1. for the new og mode, remove all the mechanics that weren't in og fortnite (sprints, pull-ups, etc.) - if someone doesn't want to get used to it, there's a regular mode where they can do it all. 2) I think that in general they should bring back the old movement, because they changed it only because of the sprints, which I think should not be in a game like fortnite (same for pull-ups and sliding). 3. if someone doesn't think so, it means they don't understand the concept of "original fortnite" 4. wait and watch this game revive and enjoy the chill gameplay, not the constant stress of someone blowing some lightning or other too op item at you. Then they'll realise that such huge changes to maps, item pools etc were pointless (+ a storyline that went into avengers and other co-op instead of continuing the storyline of simple fortnite)

You nailed it with the commentary. The beauty of Ch1 was in its simplicity, no advanced movement, turbo builds or excessive collabs. The game was just what it needed to be and had a beautiful cartoony aesthetic that was consistent. Content additions felt meaningful because every new POI (named or unnamed) and weapon added something to the sandbox since there wasn't so much constant change, rather small additions.

@@damann7778 shut the fuck up bitch. The game WAS better, and now you fight against AI bots every game. Most modern multiplayer gaming has gone to shit and that’s why people miss old fortnite. Epic games literally edges old Fortnite onto the player base. They know and we know old Fortnite is better. Fortnite OG made them so much money they decided to vault it and save it as a last ditch effort to revive the game when it starts dying (greed), then replaced it with chapter 2 remix (who tf missed chapter 2 😂), to only give us that little bit of old fortnite and not the whole thing (edging). As a former Fortnite player here is my opinion on how to fix the game: OG art style/graphics, OG movement (for 0 build new movement is fine), OG animations (especially for movement), OG ui, OG sounds (especially for running), a storyline that makes sense, NA west and NA east servers back so you don't have to live in Texas to not have 70 ping, an interesting map like ch1-ch2, keep the loot pool simple like back in ch1 and part of ch2, hit scan except for certain weapons like snipers, arena mode back, good prize pools for cash cups (like in ch2) and other competitive events, no more stupid collab skins or at least try to make them look like they fit into the game (you can see this in early collab skins they actually gave them the fortnite style), no poi's centered around collabs, more interesting and fun game modes (floor is lava, 1 shot, etc), OG game select ui official epic games modes first with a side menu for user made creative games so it's not so cluttered and impossible to navigate, and simple item shop that doesn't have 10 billion items.

Fortnite can never be OG again, no matter how many times they bring back the map, and the guns, it was never that. It was the experience, the low skill level, and the freshness of the game. Sweats made it so Fortnite would never be the same. Also, the reason the game was so good back then is because the devs would actually test the game, now they just make the most OP thing ever and leave it since it's apart of the season and sweats love doing 200 damage instantly.

the problem is, that the focus of the game changed, the creators of the game wanted to keep staying on their battle royale focus, yet ceo of epic games wanted to focus on creative maps (because thats where the money is) so fortnite became more like roblox, like a big game engine that had every game you could think of inside, its not about being a battle royale game anymore, its about being THE game and that holds way more players and has more potential of staying relevant over time. So we got shorter games for casual players, more op items that made it easy to win, bots, and alot of collab skins because thats easy marketing, fortnite isnt just a game anymore, its just the perfect marketing platform and a thing, that catches gamers in general, even if they dont like shooters.

Another thing that was very distinct to OG Fortnite was the lack of fast movement. There we're no cars or vehicles until mid-late in chapter 1. It really made you play and think much more strategically. you always had to watch and consider where the storm was back then where as now you can forget the storm even exists until its right on top of you and then just hop in a car and outrun the storm. Also it made chasing and running away from engagements much trickier as you couldn't just simply drive straight up into someone or just hop in a car and disengage from a fight. edit: also the game back then just felt so lonely and empty (in a good way). The day night cycle with the slightly blurry graphics and almost eerie silence to the game just added so much to the experience.

fortnite will never be the same, theres new players everyday that have never experienced OG fortnite. They would most likely not enjoy it and if we get it all back it wouldn't feel the same. In the mean time we kinda have to miss the good old days but the memories will always be there atleast.

Manteling & sprinting actually helps a lot of casual players stay with the game. Without it, they would either have to start building or just hardscope & sit there. At low MMR build mode, all they do is try manteling the wall or run around. Take that away & suddenly they're back to pickaxing into builds & sitting there or just spraying till they die.

