I can't remember the title of the Heinlein novel I thinking of but in it the main characters travel between alternate realities in the multiverse. Their car/vessel used a control system that relies on 2 three dimensional control systems. One used the 3 spatial dimension to teleport through space in directions relative to its start point. The second controlled movement through 3 temporal dimensions, the 1st allowed movement forward and back in time as we know it, the other 2 moved the vessel to alternate realities, the farther traveled along these temporal directions the greater the difference between your starting reality and your destination. I always thought this a cool way of describing and explaining a multiverse.

@EclipseIsUp
@EclipseIsUp 5 жыл бұрын
A better explanation for the forth dimension could be: the way we can see all four sides of a square at a time in 2d, a forth dimensional being would see all sides of a cube at on time. They can see inside a closed cardboard box as well as the 6 sides; the same way we see four sides of a square as well as in the middle of it. Also, they could touch our internal organs without even touching our skin. So... if we have a metal box that is welded all the way around with no way to get in, a 4d person would still be able to enter the box without touching either sides. Experiment: draw a square and place your finger in the center. You've just entered a 2d square without touching the sides. Now imagine (or try to) that with a 3d cube. They would place their finger in the center and not touch either of the 6 sides. That's because they're entering from a direction we don't have on this 3d plane. To be honest we done really see in 3d. We see in 2d, but we have depth perception. A 4d person would legitimately see in full 3d and have a depth perception of the fourth dimension. If a 4d cube dropped through our plane, it would appear out of thin air as a tiny spec as a 3d cube. Then it would grow to it's natural size and get smaller as it continues to fall-- until it disappears. That's the fourth dimension. Oh and a side note: a 4d person could be able to see a 3d person's life from beginning to end while looking at him/her. Since they are one dimension up and we're one a linear time line, they are able to look at our whole time line at the same time. Mind blower.
@joshuaknight6551
@joshuaknight6551 5 жыл бұрын
Nice on 4th dimension actually. Shadow works well. I also like use rotation points. Draw a square, you can rotate it any point you out your pencil. Have a cube, you can put a line through it anywhere, edge on a face through the volume. And rotate. 4th dimension, you can rotate it on any entire FACE without making changes to the shape at all. So you could grab any 6 sides of a "cube" and rotate the cube without any side/angle/length changing

15:50 I was under the impression it was incredibly hard to hit the sun when shooting something from earth. It would be like trying to throw something at earth from the moon (but way more extreme). Because of our insane "horizontal" velocity while in orbit, anything we launched from earth would just fly around the sun in an elliptical orbit (possibly very elliptical). You'd have to counteract nearly all of that velocity exactly before it actually would fall into sun.

Atoms are held together not by electromagnetism , but the strong nuclear force, and plasma is not when protons and and neutrons are separated by the destruction of the gluon between them, it’s plasma when there is a nucleus but no electron. This would release a lot of energy and explosions from the destruction of gluons, and let away positively charged protons to vibrate around destroying other atoms and causing nuclear fission explosions. Bad ideas.
@epicmonkey6663
@epicmonkey6663 5 жыл бұрын
I have a different idea as to what might be the cause of people turning to dust and I think it could be to do with transmutation I got this idea from watching legends of tomorrow there's a character on there with the power of transmutation and that's to turn one thing into another like turning a rock into water for example and maybe half the universe was trans mutated into dust
@Drkwll
@Drkwll 5 жыл бұрын
@@stefansauvageonwhat-a-twis1369 Electromagnetism holds the electron and nuclei together, hence holds the atom together. The strong force holds the nucleons in the nuclei together and the quarks in the nucleons together. If quarks and gluons are separated, you have a quark-gluon plasma.

Hey Kyle, first of all, I just wanna say that I love your work and hope you keep it up, greetings from Brazil! So, one think you must have got wrong is the speed from the new sonic. The reason I'm stating that is that, in one moment you can see sonic "stoping time", talking to himself while tons of "mini-missiles" are just frozen mid air towards its direction. The reason for the velocity you calculate be wrong is that you said it was around 108 - 163 m/s, while the velocity from a small missile (the smallest I found was the NAVAIR Spike) is around 270 m/s. That fact by itself shows already some disagreement with facts. Although I think Sonic needed to be a lot faster to do both, make the EMP and "stop" the time.

@5:10 Kyle, When you explain the "many worlds theory" it makes total sense. Yet, the way that I see that theory is that time is flowing as a "river" and whenever there is a possible choice, that makes a "split" in the river. Therefore making the two different splits in the river, two different timelines. Also, I think that once a decision that could split the timeline becomes inconsequential the two, or more, timelines merge back together. What do you think about this theory Kyle?? EDIT: I agree with your many worlds theory, i just see it in a totally different way than you do and would love to hear your feedback about what you think about my interpretation. Love the show. :D

Well there's the radar gun that clocks him at 760mph. Then Sonic makes a statement about having taken 9 million steps in that one day, which seems innocuous but just adds to the sense of how fast he really is. If he did 9million steps equally across 24 hours it'd work out to about 104 steps per second. That number can probably safely be multiplied by 8, since it's unlikely he'd have spent more than 3 solid hours running. 832 steps per second at the least, which is just bonkers.

