I recently discovered your video book series, and, needed to thank you for creating them. Yesterday I watched the 'How Small Is It' series. Before I went any further, I had to tear myself away long enough to say how fantastic this series is. So excellently is the information presented, starting with what you see around you, and going from there. The technical aspect of the production makes it all the more enjoyable. You are providing a great service to science lovers everywhere. I too am recently retired, and am rediscovering my original fascination with atoms, and cosmology. Thanks, David.

Thank you so much for all of your effort Mr. Butler! All of your topics are things I have thought about my entire life (37). I'm so glad you have put this information out there for everyone to see. I've always suffered for my lack of effort as a school student, later to come to terms with the fact that I have the mind and capabilities to do pretty much anything I set myself to. Unfortunately that's not how the world works. If your resume doesn't show that you've paid your dues (for lack of a better term), you don't really have a shot. Most people I know think of me as a network/computer/tech guy, but I'm as versed in many areas of interest as I am in the one I chose to get my degree in, so I understand your life long fascination with science. Hopefully it sparks wonder and interest in the younger generations, so a few won't make the same mistakes I have. I wish the people in my life that are the closest shared the passion I have for learning new things, as it's always better to be able to bounce ideas off of others than to be stuck inside your own mind. Thanks again!

Brilliant. I had watched Brian Cox and Carl Sagan ( From Archives). Both just praised the mysteries and few facts. These were presented dis jointed like priest praising the Lord. Here Dave Butler has chosen the basic information we needed to know and I can already feel it is coming in a joined up fashion. I have waited 70 years for this and that is how old I am. I am sure this will give such understanding to many mathematical students to study astronomy at least as past time like me. My suggestion for another series to make how the moon rotates the earth. On which Plane it is and explain eclipses more a accurately than me and my father both were taught.

First off, Thank you for all of your brilliant videos. But The reason for this comment is I wanted to suggest an idea for a new video if you felt up to it. I was wondering if you could explain our orientation in space and why people in the southern hemisphere have a view of the galaxy’s center, and people in the north cannot see it. Also why when the planet travels through a yearly cycle, why we are not able to see different sets of stars. I have come to somewhat understand it myself but only after 30 years of pondering. I believe this would be a successful video and also a very informative one. Thank you again Mr. Butler. I watch your videos on repeat. I love the intricate details that you explain, almost as much as I love space itself.

Mr. Butler, I have just discovered your marvelous videos and am thoroughly enjoying them. I do need to point out a mistake in this one, however. At 3:47 you have successfully triangulated on, not Everest, but its sister peak, Nuptse. Everest is the dark stone peak to its left, which, due to the camera angle, does not appear as high.

Thanks. I've learned a lot from observant viewers like you.

Fascinating video. Especially that backyard and pool. He's explaining all about triangulation, but I'm not as curious about how far away the rocks are, as I am about what the purpose of the big cubical cutout in the rocks is? Why on Earth would you build a pool like that and what is the purpose of those rocks? Why would you have a bulge of tiles and paving taking up space, and eating into the pool - forcing a bottleneck - that way??? I just don't understand that pool at all!