Fortnite will never and can never be the same, Epic uses it as a tech demo for future Unreal Engine versions in an effort to shop it around to other developers. Battle Royale will continually reinvent the wheel and change up its lighting and graphics to show off what Unreal is capable to people who they are trying to get interested in the engine. The cartoon style will not return simply because it takes too long to make assets and wouldn't allow them to make seasons as quickly as they need to ensure they are constantly pushing the envelop and HAVE to do so. The movement will also no return, period. We already know that Chapter 6 is introducing a universal grappling tool; as has been leaked for months in advanced. People need to understand that they cannot go back in future chapters due to the fact they have a dedicated playerbase that keeps playing due to the fact the game is constantly evolving. If they were to retain the old feeling, it would alienate many people who have come into the game and didn't experience the former chapters. It makes no sense to change course, which is something none of you understand. It cannot and will not go back. The best you will get is when Chapter 1 starts repeating as its own mode next month. Enjoy that, but do not stifle Epic's creativity and desire to mix things up in an effort to bring in new players and foster continued interest and growth. It would kill the game.

I really love this take, and I agree with everything being said. I think another problem too, is when it comes to skins, modern fortnite players do not care about how cool a skin is and how it is relevent to the storyline. In terms of the whole buildings seeming farther away idea, I think there are two main reasons. One is that there was a slight fog, and two, the movement speeds used to be walk and run, but now they changed it to run and sprint, which means we can get everywhere a lot faster

I'm so happy there's finally someone who doesn't glaze hitscan like it gives them the best backshots in the world. I think projectile feels so much more immersive and makes fortnite's gunplay so much more interesting and skill-based. Having projectile would actually also really contribute to cutting down on building, as you need a little bit of extra skill to hit players instead of just building the burj khalifa, aiming at their general hitbox and immediately doing half their health bar. I think fortnite needs to go in a direction where their artstyle is closer to that of chapter 1's cartoony style but the mechanics are more realistic. Also, as much as I like the old movement, it's unrealistic for it to come back as it's essential to get to the same places in zero build as you can in builds. They also need to have a huge UI overhaul if they wanna go down the metaverse route. I'm not actually against the metaverse idea as long as the style of the games is still relatively linked to fortnite's identity. The old home menu, from when creative was first added, would work great for this, as it wasn't intrinsically linked to any game modes and felt like a neutral ground between modes. Oh yeah and they need to recontinue development of save the world because that gamemode is genuinely so amazing and they could definitely update some of the models for the husks to look similar to the monsters we had in horde rush, just to make it fit with the slightly updated style. Having save the world being consistently updated would bring the community back to it for sure, obviously upping the player count and expanding their audience a lot more.
@barbecuenuggets4755Ай бұрын
Every thing but your take on the movement was good. I think all they really have to do is just insert the original jog animation or add the new technology to the old running cycle. The current movement we have now breaks when you try running to the left and taking out the shotgun at the same time. It wouldn’t be so bad if they’d just made sure the system was polished before releasing it.
@fridgelol2234Ай бұрын
@@barbecuenuggets4755 Yeah sorry, I should've been more clear, I'd still love for the old movement to come back, I was mainly just referring to his suggestion of removing mantling and vaulting, because they're an integral part of zero build. Great video, bro. I'm from Brazil and I watched it with subtitles. About the game, I believe that the society we live in is caring much more about the profit that the game will generate. Of course, there's no way to think of a living game without profit, but putting that above all else, focusing on collaboration skins and increasingly realistic and "beautiful" so that the game becomes, in a way, an extension of what life is. Just like you said, it could end up losing its initial essence, if we take into consideration that the focus was on saving the world, that is, all the aesthetics came from and went with saving the world. I'm not saying that I like saving the world, but that the reuse had an expiration date, unfortunately. I would like to see a reinterpretation of saving the world with Battle Royal. That's it, thank you for understanding my opinion (if there's anything unclear in my explanation, leave it so I can clarify it).

One thing that made OG fortnite so good was that players were still new to building mechanics in a gun based game. People were slow when building and the game felt slower. People got better over time so the skill gap grew. Streamers made claw grip/scuff a "meta" and going into settings to get the perfect controller/keyboard setup. The game was great when you just loaded in and played, it was a level playing field.

And fortnite nowadays just has a map that feels bland and lacks essence. idk, it could just be me, but i really think they were putting so much more detail and attention into the map design before, and it doesn't happen anymore.

My first game, November 4th 2017 (as of this comment 7 years ago) the game was minimal, but also magnificent back then. What a time it was.

