Limiting myself to P4, I'd have to say that my favorite character is Chie. I find her energy and enthusiasm to be contagious, and the contrast that poses with how she acts when her insecurities comes into play just makes me want to give her a hug. Also, good choice starting with P4. A lot of people nowadays say that P5 is the best in the series (probably because they started with it), and mechanically, it is, but I personally prefer P4's story and find the Investigation Team more relatable.Here's to hoping that we get to see more Persona/SMT in the channel's future.

I'm warming up to Chie. I found her a bit grating when it was just protag, Chie, Yosuke, and Yukiko in the party, but I like her antics more with the larger group lol Honestly, I did a little bit of research before picking my game, and a KZbinr called @NamsCompendium made a video on which persona is the best, and a commenter said that the Persona 4 cast actually felt like friends, not a bunch of characters thrown into a wacky situation and end up bonding over that. After playing a good chunk, that definitely resonates with me and I'm glad that P4 was my first game lol

P4 is my favorite entry. Granted, it was my first, but P3 and P5 after that didn't quite have me immersed for WEEKS in their respective games and worlds. Which is saying a lot because I was quite immersed in both of them. Just that my P4-hype went on for years. Yosuke was my beloved Stupid Orange and I binged content about the fathomed "originally planned route" for him (lol) so hard because people went crazy with twisted timeloops and pseudo tarot-reasons, it was a wild and amazing time. So I'm really excited for this video! (Now I wish there was content from your Tales of stints... that's another fave franchise and you're getting bonus points for using Graces footage.)

i’m glad you had fun!! even though p4:g is my favorite persona game, i seriously pray it doesn’t get a remaster because i’d rather leave the past in the past, y’know? folks today will have a hard time seeing past the cruel writing that contradicts the game’s own messages and characters. the themes of self acceptance and queer coded storylines (even if handled disrespectfully) is why so many queer fans like myself resonated with it so much back in the day. I really love everyone in the main cast! but Kanji is definitely my favorite lol (i recommend the animes btw! the p4 & p4:g animes give the protag a subtle but humorous & genuine personality that makes him really endearing!)

I am so pumped to see you tackling a Persona game! 3 (FES) is my personal favorite, partly because of the tone and partly bias since it was my introduction to Persona (and SMT as a whole). That being said, Golden is a masterpiece. Such excellent characters and the soundtracks are all just as great as the games themselves! Edit to add: Kanji’s my boy! Especially at the time of release I related the most to him, and his Japanese voice lines make him downright hysterical in places

Your channel was a huge part of me exploring Harvest Moon after dumped 400 hours into Stardew. Seeing you play one of my favorite game series ever is amazing. Favorite character from the whole series is too hard for me but Kanji has a very special place in my heart. Takes the tough guy with a heart of gold trope to entirely new heights. And whatever interpretation you come away with from his struggle with sexuality, it gives an empowering message. It’s ok, for straight guys to question things and find out who they are and it’s okay for gay guys to have a mix of “masculine” and “feminine” traits, you don’t have to constrain yourself into a box.

This is easily my second favorite Persona game, after P3R (which I'm amazed actually beat this game for me.) For my fav character, it's usually a toss-up between Kanji and Naoto. Both are funny characters with a lot of depth and they have genuine lessons in their stories that could be learned by the modern day audience.I would say Junpei from P3R but that would be a massive spoiler for that game, so I'll just leave it at Kanji. I still quote "I'll tear it down and rebuild it twice as good! I-I'm gonna RENOVATE your ass!" regularly.

FUCK YEAH. PERSONA 4 IS LIT! My favorite characters in persona are : Aigis cuz shes the best overprotective girlfriend. Adachi cuz hes such a good contrast to every other character in the persona franchise. Hes just a guy doing a job he isn't fond of in the rural area and is a representation of what happens if the protagonist just ignored all the good parts of daily life and social life. Every character in persona has some sort of ambitions, or talent, or romance or something. Adachi is just a dude. To me that feels wierdly realistic and cool.

@@JackDuckGoose It's so good. It hits the best balance of grind/complexity to ease of play I've seen in SoS games so far. Both animals and crops have 4 attributes to increase quality and it takes some serious thought and planning to get the best products but it's also the most rewarding. I love the farm customization as well. It's the kind of game that you can minmax if you work really hard, but you can also take your time if you want. Also the Farmer's Tips and your Town Link Rank always have you working towards a tangible goal! And there are a TON of festivals to participate in every season! It's also got the best cast of characters in my opinion. They feel so real and alive, and have relationships and friendships with each other as well as you. They put a LOT of work in writing a mountain of dialog for them, esp the marriage candidates. The Bachelors are the best batch in the series so far (I love them each so much it's hard to choose when I play!) I like the Bachelorettes too but unfortunately Illuka and Siluka feel a little cheap because their designs are basically exactly the same. It's neat that they're twins but with only 5 marriage candidates each it makes you feel like you only have 4 options on the Bachelorette's side. But that's basically my only complaint lol. I replay it all the time because it's just so good and comforting. I'd love to hear your opinion and see your experience!

The only *really* similar JPRG I can think of is Metaphor: ReFantazio which just came out. It's produced by Atlas and Directed by Katsura Hashino, the same company and director of P4G and P5R. If you've already played that or are looking for an outside the box suggestion, I'd recommend Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It has a lot of the social simulation mechanics that Persona has and a large cast of characters, but the combat sections are more like chess and not like the turn-based structure in Persona. I feel like Brian David Gilbert from Polygon put it brilliantly when he said, "Fire Emblem. This magnificent franchise pushes the boundaries of gaming by daring to ask the question, 'what if chess made you horny?'"

@ Btw, SMT and Persona are different things. I know Persona 4 was called Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4, but they are different. SMT is the “mother” series and started far before. Persona was a spin-off which just happened to get way more popular than the mother series!
