Whoever’s idea it was to change MINX to Dreamcatcher and give them a rock concept deserves an award because their music stands out so so much. The whole album is incredible! I highly recommend it. Also, I hope Cherry Bullet - Hands Up is on your list to react? I’d love to know your thoughts - the instrumental is so fresh and quirky.

kylepop the ceo really cares deeply for the girls, which was y he disbanded “Minx” coz they flopped. Although the rock part im sure the girls had some say in it coz Siyeon and Jiu are into that type of music.

I feel like although this is definitely their loudest title track I actually feel it has the most pop approach compared to any of their past stuff. Which definitely makes it feel really unique up against their past title tracks
@VII07774 жыл бұрын
I don't know... I'd say that Deja Vu is simultaneously one of their softest tracks and their hardest/loudest. The chorus is so immense and the verses so sparse.
@Ravenscannotfly4 жыл бұрын
@@VII0777 oh no by poppy I don't so much mean soft. I'm more meaning that the song has a very pop approach to it's writing and song structure Like it has a lot of qualities where If ya switch out the more rock instruments and played the song with more synth based sounds. It'd still work. Where's I feel their other title tracks stay very faithful to rock or metal writing

DREAMCATCHER shares the same music producers, LEEZ and Ollounder, with ATEEZ. Music wise, u can even notice the similarities btw both groups: epic feel to it, ethnic and cinematic drums at the background, a lot of layers, a lot of progression changes and different sections mixed with trap-like percussion. Other aspect is that they know very well how to incorporate the traditional music attending to both groups concepts into modern music. On one hand, DREAMCATCHER we have a Medieval concept mixed pretty well with hard rock/metal and EDM by using of ethnic drums and reverebrated and soft grand pianos that transport u to a Games of thrones type of scenery. On the other hand in ATEEZ we have that typical pirates/vikings melodies and battle drums in a lot of songs. In addition, they used a sample that I figure that is like there signature, and Im talking bout music FX like a synthetized brass or horn (pretty creepy but dope tho) at the very beginning of DREAMCATCHER's Piri and in ATEEZ's Pirate King remix and All to action's Outro. Sorry 4 my English :)

@@AZODi Hahaha yup! U should do it, u won't complain. I honestly recommend u 2 listen all their discography when u can and I would highlight Hala Hala, Pirate Ming, Treasure, Wonderland, Win, Answer and Horizont with choreography and Desire, Dazzling light, Mist, Precious, Better, Wonderland remix as b-sides. Also all their Intros and Outros since they are literally (from what I know haha) orchestras inspired by pirate melodies and English cinematography. Thx u 4 all!

From what I learned from other musicians, regarding the Jpop qualities you were talking about: Jpop/rock often mixes minor (or just sad) melodies, with an upbeat tempo, which gives it this interesting conflict of emotions, that depicts a sort of drama feeling. Hope this clears up, what you were mentioning, for the people interested.

yeah! its the art form of wabi-sabi in my opinion! the balance between hope and melancholy, there is more beauty in something that isnt quite perfect, but almost! if u look at it musically, try not to finish cadences, don't resolve anything with the I and V etc its a really cool of writing music!

AZODi they haven’t been doing well domestically,, there was also a scandal last year where they was snubbed for a music show win on purpose. The higher ups in kpop don’t seem to like them or their concept very much,, probably due to their breaking of the traditional kpop mould. they are considered a success internationally,, but it’s difficult to gain a substantial consumer base in Korea without the “stamp of approval” by the industry through those weekly music shows: the show, music bank, music core etc

if I am not wrong... the producers that work with dreamcatcher also work with ateez??? I've read an article where Eden tells he got together with different producers to get the sound for ateez? and there was at least one of them that work with dreamcatcher???

thats cool! i had no idea! they sound pretty different right?

I think in some respects this is the most metal(y) of their promoted tracks. Sure their past stuff has a more "traditional" rock sound, but the EDM chorus part sounds like it could've come straight from The Browning. Too me this "new" sound is comparable to them, Fail Emotions, newer Veil of Maya; or I See Stars, at the very least.

Ah that’s interesting! I guess you would only know that if you listen to their whole albums right?

A couple of comments for people who want more info: The guitars in Scream probably aren't detuned - the song's in Em, and the guitars don't go lower than E2. It feels like it because I think they have a distorted picked bass underneath on the verses. The Japanese-only Dreamcatcher releases actually go even harder, much more metal IMO. The chord progression he talks about before the last prechorus/end of the bridge is iv VI V. And I THINK the sound used in the chorus that's hard to nail down (the third up on the riff) might be chopped spiccato strings with a heavy OTT. Just my guess though.

I cant believe you didn't react to gfriend's new title track. Dream catcher and gfriend are literally sisters who each represents the sun and moon. And last but not least thank you for your reaction to area catcher. I love them soo much.
