When do you think the 100W video transmitter will be out?

Almost 4000 feet on the ground is about 40 miles in the air. That's nuts.
@TheRamblingShepherd28 күн бұрын
Last weekend a buddy was flying a 2w transmitter, and I picked up his signal 32 miles away. That means at 16 watts 128 miles would've been possible.
@ryanokeefe1220 күн бұрын
@@TheRamblingShepherd Unfortunately RF doesn't work like that.. You need four time the power to double the range, and that's in 'perfect' circumstances with zero noise. In reality, it's far more than four times the power required for double the distance when factoring in atmosphere and noise floor. You also start interfering with your own signal at these power level when at larger distances as the signal will bounce off of the ground and atmosphere.

Pretty impressive for being on the ground! I'm sure there was a lot of interference as well. Good stuff, would be crazy on a fixed wing
@ScuffedRadioАй бұрын
The extra power definitely makes a big difference, but ultimately the limitation is still the high frequencies that these video systems work on. They need to start making them for the 450mhz amateur band and we will finally see better ground performance. In the air though this thing will demolish any other transmitter.
@AnnikaFPV20 күн бұрын
Some manufactures do make them that low, I've even seen some down in the 300mhz range. The issue is that most of these are in not very legal bands and the antenna size is huge even with a basic dipole.
@ryanokeefe1220 күн бұрын
Sub GHz frequencies are never going to work. Especially at the power levels required and especially at the 300-450MHz range. There's not enough bandwidth and you'd be interfering with or be getting jumped on by all of the devices that use those frequencies... Security systems, remote car locks, garage door openers, weather stations, HAM 70cm band radio.

This is impressive when considering you’re using non-directional antennas on ground level with a lot of potential interference. A lot of people don’t understand this. On a long range platform with the right equipment, this VTX could really be impressive.

16 watts of RF radiation right above the head. awesome. Even the C-band satellite transponders operating from geostationary orbits have a tx power of only ~15Watts. just for comparison.

Not for Mr Kim. Secretly a super hero. He harvests his super scientifical powers .. To create a impenetrable barrier between the planet and his brain. Used for repelling propaganda primarily but is a huge plus for testing vtxs also. He's immune

Hahahaha. I always cringe a bit when I see people with WiFi and radio attached to their hats after the hysteria about mobile phones causing brain tumours back in the 90s. It's all been kicked under the mat now thankfully. Just turned midnight and the start of 2025 here in Tasmania, Australia so if you were worried about the world ending today it's already tomorrow here in Oz. Thanks for the entertainment through the year Albert and have a good New Year.

@@vanlifefpv6340 Highly depends on the terrain. Only way to tell is to do a back-to-back test with both.
