus in three parts when the producers go creative and it's so fucking cool when the chorus of a song goes crazy and lasts 1 and a half minutes (KARD's Red Moon is a great example of this. The song is just 3 minutes long and the whole last minute is just chorus, the song doesn't even have a bridge and it's only verse-chorus-verse-chorus but is so fun and powerful AND FUCKING UNDERRATED OH MY GOD WHAT A GOOD SONG!). This makes it kind of predictable that k-pop songs have two-part choruses, and it gives the opportunity for experimenting with really creative structures that wouldn't be considered otherwise. For example, Red Velvet's Dumb Dumb has a two-part chorus, split, as you say, in A-chorus and B-chorus... and they split it through the song. We hear two parts of the chorus independently before we hear them play together and it works so well keeping the song moving forward and never feeling repetitive. The structure of the song ends being something like: Intro (actually B-chorus) - Verse 1 - A-chorus - Verse 2 - B-chorus - Verse 3 (verse 1 again but different) -Full chorus - Verse 4/bridge 1/rap - Actual bridge - Hyped A-chorus - Verse 1 again - Hyped B-chorus. There's something about this structure that I find veeeeery satisfying and just love it. I'm not trying to be annoying or anything. This isn't hate in any way. I agree with the video in everything. It's just that I'm very passionate about k-pop's musical uniqueness and I just want to share it with anyone interested in reading it. The comment ended up being a tiny essay on k-pop's choruses but if even one person goes out of their way and listens to that KARD song it'll be worth writing this. Also, if you like Silent Night, listen to In The Frozen from Dreamcatcher's latest album. It's similar to Silent Night in many ways, but bigger and more hyped. You'll probably like it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Yeah you are right, A and B choruses aren’t rare and are in fact very common in Kpop (I talk about them a lot in my react videos) what IS rare in Kpop is changing a song to an unrelated BPM mid song and using a low tuning / string on metal guitar in a pop song 😊 don’t forget it’s not always all about the chorus being different! thanks for your comment!

The way you used words as girl groups/bands. Lol, lights as light from death note and happiness as the Japanese girl group lmfao. Anyways thats the reason i love dreamcatcher so much. They are hella talented, do check out their latest album.

Nice😍😍😍 but you forget to give credit to the girls. Without their voice, none of this will happen. I doubt that there's a girl group out there can bring this on the table like they do😁
