The bike is definitely much harder to learn because of the subconscious way you use leaning and balance to turn, and it’s nice that you addressed that at the start of the video

You may disagree but I think the hardest is a smaller speed boat with cable steering in rough water, when going fast you have to constantly steer into the waves to stop them from bashing you, you steer in and out of them so fast and randomly that you have no time to think and your struggling to hold on, when the engine goes slack it pulls the other way as well, something you don’t expect and you may be pushing that way, leading you to spin out (speaking from experience)

on a bicycle yes kinda, you can always use countersteering eventhough on a bicycle its probably quite shyte, but essentially Quick movement of handlebar to the left -> bike starts leaning to the right. and vice versa, its quite intuitive too, but its Technically not EXACTLY inverted steering, its pretty close

A thing that always helped me for inverted camera going back to older games is imaginging uninverted as you looking that direction. For uninverted I imagine the character having a plunger on the back of their head and you're rotating it

Jimmy Broadbent did something similar though a bit more reasonable a while back, with a 911 GT3 on Sebring iirc. He adjusted relatively quickly, but whenever he experienced over- or understeer he instinctively corrected the normal (and therefore wrong) way and spun out

Meanwhile my car in real life always leaning to right side despite in straight steer position, to combat it, I always counter-steer them or else I will go to ditch or hit curbs. Inverted steering is no strange thing to me because thats how broken my car is and still driving it for almost 10 years. Even if they inverted my steering behaviour, I dont have any difficulty at all. Not being show-off, but thats how I lived till now.

Just tried the inverted steering in Beam on the West Coast race track, with inverted steering in the track config of the (old) Ibishu Pessima I got a 1:59.477. With regular steering on the same track and car I managed a 1:58.476. These laps were done on a standing start. I did the inverted first, which did kind of mess with my brain on the normal runs, but inverted steering is something you can get used to I guess. (I am not a good driver)

Our friend had a small speedboat with a mercury 100’ anyway, we got a 140 for it and asked if we could take it out, he said yes and we took it and mounted it, the wings for the steering were quite different so we had to run new cables through there, invited him out and said he could drive it first, started it, it worked so we pushed him out, puts it into forward, goes to turn left away from the jetty and gases it to pivot, he instead goes flying up the jetty because we put the cables in wrong

I've done this before once or twice, and to be honest, it takes me about six hours or more to get comfortable with the inverted steering enough that my micro-corrections become less of a struggle to do. Last time I tried, it was with an early 2000s F1 car, and that was just ridiculous.

I learned to Inverted driving (gas and steering inverted) when I was 8-10 years old by playing the game "1998 Carmageddon 2, Carpocalypse Now". When you picked the some box it gave you a "drunk driving mode" for a minute or so (inverted gas and steering), also a camera was bobbing drunkily, it shoud've made players be confused and be destroyed by other players. I loved this mode. Still have this game on my new PC. I loved the naming of a gaming mode, it wasn't HARD or EASY, it was this: - As easy as stamping on kittens - Normal day-to-day depravity - As hard as fisting a velociraptor

You should do inverted steering and inverted pedals at the same time and try to rally with that setup. Have the clutch set up for the middle pedal, brake for the right pedal and accelerator to the left pedal.

Some people do it all the time. Maybe not with a round wheel but try jumping from one machine to another and finding the joy-stick controls are just the other way round. And the next machine has a different setup again. 😅 After a while you get so used to it it is not that hard anymore.

Yeah I've tried that in real trafic. On excavator did 18mph. So basically how this works. You have a trailer. Normally the trailer attaches to the rear of the machine. Not on those it actually goes into the front. So basically now to go forward you use reverse. To go backwards you use drive. As the cabin swings around you turn it a complete 180 to your basically looking over the rear axel when you have the trailer attached to the front behind you. Doing so reverses the steering also. You want to go right you turn left. If you want to go left you turn right. At the beginning it was super hard after a week or so it actually felt rather natural. And the upside of having the steering axel in the middle is that the steering is in reverse regardless if you go forward or backward. And as it steers in the middle you can take corners better. I actually got it upto about 18mph in reverse basically going forwards. Sometimes I would start to think and that's when I had to yeet the breaks not to lose control. But damn was it fun though. And it's actually fully legal and permitted to go out in traffic that way.

Hear me out.. 2 or 4 wheels.... if you simply pretended that it was your rear wheel steering you, inverted steering becomes quite easy to learn. The biggest difference in inverted front wheel steer vs normal rear wheel steer is weight transfer, which for someone who grew up riding bicycles seems like the hardest part (albeit still not unmanageable)
