I was so relaxed when I gave birth for the first time. It lasted 1h30 of labor, 10 minutes of pushing and no tearing. Goodluck mamas!

The important thing to understand is it’s not pain in the way you feel when you’ve got an injury. Pain from an injury is our body’s response to something that should not be there alerting us to the danger of being injured. Pain of labor is a different type of pain, it’s something our body is set up to experience and it’s a natural thing to feel that kind of pain for women. It’s a different kind of pain all together.

@@moonrain85 well the video does say imagine having a painless birth. That kind of language is setting up majority of women for failure and fear right off the bat. It’s sad that so many women watch these things and take the classes and then are not mentally prepared for the inevitable pain. They feel like a failure and they are scared and unprepared. I am all for doing the exercises to stay calm and reduce pain but selling a painless birth is a bunch or BS and damaging.
@kristenhanisch8508 Жыл бұрын
@@alisalaska1786Yeah, I was thinking about that. I had a traumatic attempt at a hypnobirth where there was such an emphasis on not even using using the word "pain," and I was totally unprepared for what intense back labor and early pushing urge with a fever would feel like. Yeah, there can be pain-possibly even the worst pain in your life. I think it's better to call it pain with a purpose so you don't get mommies blown away with being completely mentally unprepared.

LITERALLY what came to mind and what I repeated to myself the entire time during my labor!! I delivered my baby unmedicated and I gotta say it’s definitely painful but thinking about the pain only makes it worse instead I told Myself I wasn’t feeling pain but I was feeling pressure. I was able to cope better when I breathed slowly in and out and just telling myself to let the contraction wash over me like a beach wave helped. However when I was dilating 8-10 cm that was definitely the worst I’ve ever felt just because I felt like my insides were getting crushed cause the uterus just does so much work. I wasn’t afraid at all but if you do start getting afraid it really ruins your focus and does make you feel worse during those contractions.

Huh, this taught me that I really need to address these things now! I've always been struggling with high anxiety as well as being very hypersensitive, especially in regards to pain. I've had intense pain due to digestive issues and it's taught me to fear pain. I'm also scared of blood, needles, changes and not having control. I don't know what I was thinking when I got pregnant either, but you better believe that I'll work on this to make sure that I don't have a traumatic birth experience. My lifelong dream was to have children, ideally ~4 of them, and struggling with pregnancy symptoms these past months has been enough to make me question my ability to go through this again. I need a decent birth experience or my dreams might never come true! Edit: I mean, I know adoption is an option, but as far as I've heard that's insanely expensive and can be a very drawn-out process.

Hi! I wonder how your birth experience went. Hope you and your baby are doing very well.
@songpoetry12 жыл бұрын
@@sylvanafow1340 Thank you very much! We're both doing quite well. I had a few false labours, but once I felt real contractions, I learned what they mean by "you'll know when it's happening". It ended up being about 24 hours of labour and to be honest, the pain was on a whole new level that I never could've fathomed. At least it came in waves though and, when the first sustained one hit me at 8 cm, I ended up getting an epidural. I should've just gotten it sooner. The epidural worked perfectly. I could still feel the contractions, walked just fine right afterwards, and had zero side effects. I birthed on my side and got some second-degree tears, but those weren't painful enough to even need painkillers. It all worked out well all things considered and once the labour is over, it's over. I'd say that I'm mildly traumatized, but the newborn stage was honestly much harder for me personally since that takes much longer (and this baby inherited my digestive issues). It's been six months and I'm at the point where I'm thinking I could do it again eventually. I might have taken a little while to fall in love with my baby after birth because I was just too worn out to feel much and then just tired and surviving, but I sure do love her, more than I've ever loved any other human being. It was all worth it in the end.

