Tanoby Ruins Heart Scales are recurring item of Group C, which is the "very rare" slot. Meaning you have a LOT of walking to do to keep resetting & checking until you get them. But they are there.

If or whenever you decide to do this challenge in gen 4, there's a few things I'd like you to know beforehand that could be pretty useful. Regarding getting TM64 Explosion at the Game Corner, the slots aren't entirely random and if you do the right things + get a bit lucky you can achieve the 10 bonus rounds needed. KZbinr Techno Trainer has a good guide on this. Also it seems in European versions the desk person will sometimes give the TM out randomly to compensate for the lack of slot machines. Many people only know the berry person in the route before hearthome, but theres actually more berry npcs throughout the region. Regarding exclusive held items on pokemon, the ability compoundeyes has the out of battle effect of increasing the chance of a wild pokemon having a held item.

I don’t think I seen you get the soft sand. Sandslash usually Carries them but the poison barb is only in fire red because of Arbok being an exclusive counterpart to sandslash.
