Actually, the newest generation, Gen Z, aren't looking for instant gratification. They mostly filter out a lot of things that don't align with their values, but when they've settled, they're incredibly committed. I put on 20 pounds (hopefully mostly muscle) in my first year of training and it definitely changed my life. Confidence, strength, intelligence, everything got better. All done with just protein powder as a supplement. Starting weight 165 final weight after one year 185. All I did was be consistent, and continually increase my training level (adding weight, get good at basics then go advanced) I had a TERRIBLE diet back then and still looked great after the 1st year. Now I eat better but if you are starting out, you could probably get away with eating poorly if you are going skinny to fat. This was also when I was 20 years old so that may have played a factor. Be consistent, find a level up program with some frequency, then get some good eating habits and BOOM!

For all you guys over 50... As a 5’6” 30 year old with a average frame and weighing around 150lbs. I was able to add 15 pounds of muscle in around 5 years. at 12% body fat I weighed 165. I am now 70 and I just resumed serious training about 18 months ago. I had the foundation of my youthful gains to build on and I have added muscle mass while losing body fat. I now weigh 182 lbs, down from 192 when I started, but my body fat went from 30% to 20% and I have put on about 5 lbs of additional muscle. My goal is to get to 15% body fat and add a bit more muscle, let’s say 5 more pounds. If I can do that, I will be extremely pleased, weighing in at around 177. I figure I can accomplish this over the next 12 months with the proper training, diet and of course rest. For all those who are over 50, trust me, you can build muscle. It is a challenge and it will take time but it is doable for anyone unless you have a prohibitive genetic issue and even then you can still put on some muscle.

My 2 year younger brother is helping, because he is doing it for 5 years and know how to do the exercises the right way. Im really amazed how much progress i made in only one month. Im stronger and my muscles are alot bigger. My upper arms gained 4cm and my whole body is starting to shape the right way. This really keeps me motivated. My bodyfat percentage was about 15% when i started so maybe this is also the reason i can see the progress that good. For everybody that is thinking about starting i can only say, just do it. You will feel better when eating and drinking right and you get alot of confidence. Good luck

@big bass That's not how soreness works. You only get doms if you haven't worked your muscles for a while or you're targeting a new muscle. Once I haven't worked my legs in two weeks and when I went to the gym I went full out. 2 days later my legs were so painful everytime I walk I want to cry in agony. Especially walking down or up the stairs. This continued for days. However, if you are consistent with your workouts you barely get sore.

I've been hitting the gym for the past 4 months and i see some results, some strength gain, some muscle build, but it's so slow. My training regimen is 3 times a week, we hit all muscle groups, but always focus on one part of the body, depending on the day of the week. I still need to start eating properly, my diet is still a huge mess. Once i manage to align the eating, the training and the sleeping, i hope to see bigger gains than what i currently get. I’ve been trying to bulk up which is the mental aspect that’s really hard for me, bc I have struggled with a self sabotaging eating disorder. But like most things I’m working really hard to focus on why I want to get healthy and be stronger. I want to also know that I can put my mind to something that’s just for me. Like at work I do it to pay bills and that’s great but not exciting enough to stay happy. I just really need to do this for myself and prove to myself that the discomfort of life doesn’t phase me and I can be strong than any situation I’m faced with. Also I just workout so I’m surprisingly happy

IMO every muscle building video should, by law, emphasise this to its watchers as for many they can't tell the difference and believe that enhanced looks are achievable naturally. Look at this guy. Thanks for the information! I was down to 150 pounds from 206 lbs and 33 percent body fat at the start at 5’8, felt myself getting a bit skinny, while still having some muscle from a lot of weight lifting, IF, and HIIT cardio all while on keto and 15-1600 calories per day since August. I think it makes sense that since I started lifting heavy and doing legs for the past month, I have gained 3 pounds!! I was a bit concerned, but according to this video, that sounds like I may have gained muscle weight instead. Since my diet remained the same, (did add a little more protein to my meals though). I realize 1-2 pound fluctuations could also be water weight and excess sodium from keto that causes this also. I’m hoping to keep this up and finally get my bottom abs to show. Thanks.

I enjoy his tips. Not overly obnoxious like other fitness influencers. Easy to listen to. I gained 65 lbs in 4 years of training 120-185 at 6’3.” Creatine is truly amazing.

Wow! What in the heck!This guy is pretty much spot on! Tbh i'm suprised because this is everything my family tells me and they are really good bodybuilers, i was expecting some random bs or basic material for beginners that or selling me something but yea he is right. The carbs over protein scenario, the part about training muscle groups at least twice a week(thats how i do it) instead of just 1 day and idk about the creatine...

