Pretty neat bit of kit that. Nice you got a discount; everyone loves a discount! Look forward to hearing how it fairs on track.

Did you notice any diminished accuracy of lap timing function by mounting on steering wheel?

Looks like it should always have been there! Would the bracket still fit with the horn button / nut cover replaced? the one you threw away at 2:22? lol

It need to make a little spacer to space the solo out about 5mm, but it should still work yes!

For what do you have this red steering wheel button? I saw you have 3.5mm connector on the end, if I am correct.

How do you time a lap? You set where the finish line is and then it measures everyone from there?

Hi, do you recommend fitting on the steering wheel? seems like a strange place for me... do you think the data is accurate in that position? many thanks.

my thoughts too

Thinking of one of these or the DL version. Do you know if it is possible to have GPS speed displayed at the same time as the lap timer? Need something with speed as my wheel blocks the factory Speedo 🤦♂️. Don't fancy paying the extra £200 for the DL's OBD connection if the vanilla solo 2 can display GPS speed.
@TeamPrawnRacing3 жыл бұрын
I believe when uys set to display GPS speed you can still have your lap time pop up at the end of each lap. And the performance indicator LEDs remain active the whole time too.

Nice mate! Would be great if you were able to hard wire it off the power for your red button to save you charging it. But then again it is magnetic so easy to remove!
@ElectroRaveRangers3 жыл бұрын
sooo, have you tried using the software to anylise the data yet? just looking at some of mine from last year, wondering why i never show much braking G force, got me thinking, wheel mounted, turning, all you data will be all off, as you turn the wheel and all your lateral G becomes, vertical G (as far as the internal sesnors are concerned) might be worth considering a fixed mounting point
@TeamPrawnRacing3 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, only just seen this comment! I've used the data software quite a bit now and certainly never noticed any oddities in then data from it being on the wheel. As I understand it, it plots G forces relative to direction of travel from the GPS, so the accelerometer doesn't care which way the device is facing. I could be wrong though! I mostly use the software to compare sectors and export data for video overlay.

@@TeamPrawnRacing that's interesting! I've got mine mounted off to the side in a bit of a weird place, kinda where audi headlight switches are, but it's not easy to see. Might try on the wheel and see how I get on with it

Just bought a solo 2. How do you like the steering wheel mount on track if you've been able to use it yet???
@TeamPrawnRacing4 жыл бұрын
I've used it at 5 events in 2020, and I absolutely love it! I really like the steering wheel mounting position. It's very natural and easy to read in your eye line.

@@TeamPrawnRacing Thanks mate. I'll do the same. It's easier than mounting it anywhere else. Cheers

@@TeamPrawnRacing How do you find battery life?? I think I'll have to mount it elsewhere and keep it constantly connected to the cars battery.
@TeamPrawnRacing3 жыл бұрын
@@Baconterrain battery life is surprisingly good. At home playing around it seems to drop fast when searching for sats. But last year on circuit I've done a full open pitlane day 9-5 with 200 miles on track without having to charge it. After a race meeting with a 25 minute quali and 45 minute race it usually has ~50% battery remaining.

@@TeamPrawnRacing Interesting, thanks. Using it on track in two weeks, see how it goes. Cheers.

Did a search as I've just bought one, found your channel. That's a brilliant idea where to mount it, I take it you've had no issues? I have the same wheel looks an ideal place. Subscribed!

Hi, sorry for the late reply! We've been using it all last year mounted on the wheel like that with zero issues. It's really intuitive in your line of sight, and doesn't get in the way at all. Would thoroughly recommend it.

@@TeamPrawnRacing aren't you supposed to hard mount it so you can get accurate g readings? Also as above it's really handy to have it hard wired, inevitably you will forget to turn it off or maybe that's just me! These are generally accurate although not always, +/- 0.5 sec worst but usually spot on. If you can work out how to make it show best theoretical lap on the software you deserve a medal!
