I'm a college professor and I teach exactly what this new Cap is about. Systems of oppression created through consent and manipulation. This series is so on point is frightening.
@PrimesWidom8 жыл бұрын
I suppose that's true, however for me this entire Hydra-Cap. thing is a slap in the face to a true hero & fan-base alike, which spans more the 75 years. Along the way, Cap. helped teach many people real life values, like tolerance, compassion, integrity, & wisdom. Those people then passed that on the their children, & so on. But in the world today, there are so few things we can trust, & even fewer people(fictional or otherwise). So, do you really want to see another lost, especially for the sake of political commentary? Because, when all the Captain Americas, Supermans, & Optimus Primes are gone; that is when people will clamor toward the ones spouting things like "don't worry, I'll fix it all for you, just don't think about it."
@DrLetMeBFrank8 жыл бұрын
Not disagreeing with you because you have valid points. But I think the story is great because I can personally agree with it. I am a huge fan of the reality-based stories, even in fiction. For me, Game of Thrones without dragons and white walkers would be just as good because of the political narratives. But that may not be your cup of tea and I respect that. Cap and Superman are inspirations and it is polarizing for them to be seen as that perfect image of goodness. But the reality is there are not many people like that. That's what makes Captain America and Superman so phenomenal characters and that's what makes this story so darn interesting. The ultimate hero is in reality the ultimate villain. That is so interesting. Cap's going to be that great hero we love again eventually, but for now I'm going to be so into this story.

but thats what make it so edgy so cool...and so real...he is the flag, he is AMERICA, he is the little guy who stands up to the biggest bully, he is CAPTAIN AMERICA...but wait don't buy now we give you the gensu knives and more, he is more evil than anything we have ever known...I am big on Cap, and at first felt like you...but man. I just cant wait to see how this plays out

its like their telling us the truth of the world. that its those in power and in their for their own game, and we are just tools, toys and to be used for that gain and their own ends...bring it on Marvel...lol
@ryuoh69286 жыл бұрын
That's an excellent point right there. In fact, that's the reason I don't like Captain America at all; to me, he's always been like that. This story only made it more evident and had him act in favor of another side. He's always sold this ideal image of the flag, the country, the dream... when to me, superheroes have always gone beyond that. It's a harsh reality we all need to learn. No country is pure enough to be turned into such a heroic figure.

Munzur Baba Yeah and when that happens, Carol Danvers is gonna be destroyed in a way that she'll never see coming. I've like Captain Marvel but before Civil War 2 i knew she was a loose canon and a impulsive person who doesn't listen to anyone even if they wanna help her or is incredibly arrogant. Civil War 2 just how badly she wants to be a hero and in the end she lost the argument because her predictive Justice (Ulysses) left the planet with eternity, leaving a fractured community with very few people that she can trust and all Steve Rogers was blind her to an extent that she thinks she's right but she's not and that will be her downfall. Stark was probably the only guy who could've figured out that Steve is Hydra and with him out of the equation, the Secret Empire will begin.

Sorry but all I could do during this was think back at all the PERFECT opportunities Cap had to take over the world which he supposedly bypassed just to wait for the MOAR PERFECT opportunity. It's what is wrong with comic book villains in a nutshell. "I will make this plan as overly elaborate as possible and ignore all the prior chances I had MWAHAHA!" That is what this is. And it HAS to be because Cap was lazily turned into a bad guy while keeping his history as a "hero" msotly the same. That is retarded, It is what I called it back then. It is what I call it now. Retarded. And all the cool speeches in the world don't change that.

Ideals clashing, conflict arising, war declared, spread of casualties, war ended, aftermath, healing process, villain takes for power, unexpected war, heroes beaten, villain rising, crushed by last hope. For those who are wondering what this is it's basically what happened in the first Civil War up until Siege of Asgard which is so far following the same role in Civil War 2 but in a more elaborate scale. In the first Civil War Iron Man led the charge in registration, in Civil War 2 its Captain Marvel. The conflict started and the right side lost (Iron Man) leaving the wrong side who thinks their right to execute plans which in their minds they think it's best for the world but their not (Iron Man Civil War, Captain Marvel Civil War 2). Now future events come to solidify superhero unity for a brief time (Secret Invasion, Monsters Unleashed) which will have future casualties. Villains take control of fractured state and take power to their sinister plans (Norman Osborne after math of first Civil War, Red Skull and Captain Hydra aftermath of second Civil War) where the side that won (Tony stark first Civil War) (Carol Danvers second Civil War) will have lost or injured badly and are asking for help to clean their mistakes (Iron Man Siege of Asgard) (Carol Danvers posible Secret Empire) where in the end they admit they were wrong. Please Rob comment below I would love for you to think about my opinion on this. 😎😎😎😎

Rob. I'm with you. I'm loving the new direction of Captain America. he's always been my favorite comic book super hero. The thing I feel cements the reality rewritten Steve Rogers as a bad guy is when he's given total authority in time of crisis he doesn't turn it down. Before the Red Skull used the Cosmic Cube to restructure Rogers' history, I firmly believe that Steve Rogers would have been the first person to stand up to so much power being in the hands of any one person, even if he was the one receiving said power. Rob, you're my hero. keep up the amazing work! I cannot wait for the captain america Playlist and the fear itself event explained! !