Kyle: 'My overall favorite for serious play is Narset' Me: so you like playing Solitaire with Magic Cards? Good to know. Seriously, for those who don't know, Narset Enlightened Master is like... if you set the deck up correctly and are being 100% serious, you can have infinite free turns and it just becomes a game where the opponent literally can't play until you kill them. EDIT: I tested out my own Narset deck with proxies because I was too broke but had a printer, so i just printed them and stuck it in sleeves for testing, and while serious, I can't really say it is a fun deck if you like a challenge... that being said MY serious deck is Karador, infini-combo masturbate with my graveyard deck, and yes, it does include dredge. So basically if left unchecked between dredge and gitrog, my deck is as big as my graveyard and honestly it is a bit disgusting, but is fun to play and requires a bit of.... avoiding being hit with graveyard removal or big hits.

I think of the fourth dimension as a list of third dimensions in the same way a 3d graph is a list of layered 2d graphs which are made of layered 1d graphs. 14:30 the thing about the "launching garbage into space". Is not only that you have to launch something out of earths "gravity well". anything would be in orbit around the sun, so getting something to actuall go IN to the sun is hard, since you need to get rid of all the "sideways" momentum the earth has. If you threw a ball out of the ISS towards the sun hard enough that it wouldn't be in earths gravity anymore (basically impossible since gravity just reduces it never stops, but lets go with it...) it would never get to the sun, it would simply also be in an orbit around the sun

Hey Kyle, I'm no master of physics or anything but I think I have a simple way to explain the fourth dimension. Time is a dimension that describes changes in information of the other 3. The same way you can slice into a sphere at different points and see a 2 dimensional image [as you described, time can slice into you for instance and show you at different points. Slicing into a sphere closer toward its edge, is going to deliver a change from slicing toward its center. Or maybe what I said was just nonsense i dunno.

They manufactured it to create the Virgil, in order to successfully dig to the core of the earth. After a demonstration of it's properties, when they asked him what it was called, he replied "Well it's real name has 17 syllables, but I just call it Unobtanium." So, theoretically, this extremely valuable metal amalgam that would be incredibly costly and difficult to produce, especially in mass, occurs naturally on Pandora.

In regards to the question about the Quantum Realm existing mentioned at 18:32, just to further that explanation. Theoretically, it would be impossible to see anything within this realm, simply because you would be smaller than the size of a photon, which is the particle of light responsible for our ability to see the world around us. If you were to shrink smaller than the size of a photon, then essentially its intensity and size would increase massively, meaning not only would you (given the Antman portrayal of the quantum realm) go blind, but you would be subjected to a vast amount of radiation and heat. The reason this doesn't happen already is due to the protective qualities of the ozone layer, and our mass in relation to these particles, however at that size I could imagine that a single photon would be as large as the sun itself. This also means that to see anything, you would have to somehow create synthetic photons to bounce off quantum material (which in itself may not be reflective), else somehow shrink a photon down to the same relative size as yourself. I'm not really much of a scientist, however this makes logical sense to me. Would be happy if someone could confirm this, or prove me wrong.

Missiles can move anything between 2.5 and 10 mach (1,918 - 7,672 mph). Given that sonic can move fast enough to make these freeze mid air, I'd say you may have underestimated a little.

There was a theory for the multiverse. So, at the first level, you have alternate timelines. These are typically untouchable-ish. You have to change an event to interact with them. They are reliant on actual time travel to get from point A to point C by stopping by B and changing x. This was the main feature of DCs Flashpoint Paradox. Then, the next level, there was parallel worlds, the many worlds theory, where each choice creates an infinite number of universes. This was heavily dealt with in DCs Crisis on Infinite Earths. Both of these exist in the same multiverse, where rules remain the same. Then there are seperate Multiverses. Suddenly, all the rules are different, up is down forward is left and diagonal is implosion. Now, pocket dimensions, seperate dimensions and null dimensions are exceptions, as the first two aren’t often big enough to actually be counted as universes on their own, and the latter is the dimension of nothingness. Don’t know where I read it, but I like it.

About the trash & sun thing, not only would it be inefficient like you said, but Earth would be losing resources. While that trash might not be usable to us individuals, it it's still a part of the Earth that we might need for something else. In that respect, the volcano sounds like a much better idea.

No material could withstand the forces sonic's feet would put out, as I understand. So even at the slowest speculative speed, he wouldn't be able to apply the friction his feet are putting down, in order to attain it, without just running bare foot. Microwaves have been proven to cool objects, aswell as heat them up, through interference(mythbusters)

So, I did the math. Like really did the math. My numbers were actually surprisingly close. I used the line where he said, "Hey, look at that! I took 9,000,000 steps today!" Now, if you take the ratio of body height to step distance, it comes out to be ~0.414 cm/ cm of height. Sonic's canonical height is 100 cm, meaning that his per step distance is 41.4 cm. Multiply by 9,000,000 and you get 3,726 km covered that day. Now, I made one assumption in that it being mid afternoon in the scene where he says that. If he's been rolling around at an indeterminate speed for 8 hours at that point, it means he was going 465.75 kmh, or 129.375 m/s. I didn't stop there, though. Assuming his metabolism works fairly similarly to our own (even if his smaller size likely indicates it's faster), I crunched the numbers and came out to 3 Calories/ per hour per kg per kph. Yes, the second per hour is intentional. Every hour, he's burning 3 Calories for every kilogram he weighs for every kilometer per hour he travels at. Sonic's canonical weight is 34.65 kg, meaning that in that 8 hour period, traveling at an average speed of 464.75 kph, he burned 387,317.7 Calories. Assuming the average chili dog is ~350 Calories, he would need to eat 1,106.62 chili dogs before the run just to maintain existence and not metabolize himself. Of course, again, he's smaller, so it's likely his caloric needs are even higher. An example of this in real life is the shrew, which needs to eat its own body weight in food each day.
