Hi, I've been following your monster A3 for long time.. you own big pot garrett g turbo.. 700 tons of hp.. so why are you using little synchro 02M gearbox than big synchro 02A? More 4th gear and holed shafts issue with 02M. Lots of parts to beef to make it reliable. What I see once they put less pitch bigger gears inside 02A they can move mountains. But you went your way. Why?

I don't think the order matters much, Nick. The only thing I find frustrating is if we get a video showing part one and the second part doesn't come out for months. Regular is good in whatever order.

out of curiosity, did you weld the 34mil tube to the inner skin + the sill? or did you somehow get enough room to weld it directly to the chassis where you pushed it through the hole. Just wondering, starting to dive deep into tracking my golf 4 and my sills are shot

Main shaft bearings 100% in the grarbox

Is the crank pulley moving when you press the clutch. If it is it could be crank thrust washers.

It does sound like a thrust bearing.

Try Transgear in Southampton nick. I know people that have used him before and said he has done a good job. Fairly common box so may be able to sort you out if you take the box in. Its worth a shout

Sounds like the brearings on the power steering pump on my 06 sprinter.

Flywheel gone

I’d imagine it’s the input shaft where you’d normally shim it, under the cap. Could the dog box be putting excess pressure on that bearing? I believe there’s a limit on how much preload you can add with the shims, 3 shims IIRC so it’ll probably need that bearing replaced if the gap is too much

Sounds like the clutch release bearing to me. Is this after the drive yesterday??

It's bearing or possibly play in your flywheel?

sounds like a bearing cant help any more than that nick drop box an hope its fixable before brands .

Throwout bearing is usually opposite. Push the clutch in, and it gets louder. Gotta be inside the box. Maybe contact mike hood. He does tons of transmissions for the b5 platform. Scott @ advanced automotion as well. Is a huge transmission guru for audi/vw
