I got a 2013 Yamaha 1.8 HO love that it's 4cyl and doesn't need a supercharger it burns less fuel less maintenance less chance for failure and doesn't need premiumfuel.

this is like a Ford / Chevy debate. It will go on forever. I've always had Sea Doo except for one Kawasaki way back in the day. Ran fresh and salt water and never had issues that I did not create myself. Just got to say though I love my 2023 GTX 300 limited. Fast and handles the ocean better than any ski I have ridden. Safe boating out there.

I've always been team SeaDoo, The advanced tech in the seadoos have always won me over the other models. Though everyone's starting to catch up now. But the invention of the IBR was way ahead of its time, and the Suspension skis SeaDoo had around the 2011-2014 era were awesome too.. I've always said if your a newbie go the SeaDoo, The tech will make it a lot easier to start off, But if you like ripping around the track and jumping waves Yamaha/Kawasaki is where its at!

I had 2 sea-doo gtx and both of them were unreliable - in and out of the shop all the time - I switched to the Yamaha FX HO cruiser and have had no problems with it - the Yamaha seats are softer than the sea-doo’s - I would go for the Yamaha all day long

I have the exact FX HO ski and really love it. Takes larger waves well especially when riding in the Outer Banks of North Carolina where I ride mine mostly. The dash layout options on the Yamaha was one of the selling points for me. The Seadoo doesn't have that in this matchup. Both skis are really capable but I really love how the Seadoo has the large storage area. I will be adding another ski soon and I may have to give the Seadoo another look. Thanks for the video.

Sea Doo definitely has the comfort Yamaha need to catch up in that department with deeper foot Wells and narrower and softer seats I personally have owned two new seadoos over the 11 years that I have been jet skiing supercharged and non supercharged and I can honestly say I have never owned something that has given me so much trouble as a Seadoo jetski if I was to buy a new again it would be a Yamaha or a new Kawasaki

The deeper foot well gathered water when I go fishing and throws out the stability. I Prefer the shallow foot well on the yamaha and easier to hop on and off from the side.

We owned a boat dealership and sold both Yamaha and Sea-Doo since the 1980's when both were new to the market. We sold the dealership in 2021 or so. Over that time we sold thousands of each brand, even had over 50 units in a single weekend. Without question Yamaha was far more reliable, no one does it better. Sea-Doos are great but they always felt more cheaply built and to a lower price point and the little issues they have are annoying and can put you out of service. Engines are solid on both but we still saw many more failures with Sea Doo. They just aren't Engineered as well. Yamaha for sure is the gold standard.

Ride both FXHO and GTX230 skis doing steps off on bar and getting to spots. Both great skis and very capable in surf. Agree FXHO is more responsive but GTX offers stability. Either one a good option. I went with GTX as attachable ski pole and fish box make it a good option for the family.

Prefer Seadoo for tow in surfing. No comparison on stability when switching riders (Yamaha feels like it will tip over). Ride quality much smoother with the Seadoo hull. Yamaha feels like you are riding on top of the ski vs Seadoo in the ski(stability). For maintenance and reliability; the same. For sound system; the Seadoo is top notch. Kai Lenny has also switched to Seadoo.

I have an FX/HO.. and I like the 'army tank' feel of it... plows through anything, but I may go for the Sea Doo soon, as I like the easy rider pose a bit more these days. (big waves Yamaha.. smooth water.. Sea Doo)

Good comparison, I’ve got a gtx300 and my mate has a svho. The svho takes off heaps quicker and is much more nimble. But the gtx will catch up easily once we get going and can take a lot more chop easily.

Hubby & I have a 22 RXTX, prior to this we had a 17 RXTX; have to say in most group rides that we have done, Seadoo & Kawasaki is always at the front of the pack even with 2up. Yamaha’s nearly always seem to be at the back and most of them are usually on 1up. That’s my 2c worth and has been my experience, just saying. For touring, definitely SeaDoo!

Should be a GTX170 compared to the FX HO - That's a fair comparison. The FX handles the swell and chop better. I swap between my friends GTX and it's a great ski at rest or slow speed but they are very different

It's interesting that people speak as though it's a fact that Sea-Doo has reliability issues. I've owned a 2009 Wake 155 for 15 years and never had any repairs ever. We also have a 2012 RXT 260 for 12 years with no repairs ever. I've never owned anything other than these 2 jet skis, but they seem solid to me. I'm trading in the Wake 155 for a new GTX 170 this year because I'm looking for a smoother touring ride. I'm sure Yamaha is excellent too, but I have no mechanical concerns with Sea-Doo.

Watching the video, Seadoo is better for me. For waves, I eFoil. Jet skiing is not a “sport” - it’s for when I want to be lazy and get from A to B fast and with some fun. No other boaters like jet skiers.

Much for much really, people will disagree but from owning multiple models in both brands, our experience is we have always had issues with both. End of the day they are high performance machines in a salt water environments that is being bashed around in waves. I do reckon Yamaha was more reliable in older supercharged engines though.

**************** If you feel like doing an honest comparison, you should get the Sea-Doo GTR 230 that has the same U-shape type of hull as the Yamaha, not the V-shape like the Sea-doos Wake Pro, GTX and RTs. Definely the U-shape hull is more playful and more forgiving (ideal for lakes and rivers), while the V-shape one is better for bumpy waters like the sea and great for race and sharp turns. ******************

Yes, seadoo make their own. That's what Rotax is. Who owns Rotax? Bombardier Recreational Products. Rotax is also used in aircraft. If you knew anything about engines you'd also know that the Kawasaki and Yamaha are motorcycle engines. Where as Rotax is designed like a car engine. Car engines are far superior. I don't even own a seadoo, but I know engineering.
