As a Westerner, one of the reasons why I became Hindu was bc I researched the origins of yoga, meditation, ayurveda, etc. I understood that in order to practice these things authentically, I needed to embrace Sanatana Dharma. This is why I always say that Hinduism needs to be considered a religion so our practices aren't whitewashed/watered-down from its source. Stripping yoga of its dharmic origins and commercializing it, is blatant appropriation of a sacred practice. In Sanskrit it is pronounced as YOGA but in Hindi it is pronounced as YOG. So calling it YOGA is right. योग is pronounced YOGA in Sanskrit but in Hindi योग is pronounced as YOG because Hindi language cuts syllables in the end. You can only pronunce योग(YOG) or योगा (YOGAA) but we cannot pronunce YOGA in Hindi language. People who do not agree can refer to "The Sanskrit Channel" on KZbin. Hindus are by nature mostly unbiased people. We tend to look at things with an open mind. I too don't want to be biased against any other ideologies and religions. However, when I see that every other single ideology in the world is totally biased against us, I too can't help but become biased in favour of my own ideology - the greatest and oldest of all - The Sanatan DHARMA.
