As an old top sport participant (rowing, world champion 1984) it was 99% of the times the 2nd over the line who were the most exhausted. Just an observation.

Your title "Femke Bol says the 400m is the Hardest Race" is never mentioned in your video and is probably just a lie. She competes in the 400mH (hurdles) which is a harder race than the 400m (physically at least), so it would be weird for her to say that. Many 400m runners don't collapse at the finish because of fatigue but because of the pain of the lactic. Many great 400m runners have the ability to cope with the lactic buildup better. Femke Bol for example has said in interviews that she actually enjoys lactic sessions in training, where most athletes hate those. The 400m is the longest distance that is still referred to as a sprint. With the 100m and 200m lactic isn't much of a problem, but with the 400m the muscles don't want to cooperate anymore for the last 100-150m. Starting too fast is certainly a common problem for 400m runners, but I don't know why you're only point of reference is a 800m runner, which is NOT a sprint and as such a completely different race...
