Palm oil is the only edible oil in the world which has the producer, buyer, and NGO sit in one table (RSPO/ISPO) to determine standards. No other edible oil has this; not corn oil, not sunflower oil, not olive oil, etc. Moreover, palm oil has a "chain of custody" principle in that 1-liter of palm can be traced to a single tree to ensure that it is not produced from pristine/ protected rain forest. They keep changing the rules and standards. I think it is enough of this "neo-colonialist" model. We (Indonesia) should switch palm oil from a food product to energy but increasing biofuel requirements from B30 to B35/B40. EU's move is nothing more than protectionism and bullying

Sometime they're crazy. What's wrong with palm oil. In 2016 they told oh you should not sell product use palm oil. Now I'm working in EU. They said best oil is coconut oil! Duh it's extremely expensive here!(I was cooking with it at home when living alone in Indo till 2022). So I just use sunflower oil which is from Ukraine/Russia... 😊i support Indonesian gov!

coconut tree is even harder to grow, and only grow near the equator (ie also in Indonesia & Malaysia ) and near coastal line. Actually its an indigenous tree from South East Asia, so naturally it grows better in those area. The EU is climate neutral in 2050-2060. That's in 25 years. Thorium is still in the early stages and all countries are most likely to get it and who can afford it. Thorium is abundent everywhere. ​@@bambangbangshu7371 The garden needs 4-5 years to achieve proper harvesting, and the palm tree itself only lasts 20 years at max, after 20 years you need to plant new seed and wait for another 4-5 years to start harvesting. Than the fruit quality also have yield, which determine how much oil we can get from 1 Kg of fruit. The better the fruit or plantation maintenance, the better the oil yield. Also the fertilizer, plantation management, water source, the massive area of plantation, all much complicated rather than pumping a fossil oil from a well, inside the ground. That is why palm oil or CPO is not a cheap oil, it is cheap if it is used as a derivative resource, such as making for cooking oil, then some post production can be used as oleo chemichal like glycerin, fame (biodiesel). But using the entire CPO for replacement of fossil fuel, be ready to have a high price of fuel.

Perkebunan kelapa sawit juga masih sangat ramah lingkungan. Meskipun banyak hutan yg bergeser tapi akar dari pohon sawit juga lebih kokoh dibanding pepohonan yg butuh waktu sama untuk berkembang. Jadi perbukitan tidak mudah bergeser dan longsor tanahnya dan masih bisa menanam pepohonan yg bermanfaat lainnya di tepi . Saya rasa dipulau jawa bisa juga menanam pohon ini untuk mencegah pergeseran tanah/longsor..
