I just got a 230 gtx and I can tell this GTR isn’t broken in yet. The new ones have seadoos new forced break in programmed into the ecu. For the first hour it won’t break 6k rpms, after one hour you’ll be able to get to 7k and after about 2.5 it’ll go to 7800 (as he was in the video) and after 4 you get the full 8100 rpms which gets you to 68mph. Supposedly full acceleration won’t be felt till 10 hours as well.

This model has lived up to our expectations and beyond this summer. Great review when I first saw it before my purchase last November with February delivery. Had it up to 65 mph by self, 62 mph with two riders, trimmed up all the way. Keep up the great Sea Doo Reviews as I find them informative as the “universe”seems small in my sphere as to any one with even the slightest clue about PWC’s.

Yeah I got to 66 on my 2019 seadoo wake pro. That’s kind of surprising because I’m not a light guy by all means. It’s the same engine as that GTR with 230 HP.

I've had a Spark, a 300, a GTI and now a '20 GTR. I think the GTR is the sweet spot for most. It has better fuel efficiency than the 300, more power than the GTI and the throw of a Spark. I had my 300 for less than a month before I got rid of it because the fuel efficiency is absolutely horrible. I wasn't able to ride with my friends without needing to head back early for gas. My Spark was a blast, but wasn't comfortable for 2 people especially on longer distance rides. GTI was absolutely perfect, excellent fuel range and comfortable, but hard to keep up with friends who cruise around 60. The GTR is the best of all worlds, assuming you aren't only looking at speed.

@@kkkvvh This thing is an absolute dream. I got mine with the speakers not thinking I'd use them, but they're incredible as well. The whole ski is easy to toss around, but is stable when you want it to be. I've just finished the break in 3 hours ago and I've been averaging between 67 and 70. I'm pretty sure the model in this video is a demo unit which is de-tuned a bit. So the production model is a tad bit faster. You're going to love it!

The sparks hulls are known for cracking when jumping or even hitting small sticks and logs hidden under water. I wonder how long these plastic hulls will be in production till they switch back

Jared Johnson this is why I purchased the GP1800R HO. My last ski was a Spark, if you hit waves hard enough you can see the hull flex. Not sure how plastic can handle 230HP

Kek Mechanic unfortunately my Spark had the issue where the handle bars cracked....An the pto rust issue. Needed a new crank under warranty.

Happy with my pair of 2020 vx limited yamaha - it does 52 but it's fast enough for me and the family. Also uses WAY less gas. I took it out this past weekend and got about 4 hours out of it. Wide open it's about 2.5 at 8gal an hour. But it takes regular, which is 1.45 right now around me. I might bump up to maybe the super high output that's a 4 banger so I can hit 65 but the gas significantly increases. Overall, when I tried sea doo, yamaha in a back to back test, I liked the yamaha hull. Feels thicker, weightier.

The 72u7H I just bought a 2013 VXR 1.8 liter about 3 weeks ago it runs on regular gas and seems to be pretty good on gas millage with no super charger.

Coast guard regulated 70mph! Gtr 230 will hit 69mph all day. Was it broken in? Unless they speed restricted or only put the 155mm pump on it ... the 170mm pump will do 70mph

McArthur Motors I think these were detuned for the demos. I’ve seen it mentioned in other reviews. Also, I noticed only 7800RPM on the “speed run” while I think 8000RPM is a typical max on these once finished.

I would like to ask a question here for any SKI riders and TFL. I will try to keep it short, I have been riding Jet ski's a couple times a year for about 6 or 7 years. I rent them here in AZ (I don't ride enough to justify the costs to own a pair) and I mostly have been renting from the same place. Its a good rental place, but the last time I rented them, they upgraded to new model Yamaha's. Base model 3 seaters, not sure exact models, but they are lighter and way more fuel efficient then before, however I found them to be extremely unstable especially at low speeds. Like I said I have rode a fair bit, and I have never had an issue, rode these new models and within 5 min at very low speed (under 10mph when turning) and got thrown off. Luckily Ski stayed upright and only lost a towel in the lake, but the whole day whether riding solo, with small kids (under 90lbs) and towing they were extremely wobbly and unstable. They only felt comfortable at high speed. Has anyone else experienced this and how much different are models and brands like this sea-doo? Also, great video Steve! Don't mean to detract from the video, just thought this maybe a good place to ask.

I just wanted to see what people thought before I rented another set (I am wanting to try another company with different models)

@@DJ_Underwood not sure what you mean. the EX didnt even come out until 2017, I have one. I also have a 2018 gp1800. they are both super stable at any speed. (well my gp1800 is a little sketch at 80) I havent ridden any of the newer seadoo, but these yamahas are way more stable than the older seadoos. rental skis are always the cheapest of any brand. go hit up a reputable dealer that sells both and schedule a test drive.

The speed indicated is diff than actual. I clocked my RXP 155 with my handheld GPS at 55 MPH but the speedometer says 58 ... I trust the GPS

Do u really think the RXTX is BRPs top of the performance? In my opinion the RXPX 300.. which is shorter, narrower.. with fully adjustable sponsons and risers. And with launch control.. is top of the line performance model. If ya wanna Race people RXPX 300 is the way. If ya wanna have a awesome machine thats fast in a straight line and great for passengers well.. good rxtx way. The Rxtx will never out perform the rxpx.

The Poly-tec hull creates more drag than the older fiberglass hulls did with the Gel Coat. I've heard of some people coating their new hulls and they get a few more MPH's out of it without doing any motor modifications.

How many hours were on the ski when tested? It is not even hitting maximum HP RPM of 8000 indicating that it is not even made it past the 10 hour break in period. Doing a top speed run on a Seadoo that is not broken in yet is pointless. Might as well drag a parachute while you are at it.
