@@dominoprzybilski7865 No, it’s an alternate timeline. Similar but not quite the same. He changed a point in history in our reality and a new timeline broke off from there. Still our same reality/universe

@@dominoprzybilski7865to elaborate on what the other user said, in the comic, the animated Flashpoint Paradox movie and even the CW show, Barry is the only Barry in Flashpoint and his memories were being slowly over-written the longer the timelines stayed the same. It’s not another universe in the Multiverse. It’s the same universe but with the timeline changed. “Alternate timeline” is less specific, so I’d say it’s an “altered timeline”. That’s why he couldn’t just run back home. He needed to undo it. SPOILERS FOR THE FLASH MOVIE they decided to do some different things with the existence of another Barry but he’s a younger one from the new past. The new timeline now also collided with those of other universes merging with them. So now it’s both a time travel and a Multiversal story.

It's no understatement how much we owe to the Flash in terms of this. It was a Pandora's Box of storytelling possibilities we still use to this day.

I always found pretty incredible that the DC multiverse had existed since the Silver Age of Comics, considering how really simple and PC that era was. I thought it was a great creative decision that they decided to expand the DC lore so enormously and bring back the forgotten characters from the Golden Age.

that era wasn't "PC" by any standards I'm aware of, it was ruled over by the CCA which was essentially just used to remove diversity and nuance from comics. it was pretty much the opposite of PC. Cops could only be shown as the good guys (with a later revision that allowed them to be shown as corrupt so long as it was seen as an exception, so basically just pushing the "a few bad apples narrative"), anything related to LGBTQ issues was strictly banned, it was not PC

Back in the 50's, being PC consisted in following the strict "good and bad" moral concepts of the time and making comic book stories that had a pretty basic plot and characters. This takes me back. When I was at High School, I had to do a presentation, so I decided to do it all around western comic book history and when I got to the silver and bronze age, I was surprised in the research behind this Flash issue, it fascinated me and my colleagues with it's legacy in books like Spider-Men and the context surrounding it at the time as well as how much this still influences the entertainment industry today.

i think my main problem with marvel's use of the multiverse in the comics nowadays is main character syndrome. one of my favorite things about the original introduction of the multiverse in marvel comics was that the universe we follow was made Earth 616. DC chose for all the main universes to be special. earth 1. earth 2. earth prime. etc... in marvel, they defied that trend, saying "in a multiverse, why should we assume that the characters we follow are more important than any other universes?" but with plot points in things like Spider-Verse and Secret Wars 2015, earth 616 has gradually become more and more of Marvel's own prime earth, with the entirety of the current marvel multiverse having been created by the Reed Richards of earth 616, Spider-Man of earth 616 being "The chosen one," and Captain Britain/Betsy Braddock of E616 being the leader of all Captain Britains.

Still would be nice if Marvel/DC could make a Crossover..i mean MARVEL does World ending events almost EVERY 2-3 Month so lets make a Simple story that somehow some big new Evil Unites DC and Marvel Villains and Heroes have to join forces to beat em..though BECAUSE of Marvel Event fatigue they Should first have 2-3 years when they ARE not making "Earth/Universe is in danger" event

I wonder if anyone remembers that the golden age earth II Wonder Woman had a doppelgänger first. Interestingly enough Gardner Fox originally was going to call the Justice Society Earth, Earth I, as they were first, Justice League obviously would have been Earth II, however a writers mix up mentioned Barry Allen Flash II home as Earth I. DC stuck with it saying Anthro, the First boy on Earth was from Earth One.
