We are Fil-Canadians now living near Northern Cali. For us, our mainstay Christmas decor during this season will always be a manger scene, and I may position several of it around the house. At the bay window there would be a Filipino parol/Christmas lantern with built-in Christmas lights. Used to put up our stand alone Christmas tree indoors, but it has now become risky with our feline furry babies, so we improvised and re-purposed a framed wall mirror that has ginseng-like metal branches and that's where we put some Christmas ornaments, lights, or hung any Christmas card we may still get in the mail. These past few years, we have somewhat mellowed down on putting up many Christmas decors outdoors. Just keeping it simple yet enough to show we do celebrate this special season. We do meet family, but since we live in different areas of California we have to set a special time for it, sometimes even moving it an earlier date, since some may also be very busy with their own work related Christmas schedules as the season peaks up. The season is a mixed bittersweet time too since both our parents are gone now, and my Mom actually passed away in 2015 on Dec 23, so that date have heavy set emotions always. Love lechon ❤, I fondly call that as 'killing me softly food' hehe, so only small controlled portions..Christmas will always be a good time to touch base with family and friends. Many of our elders are now gone, and we are now the next generation elders, so it is like looking back at how we spent our fun times before when our families were truly complete, and being blessed now that we still manage to touchbase even via short messages to other relatives who we mutually love and respect through the years. Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon! 🎉🎉💥🎄