My question is since reality was altered then why does the superhero community still respect him? Shouldn't reality be altered for everyone else too?
@TheBossAngelo8 жыл бұрын
Blues The way I'm seeing it is that all events have happened the same, but his motive has changed. Before he fought the good fight because it was the right thing to do, now all the things he did was to gain the trust, love and admiration of the superhero community and world's population. Eventually all this respect he gained would culminate into the perfect situation for him to pursue world domination aka The Shield Act. Pretty bad analogy it's like driving your boss wife to the emergency room for the sake of a promotion rather than it being the right thing, but know one will actually know why you did it

@brynphillips99578 жыл бұрын
That's painting with a very broad brush. There isn't anything wrong with people being put off about this character change. The story is great but it has still changed a fundamental part of a beloved character. It's the same reason that going back to the old superman has been so popular in Rebirth. For me, as much as I find the story really interesting, the character now feels tainted.
@RhoneM8 жыл бұрын
Perfectly explained. It's not that he's now a ydra agent, it's that it changes the very reason he was created as a comic book super hero. He was designed to be a beacon to fight the Fascist regimes of the axis powers. And while it's super interesting to have him be an agent of those powers in this story, it also feels like a slap in the face to both the creators and the decades of character development.
@trishahernz78098 жыл бұрын
It felt like a slap to Jack Kirby, who created Cap to fight against those kind of fascist rhetoric. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not supporting Nick Spencer's work, and Ed Brubaker's the best Cap author.
@ahmadhussain6828 жыл бұрын
trisha Hernz You're calling it a slap to Jack Kirby? The guy didn't even had any rights to his character. People praise Stan Lee and Kirby's family was never paid for his work after his death. And this is just a temporary change when someone else gets his hand on the cube and cap will be fine.

@Tyler_W8 жыл бұрын
Silenced Lemon impeach him based on what? He hasn't done anything worthy of it. Don't cite "travel ban" becaise it's really not that exceptional, neither in international politics or for US presidents. heck Obama did it. Carter did it. Pretty sure Roosevelt, Bush Jr. and Clinton did it. The first two I mentioned definitely did. Obama was also the one (he and his administration) was actually the one who had that list of 7 nations compiled. it's also not a "Muslim ban" becaise if it was it would be really bad at it since there are way more Muslim dominated nations tham are on that list and none of the nations with the most Muslims numerically are on that list. All of this hysteria some people have about Trump doesn't make logical sense based on what he's actually done. The only thing I'm aware of that I find outright objectionable is that he admitted we would consider torture in interrogations of terrorists and the like, but even that's kind of irrelevant becaise his Secretary of State is vocally against the use of torture so what Trump said doesn't really have much practical weight to them. I do agree however that the only reason Trump has as much power as he does is becaise of how far Obama expanded and absurd executive power before him just like Bush did before Obama and so on and that it is definitely a problem, so on that I think we agree.

I wasn't really feeling this hydra cap until this video. The words just feel so powerful coming from cap. Like Leonidas firing up the Spartans before the last battle. I think it feels so exciting because this is finally a new thought or something different coming from the character. We always knew what he stood for, his ideals were set in stone before the battle begins because he would do the right thing or die. Cap is the Ron Swanson of Marvel. Now we have the same intensity and focus with none of the bothersome integrity. I want old Cap back but knowing his memories are in there makes this sooo much better.

Rob. Great videos as always.To be blunt i hate the majority of the tiles on ANAD except for Captain America Hydra and Infamous Iron man . Loving Doom as a hero with moral ambiguity. Speaking of which i am amazed by the balls of the writing team. And how they preserved the moral fiber of the Steve Rogers we are familiar with. I like how he still fights what he percieves as wrong. Including plotting to overthrow the Red Skull who has taken advantage of the ideology for his own selfish gains. So evin this captain america may be Hydra but he is no Nazi. And what's really the high point of this run is that he is still relateable and you feel like you can agree with some of the points he makes. He is actually represents the values of the disenfranchised by capitalism and it's mechanisms and believes in a survival of the fittest approach to root out false hierarchy. I may be thinking into it way much. But anyway really thrilling read.

I ABSOLUTLY LOVE THIS RUN. seriously Iv been a cap fan for years and OMG, reading this I don't even recognize who this person is anymore and the way he talked was in a way that depicted the heroic cap as someone else who was gone and never coming back. I'm just, SECRET EMPIRE I cant wait especially for the tie ins also, did anybody catch that one phrase of Hydra now being changed to "Cut Off On Limb, Two More Shall Take Its Place" to which I'm thinking what is that signifying cause its always a Head(I mean, who is going to be the real Head of Hydra once all is said and done)

This is the kind of villain I always love the most, the one who's so close to the line between good and evil that you almost don't want to fight him. Now obviously this Captain's true face is malicious and coldhearted, in fact he contradicts himself in his speech about how the heroes lost (though much of what he said was true about why they were losing) when he speaks about his "perfect America" that ends up being as destructive as the behaviors Tony and other heroes were exhibiting, and as callous of it's citizens with putting "undesirables" in camps, and teaching children to be zealots who believe in a set of ideals regardless of the consequences. This is a great story, I love it!