I really love your channel! I am 38 weeks pregnant today. I will be induced on 2/21 at 39 weeks and 2 days. My baby has a very high chance of being born with HLHS. I had an amniocentesis done and my baby underwent heart surgery while in uterus. Both times I was super chilled, just praying my baby did OK. People (including medical professionals) asked me if I was afraid, but honestly, I was not scared of feeling pain or discomfort. I had to have an epidural placed so I wouldn't be moving on the OR table. And honestly it was barely uncomfortable. I am hoping I go into my labor process with the same or even better mindset. I am really hoping I can start labor just before they want to medically induce me (esti6ng dates, going for walks, drinking raspberry and another kinda tea) also hoping I don't go for an epidural. But more importantly, I just wish and pray my baby comes out and is stable so I can get to hold him in my arms for a few minutes before he gets taken to the ICU.

Love this video! Thank you for explaining the biology behind fear and how it worsens pain. I'm having my first soon and a lot of people are kind of shocked and think I'm crazy when I say that I'm not afraid of birth. I trust my body and my network of support - my husband, my mum, my doctor, the nurses - to coach me through it. Hormones are not talked about enough, either, how the uterus needs you to trust it to do its job. Trust, relax, allow ❤️

This has always been something I've been stuck on, having giving birth twice. I did lots of mental work before giving birth (and physical work), including hypnobirthing and reading on this subject. But I felt like such a failure during birth. With my first, I got an epidural after 15 hours of very intense labor. She was posterior. Making that my focal point for my second, I really worked hard to keep him in an anterior position, since I planned a home birth. So much leaning forward lol! However, he switched to posterior when I went into labor, and that's how he was born. It was extremely painful, despite all my prep. Here's the thing: when labor started with my 2nd, I was asleep. I woke up with painful contractions. Why were they painful, if the main cause of pain in labor is fear/tension? I was as relaxed as I could possibly be! But the pain was what woke me up, and it never went away (I didn't even have breaks to rest between contractions, because of how my son presented). I was so disappointed and very discouraged during the labor. For this one, I'm embracing that there will be pain, and that my child will likely be posterior due to my bones. I think that will mentally do me a world of good.
@carissafitzgerald5351 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. There must be different types of labors based on the person. I don’t think she can be so dogmatic that pain just comes from fear and anxiety. My guy was posterior too. I tried with every ounce of my body to relax and I was not anxious. I was determined to go natural. But the pain in my back and pelvis was unbearable. I definitely think the pain is worse when you’re having back labor. And it’s not your fault because you’re scared or not relaxed. You did awesome Mama.

I'm due in a week... my second child. I wasn't afraid the first time, but it was... how to say... not the way I imagined it - after being 10cm dilated I was pushing for 6 hours trying to go naturally, but ended up having c-section. During the whole time I had minimum epidural and it was so painful and horrifying... now I have anxiety expecting the next one.

If you had epidural you did you get it before 4 centimetres dilated? There's a NIH study about epidurals having double more csection before 4 centimetres dilation because it interferes with many natural processes. You should look it up so you can be better prepared next time. There's an older study that says that epidurals don't make it easier to get a c-section but all the women were dilated past 4centimeters and all the other studies plus the most recent ones show that that study only proved that epidurals given before 4 centimetres have more complications.

I labored for a day at home, then another 24 hours unmediated at the birth center I planned to have him at. Then 13 hours at the hospital. His head just wasn’t coming down, and I was absolutely exhausted. Had to have a c section after all that :( I was able to manage my pain until back labor kicked in. Back labor is not painless, and so hard to breathe through. I don’t wish that pain on anyone!!!!! I would try natural birth again, but all the girls in my birth class that had their babies naturally said it was painful lol and some took hypno birthing etc. One girl said it’s a lie when they tell you that you can’t feel your baby tearing you. She said she felt everything and heard it 😅 I just want to be real. But I’m crazy and will try again.

This is a troll, most counties are losing their population less children are being born so they pay people to have children. Japan and Korea are in the danger zone because their birth rates are so low, old people out number the young. More people are dying then being born. Their are some countries that are overpopulated but more countries are underpopulated. Child birth is not a punishment, are you Catholic?
