As a world traveler, I can understand this. He's only doing what most other countries do. Every country I've been to, Americans need visas to enter, and if we want to work in that country, we have to get residency and work permits, but, those countries will hire locals first, so Americans or other foreigners aren't taking jobs from their citizens. I mean if Americans have to do things the legal way in foreign countries, then those wanting to work and live in America should go about it the legal way as well. This will also open up jobs to Americans. We need those jobs, and deserve them. This is our country and so we should be allowed access to jobs first. However if Americans don't want those particular jobs, then grant the illegals residency and work permits, make them legal.

Moreover, those patriot farmers are going to be delighted to know that nobody is going to pick up their harvest, specially those in the citrus industry that are already struggling with their harvest due to citrus diceases like hlb and acp, which, is killing the majority of their crops and the little leftover is going to be left to rot...this is literally: "reap what you sow"...elections have consequences and Florida is the perfect example of that; I hope floridians get to enjoy what's about to come. Undocumented, they can’t complain against low pay, bad working conditions, no healthcare. The COMPANIES should be penalized because they are exploiting human beings who only want a better life. If the problem is that these people do not have papers... then facilitate papers for them. I don't mean make them citizens... give them working permits for a few years.. say 5. In the meantime, they are required to learn English, take civic/citizenship classes.. and at the end of those 5 years they can apply for Residency (green card). After we make sure they are English proficient and have no police record.. then they can be given Residency. Now, if the problem is that you do not want them here for other reasons other than not having papers... then that is another issue for another discussion.

Now the construction industry is gonna have a real struggle and will have to stand up to the plate and raise wages for legal workers. Very few Americans want to work in the jobs that immigrants usually work in, especially in the construction field. I worked as an apprentice electrician for nearly a year in commercial construction and most of the crew was either venezuelans or mexicans. Construction is not pretty, it's dirty, the environment is loud and depressing to look at, and I mean during the first stages of it's development. The pay is not good in Florida, I know in some other states the trades pay really good and have strong unions but that's not the case in Florida. They are going to have a really hard sell trying to convince young people why they should opt into becoming an electrician instead of getting into tech, which is what I'm trying to do right now getting into college.

Honestly the house developers pay really well the problem is that the work trades are not willing to increase labor per hour they pay by the day or square footage, I recently got promoted to be a field manager and I see what the other side looks like and they can afford to pay workers more
@ChaosAngel667
@ChaosAngel667 Жыл бұрын
They dont want to pay per hour period. The same with farmers, those jobs need to be paid by results. Even in México nobody pays construction workers per hour, they get paid per project like "Miguel does the concrete, he and his crew gets 1000 dollars and when they are done they move to another house to earn another 1000 dollars. Miguel is in charge of paying his crew." Same with farming, here the land owner rents a truck lets say it holds 4 tons of produce, he hires Jose to pick it up, he shows up with his crew and organize to fill the truck everyday for a week and get paid by those results. Jose then pays everyone in his crew according to their work.

This is good though. This creates a very interesting opportunity for these places to hire citizen workers, if they can’t afford legal workers for a proper rate then you don’t have enough money. Illegal workers are a major issue for local economy because too many people are cheap and want cheap labour. Like I said, if you can’t hire locals for the job, your company shouldn’t be allowed to be in business. There should be no illegal workers in any country. They’re the main subjects and victims of unfair treatment and exploitation. I don’t care if they need to support their families somewhere else, this system of exploitation needs to stop and all the shady businesses needs to be fined and shut down. Anyone who disagrees with this are enablers of issues, crime and illegal activities.

@@jeffreyburney6161 farmers breakeven are very high right now, if stores don't want to pay that then we're all doomed. A farmer can pay someone higher but that doesn't mean the stores want to pay that in difference. I see more farmers retiring and low volumes of food coming out, at least with that with whatever food is being produced its going to be high. If stores don't want to pay for higher price for the low volume coming out then they'll most likely import produce from Mexico. Floridians are cheap, they'll go for the lower price of food if quality is the same. Florida might just lose all its farmers in a few years competing with imports. What's going to happen is employing undocumented immigrants will have to their wages. One of the things people complain about in Florida is how the cost of living goes up but wages stay stagnate. In 2020 to 2022 Florida has had almost 500,000 transplants. We do not have a labor problem. I agree with the governor, people should be legal to enter and work in this country. Working illegally and avoiding taxes actually hurts working middle class tax paying citizens. Why not help our own citizens like the homeless Americans in our streets instead of giving free resources to undocumented folks. As a regular law abiding hard working American I find it unfair to demand so many rights when you're not doing your part to become legal and expect resources handed to you. P.s. please do not respond to my comment with ignorance and hatred. 😂

Exactly. That is why desantis is doing this. No more 10 dollar an hour illegal immigrants to over work and underpay. Fair wages for legal Americans will happen. These farm owners will finally pay employees their worth.

How is a new immigration bill making it harder for people to work without papers?. The state of Florida knew you need papers to work in the US in the first place. Sounds like the Mayor/Governor & the US Customs & Immigration not doing their job. It looks like they're trying to say it's more illegal immigrants in the workplace of Florida then US citizens....

I live in an HOA complex in Northeast US. We love to garden & grow a lot of stuff. The landscapers, tree people & workers that come here always ask me if I’m Spanish. I’m not. I’m Irish, scotch, Canadian. It made me realize (most) white people can’t or don’t grow food.

The people who are complaining have companies and businesses where they are not looking to hire legal Americans because they have to provide a living wage, good health care,and retirement. Along with holidays off with pay, vacation time with pay, and PTO days. Illegals who don’t know the law will work for $6.25 without taking any days off.
