How Fast Is The Hellcat REDEYE?

Fastest Dodge SRT Challenger - Hellcat, Redeye or Demon?
Many have wondered which of these mighty Mopar machines is baddest in stock trim. Is it the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat? Possibly the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon? Or maybe the Dodge Challenger SRT Redeye? And where does the Widebody fit in?
Well, gather round and prepare to get the good news. Today, the Exotic Car Doc - America’s premier performance guru - will clear it all up. Which one is faster and why? Which one has the best 0 to 60 mph time and why? And finally, which version is best for everyday driving and why?
Here is a brief explanation before you gear up to hear from Brenton Brown, founder and president of Forza Tuning and Performance. If you have an SRT Challenger Hellcat, Redeye or Demon - and a need for more speed - the Exotic Car Doc can heal what ails you.
Let’s begin with the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Introduced in 2015, the Hellcat was the most powerful car ever produced. Variations of the Hellcat package were eventually offered for the Dodge Challenger (coupe), the Dodge Charger (sedan) and the Jeep Trackhawk (SUV). So successful was the Challenger Hellcat that other models soon followed.
In 2018, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was offered up from the pits of hades. Everything about the Demon was bigger, stronger and more powerful than the Hellcat (see specs below). The Demon featured a larger supercharger (2.7-liter) than the Hellcat (2.4-liter). A little wider and a little lower than the Hellcat, the Demon (with the Demon Crate) was the most awesome drag race version of a mass-produced automobile we had ever seen. It’s massive 6.2-liter supercharged V8 HEMI engine churned out so much power (840hp) that the NHRA banned it from the drag strip without a roll cage (due to its sub 10-second quarter-mile elapsed time). With a factory trans brake system and a race gas PCM, the Demon was the first American production car with the capacity to “tote the front” in stock trim. Great for the track (straight line) but not so impressive in the corners.
Now, that’s certainly fast, but is it the fastest between the Hellcat, the Redeye and the Demon?
Back to the Hellcat. In 2019 the Demon was cut from the lineup and the Redeye option was added. The Redeye essentially added the Demon powertrain (with the bigger supercharger) to the (more roadworthy) suspension system of the Hellcat. Good idea, but not great. Great was the addition of the Widebody package. The Widebody option provides a greater degree of traction, which means more responsive acceleration. So much more than just fender flares, the Widebody option adds 20-inch x 11-inch Devil Rim forged aluminum wheels wrapped in 305/35Z20 performance rubber. The regular body Hellcat can only accommodate a 275 tire which is significantly narrower. More rubber equals more traction. Widebody also adds a competition Bilstein adaptive dampening suspension system and better brakes. That translates into a car with the powertrain of a dragster and the handling capabilities of a sports car. Need I say more?
The Hellcat and the Redeye are extremely similar. If you are so inclined, the Redeye powertrain is more robust (with a higher top speed) than the Hellcat. The Widebody option (of either) is the only way to go. By the way, all Demons are Widebody.

I would like to see the pros and cons of adding twin turbo the Hellcat platform as compound boost or strictly turbo. And, the addition of a larger blower I currently have a 2017 1000 HP build of yours and still running strong. Reliability is key and I don't a lot of others who have jumped into this market care as much about the reliability factor.....just make fast regardless. If reliability is sacrificed with addition of turbos ??? I think it is impressive to be able to drive a highly modified car daily and have it hold.....got to hand it to you. Rock solid.

Great channel and nice job of explaining differences. It is my understanding that the Demon 168 mph top speed limiter is lifted once the race ecu is installed. I've seen a couple of KZbin videos showing the Demon top speed to be over 210mph ...which is insane for a brick in the wind.

Bro, this was an awesome video. Of course it’s everything we’ve heard before but it was about 10-15 videos put into a very thought out informative video with some much needed education over other videos. Ok now , I’m confused on what to buy. I’ve been going back and forth over a redeye or a Hellcat widebodies. Getting a 2020 and have been waiting just a little bit to see (i have a feeling) if they announce a special edition Challenger this spring along with a special model Charger, which I’m getting my wife the Charger. So yeah , if they come out with a special edition Challenger now I’ll have 3 to choose from with the redeye and the hellcat Challenger. I may customize(theme) the crap out them (my wife’s and mine) and start a channel. Very interesting learning the hellcat and the redeye do about the same because of the traction issues. So i kind of need your opinion or anyone’s. Money isn’t an issue so eliminate that part. I will probably take it to the track a very little bit. Not really my thing but cool to do it once and and awhile. So should i get the Hellcat or the redeye for the channel and customizing this thing with a theme and some mods? As far as driving them where i live there isn’t enough room for speeds that the redeye would be able to pull away. But i still feel like the redeye would just be more durable for goofing around and doing light mods, but after this video I’m not sure why a Hellcat wouldn’t be enough. Do we just buy the redeye because it’s stronger more reliable and for bragging rights ? Or is the wide body Hellcat pretty much just going to give the redeyes around town a run for their money. Last question, so would you have the 309 rear end put on either the redeye or hellcat just to have it ? Again money not an issue. So what are you buying ? Sounds like now that the regular hellcat could be tweaked a little and give most of the mostly stock redeyes an issue around my town. But then again what am i losing by not having the redeye? Good information based upon factory tires, and your absolutely right, Redeye's have WAY too much power for the little 275/40R20 tires the regular body comes with. But if you installed the same size sticky rear tires on both cars the regular body wins everytime due to being much lighter with the exact same drivetrain. I understand this was a very accurate stock-to-stock comparison, but a simple easy tire swap fixes the regular body traction issues... and the only reason the widebody is faster. True, the 11" wide wheels will stick out, and while not good on the street, many cars run that way at the track. I would like the widebody's a whole lot better if the fender flares didn't look like afterthought add on's; I just personally have never cared for them. But hey, they make both so everybody can be happy!

Good explanation....I knew pretty well all of this anyway....friend of mine bought a 2016 Hellcat and made a pulley change, produced about 820 Horses. Too bad the N/A Challenger(s) are somewhat neglected. The 485 horse 6.4's are pretty well all you need on the street. I'm building a 7 litre Gen 3 for a drag car we are fabricating....one difference....using a cross ram with carbs, old school style. Much more of a challenge...One thing....Mopar really needs to cut the weight out of the Hellcat....4400 pounds is just ridiculous.
