I went into this movie expecting to cry and laugh my heart out. I was not disappointed in the least. Tom Holland and Chris Pratt knocked it out of the park and created a beautiful sibling dynamic that we don’t get enough of. Overall a 10/10 movie with a lot of amazing moments that made me want the movie to go on forever!!!

I cried when Barley shared his 4th memory. I lost my father about six years ago after he suffered a heart attack. He was in a coma for over a week before he finally passed. So when Barley described how scary it was seeing all of those tubes hooked up to him, I felt that.

I was crying the ENTIRE movie. I relate to it so much. My older cousin and I are ACTUALLY Ian and Barley. (I am Ian and he is Barley, he’s 8 years older than me) We have a grandma who died when I was 4 and he was 12. I don’t remember a lot about her except I was at her house a lot and I remember coloring with her while she snuck me cookies. Tyler grew up with her in his life. Tyler (my cousin)/Barley: He’s a BIG goofball. He’s super protective and is always trying to light the mood and have fun. He’s super tough and fearless. Me/Ian: I have a lot of anxiety and I’m very socially awkward (how am I in a friend group of like 15 kids😂). I’m very emotional and the child Tyler is training to be in the Air Force now but we’re still super close. Every time I’ve seen this movie I’ve cried cause it reminds me of us so much💜💜

Oh man, I get you. This movie made me laugh and cry. Some scenes were predictable, but fun and the fourth memory, the checklist and the end made me very emotional too. I wanted to give my mom and little sis a big hug afterwards. And what I really liked was that Barley, the tough, rock-looking older brother is so interested in and open to magic. It could have been shy, introverted Ian to get the role of magically interested bookworm, but even though they did give the magic powers to Ian, it was Barley's knowledge of magic that got them along in the first place. Also it was nice that the mom was so involved. And the ending song is so heartwarming. I really get why they are comparing this with Fullmetal Alchemist, it indeed inspired me for a short fic, and Guardians of the galaxy.

For the record, I havent cried that hard since Toy Story 4 came out. I tried to stiffle my cries cause the theater was all quiet during that ending but i was gasping for breath between sobs and my friend sitting next to me said she could hear me the entire time. 1. A+ for coming out with original content again 2. A++ for depicting positive male role models in a disney movie that isnt just a romantic interest for a princess. Tumblr has been calling for that since Disney made Treasure Planet 3. I just love pixar so much when I found out in the beginning that all Ian wanted to do was meet his dad I knew it wouldnt happen. The thing I love about pixar movies is that the main character always wants something so badly in the beginning of the movie but they dont usually get what they want at the end instead they get what they needed and that is beautiful that is art if I do say so myself

In Ian's defense merging on the highway on your first time out in a vehicle is the worst idea I was panicking just watching it I'm almost 20 and I still haven't driven on the highway

I saw onward with my bf who is basically Barley. He said Quests of Yore=Dungeons and Dragons. That was literally what I thought of when I saw the whole quests of yore set
