I met Alvy Moore in the mid-70s at Billy Bardy's Little People's celebrity golf tournament in Irwindale California. I was around 14-15 at the time and I asked him where did he get his Mr. Kimbel character from? He told me all he did was mimic one of the writers who was just like what he played. He never did tell me who was the writer. Very nice guy to talk to. He was very impressed by how much I knew about what roles he played in at such a young age. Still have his autograph with me today.

"Green Acres" was the best stupid show ever made (I say this with love). The closest anybody came to recreating it was "Newhart" (another show I loved). They both had almost the same premise. One, almost normal main character living in a town full of people living on the edge of reality. Another show that came close was "Northern Exposure". In the world we live in today, I would love to see more shows like these. I guess the closest we can come to it today is the "News". The only thing missing is finding a seemingly "Normal" main character.
@hankjones2975 Жыл бұрын
Newhart was an awesome show. His wife was beautiful and intelligent. Lisa was an idiot but played the role well. Michael Harris was an entitled whiney crybaby where Eb was not near as useless. He knew Mr. Douglas was clueless about farming but just let him do it his own way. Both great shows.

GREEN ACRES IS MY SHOW! I am 63 years old (I'll be 64 in October), and I am 55-year fan of both the show and Eva Gabor. Back in October of 2015, I went to see the graves of both Eva Gabor, Merv Griffin, and Eddie Albert at Westwood Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles. It was the highlight of my visit there. I wanted to pay my respect to these three wonderful people who were a part of my life. (Eva also went out with Merv Griffin, and she was on his talk show a lot as well.) I also went to weekend Mass at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills, the church of the stars, where both Eva and Zsa Zsa Gabor, Merv Griffin, and Frank Sinatra's funerals were at. I also saw her house as well. And my brother even took pictures of me right there in front of the house. We do need shows like Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, and The Beverly Hillbillies on TV today. Today's TV shows are nothing but pure trash! Unfunny and sex-saturated sitcoms. Extremely violent police shows. And except for The Amazing Race, these dumb and stupid reality shows. The reason I say The Amazing Race is because these teams are racing through other countries. And their clues are to perform a native dance or a local custom, plus cook a local or national specialty dish. Even though it may be stupid to the team members, they are actually learning about each country's native cultures and local customs. And it's the only prime time show that I watch. TV today doesn't even cater to all ages. It only caters to the younger people; specifically to teenagers and the 18-49 crowd. Us Baby Boomers feel left out. We just need to see some more decent shows on TV today.