I'm that guy with that's in between VERY WEAK and WEAK genetics. I started going to the gym in Mar of 2023 and in 10 months, I probably gained 1-3 lbs of muscle going to the gym 4-5 times a week for 1-1.5 hours per session and tried my best to incorporate cardio with strength workouts with 1-1.5 mins break in between sets. I am happy with the gains I made at 45 y/o! I can only imagine what type of gains I would make for 2024... I can do it and so can you! LET'S GO!!!💪💪

It's actually pretty quick once you find what works for you and then tap that button like a hamster chews a peanut. So many people do a routine that is poor or average for them (while great for others) and barely progress, or slowly at best. Then they switch things around just the right way and the hammer drops, making better gains in 4-6 months than their past 3-4 years.

I'm 42, never trained in my life and I'm a computer engineer, so years of sitting on my butt all day. After a couple of failures to commit last year, I've actually found the 6 day bro split to work the best for me. I'm growing very quick and feel great. Started April this year at 93kg. First did a fast period with some fast pace walking and light jogging. This allowed me to drop down to around 80kg. Then started weight training with cardio. I'm doing 6 days working one muscle group per day and adding 4k rowing at a high drag factor to warm up/cool down. Seems to be working well. The wife thinks so anyway 😂❤

Thanks! I may move onto a different plan after I've done 12 weeks of this bro-split. It's funny you mention chest in this video because one part of my body that doesn't seem to be growing is my chest. I'm guessing that's because my arms and back are being used when doing other excersise but my chest isn't being used.

Ive been working out 3 months and gained alot of strength but just now getting muscle gains
@Fitfatherproject6 жыл бұрын
The_Wise Wilmen_YG that’s a super normal reaction in the first few months of training. The first beneficial change that happens to your body when you start weight training is your nervous system becomes more efficient - meaning you’re able to recruit for muscle motor units that you already have. As you become more neurologically efficient in the first few months, you’ll get a lot stronger. The muscle gains after happening a lot more quickly when your nervous system becomes efficient. Nice work so far. Keep it up! 👍🏼

@Fitfatherproject6 жыл бұрын
The_Wise Wilmen_YG fantastic! Good to start at your age. Focus on getting STRONG at squats, pull-ups, deadlifts, bench, row, and overhead press. When you get very strong at those movements, the muscle will follow 💪🏼

Thank you Dr. Balduzzi. You said one of the effective factors in muscle gain is "Age of training"; Now I'm curious to know is it possible to stop training for a month or two, after a couple of months consistent workout, and then gain like a newbie? In another words, is it possible to reset your muscle gain?

I need to workout daily. 4 day routine. Day one, back and shoulders. Day two, chest. Day 3, arms. Day 3, legs. Each day is also supplemented with cardio and sit ups. Repeat. I'm always working on my diet. I try to take creatine and BCAAs and maintain my protein intake. I do have a weakness for sugar and junk food like muffins, cakey stuff. Sprite. McDonald's McDoubles. I do try to limit what I'm eating but it's hard ugh. I'm 57.

I’ve been working with a trainer 3 to 4 days a week since late March of ‘19. I’m 6’2” and weighed 195lbs. After 5 months of hard core lifting and cardio, 200 grams of protein a day, lots of sleep and lots of water, I’ve lost ten pounds and seen no muscle gain. I’m skinnier than I was before. I look worse! It’s so frustrating. I can’t do carbs or creatine because I (was) diabetic before this. After cutting the carbs and sugar and working out, my a1c is normal, but I’m still a weakling. I look emaciated. I can’t put on muscle no matter what I do. I’m so discouraged. I won’t give up working out as I need to avoid Diabetes but man, it sure would be nice to see at least a little newby gain. But nope. Nothing.

ECTOMORPHS (skinny/thin persons): Add a couple of "extra meals" to your daily diet with lots of protein in them...Perform alternate sets of "pushups and crunches" or...Lift light weights and gradually add more weight to your workouts as you get stronger...💪 MESOMORPHS (naturally muscular people): Eat normally...Lift weights, from moderate to heavy..."Dumbbells ate great for shaping your muscles"...💪 ENDOMORPHS (obese people): Eat small, balanced meals...Lift lightly, moderately, or heavily...depending on your own strength...with lots of repetitions...💪 ALL BODY TYPES: DONT FORGET TO REST (Days Off) FOR MUSCLE REPAIR AND FOR MUSCLE GROWTH...👍

Not trying to get shredded but want to get really wide and thick muscular built. So what works best for that full body workouts or split and how much should we work out each part of body per workout...my full body workout right now is 1) military press barbell/Dumbell 2) dumbell or barbell bench 3) Barbell/seated cable row 4) dumbell curls 5) skull crusher barbell/cable pulldowns. 6) lunges/weighted sled push 7) cool downs- Dips/pullups Don't like squats or deadlifts hurts my body!

Is it really training age? Or is it more precisely proximity to ones natural limit? For example consider someone working out for 4 years but they only gained 10lbs because their training sucked
@ElliotTarrant6 жыл бұрын
Mike Gaiso very good point. Quality of training and nutrition!

Mike Gaiso well said... typically training age and proximity to natural limit SHOULD correlate... but you are correct in saying it’s really more proximity to natural limit. Not all training is created equal :) quality is of the utmost importance
