This exciting technique on how to spin a 2-ply fractal from a semi-worsted drum carded batt. Same result as tearing your top into strips, and we all know how maddening that can be!

I guess I was confused as this was starting with top. Wondered if that was the only way to start making these rolags or roving.

You can start with whatever you want. You can spin a fractal from top by stripping it.

Can you demo how to make a fractal batt using carded prep or is that even possible?

Carded is exactly the same. You would just put the roving through like top. You can do it from scoured fleece too, you would need to open the locks and run it through the drum carder twice then just as a did it. Unless you mean how do you set it up with top. I have a separate video. Actually a have at two up on how to set up for fractal spin from top.

Well, that is really cool! What a great way to do a fractal spin. It looks so organic with the subtle shifts into two colors. At this rate I’m going to be jonesing for a drum carder! harpingJanet

It is so cool! I am enthralled with them! I am thinking about offering 2 &3 ply fractal batt kits in my shop. I was going to ask if anyone thinks that’s a good idea.

@@jkfiberarts I think it’s a great idea. Especially for folks like me who don’t have a drum carder to do them ourselves, but who want to play with such a fun batt!