100% agree, nah, 1000% agree. I miss old aesthetic so much. Orange sunrise and sunset, purple night. Ah mannn... And also LTMs. They were so good, battle royale but with a twist. Now they got rid of them and shifted completely to the creative. During first half of this year me and my friend returned to the game after over a year, maybe even close to two years and we had a blast. It was so much fun but definitely it isn't the same as it used to be. This is probably the game that gives me most nostalgia especially watching some old videos. Feels like I played it my entire life but it's just 6 years...

this video really set in stone that my original view of the game "albiet quite innocent and naive as i was 12" had so much more aww in it the game had a feeling that hasnt ever been recaptured in any of its updates, inlcuding fortnite og, it lost that in the late parts of season 3 where the graphics had changed already and the overall design felt alot closer to what we had for the next 7 ish seasons till chaper 2, which theres nothing wrong with that but that "fortnite" view that u showed me again with the music and gameplay footage i wish i could feel ingame again

In my opinion, the main problem of modern Fortnite is that it forgot its supposed to be a survival game, they give you everything now. storm does not present a danger or worry anymore, theres shields everywhere, health everywhere, legendaries and epic weapons everywhere, theres no sense of reward on surviving, nor tension, nor any kind of shock for winning since its too easy. simplicity and the danger feeling was the core of the game, and when you remove that, the funs thats there to be had is at least 80% lower.

Luckily I managed to play season 3 when it was still fresh, it wasn’t as bare like season 0-2 but it was still simple. The whole landing at those small poi’s really brought back relaxing memories of just kicking back and playing Fortnite with my friends

Tbh now that I think about it I feel like it can never feel 'perfect' again purely because of the fact that the game has been out for 7 years now so we've gotten so used to the game and it doesn't have that same feeling of being such a unique game, as well as the fact that we have also grown up

They used to have templates showing how the game objects looked. All kinds of low poly shapes really made everything stand out. Also we had a bunch of quests involving non combat stuff. To me that stuff made the look of old Fortnite. I also agree on turbo build. I used to be decent before it was added, but once it was added I had to relearn how to be average. It really hurt the regular Fortnite players in the end.

started playing fn back in 2017 and was a game that brought my entire extended family together. Really miss the feel of OG. No easy kills or wins. A win doesn't feel like anything nowadays with all the bots inside the game. Hopefully they are able to bring back season 1-7 from OG

I started in Chapter 2 Season 7 (I say that but I did play the final day of Ch2 S6, and I originally got the disc for the game in 2019) and it felt pretty simple and fun. There wasn’t all of these fancy guns and weapon mod benches, augments, and even though there were UFOs and stuff, it was just… great. Now it feels less nostalgic, because I’m more skilled at Fortnite. I know everything about the game. Back then, I just played it and was like “oh cool battle royale game wow”

The games change in pace is perfectly represented in their choice to add sliding, sprinting and parkour in the game. Where as back in the day you used to focus on aim now most fights just feel like a crumbled mess of people jumping sliding and climbing around

what i miss the most is just how the game felt back then… sure it’s probably some nostalgia… i was a freshman in high school when it was like chapter 1 s3-4 … it was a really good time in my life and having that gaming experience was unforgettable. But what i miss the most about the game is just the way it presented itself the game had so many wild characters that although being variations of the default skins all looked so unique on their own. I remember i’d see loading screens and just think “i wonder what’s going on in that world of theirs” seeing things changing slightly on the map every so often was really cool… i had never played a game where it would change before your eyes while still being live… so everyone would experience it. The first skin i ever got was abstrakt the male version of the painter skin… i thought i was so cool bc none of my friends had it and i had my own skin. Those days can never be brought back… forget the sweats you’ll find them in every game… the days of wondering what would happen next, seeing all those skins for the first time, choosing one that you’d inevitably run with for months even years… those days can’t be brought back

There is an idea that I had about how Epic should have designed building from the beginning so it never got out of hand. You should never able to edit your builds until they are fully built and you can’t run while being in blueprint mode

So if you've ever played brawl stars you might have heard of their brawl talks they do every 2 months or so, where the community managers come talk about the game and what's to come. I always wanted fortnite to have something like that. It's clear, fun and just strengthens the bond between the developers and the community, because they can share their thought process.

I think to add on to the comment about the game's aesthetic and gameplay, chapter 1's art style, movement, and sound design along with the way its map was structured made the game feel like a place that you *exist* in, rather than just play on. A big thing about nostalgia in video games is the player's natural ability to do things outside the main objective, without the game giving them any incentive to do so. Things like rocket riding, the four corners challenge, skybases, goofy stuff with the shopping cart, the items added to the game that *encouraged* the players to get creative. I remember when playground came out, people would land on the map to just do whatever. The game really had that "sandbox" feel to it, and playground taking away the main objective meant players would find their own ways to keep themselves entertained, whether it meant covering Dusty Divot, having an hour-long fight in Tilted, racing with your friends, etc. I feel like modern Fortnite's update direction funnels players into a movement heavy, turbo-building style, and anyone who tries to deviate from that style has a natural disadvantage, and any updates that provide alternate playstyles end up heavily criticized by the community. It's with this current update direction, map, and loot pool that I feel that something like playground couldn't work. Players aren't given the tools to get creative with how they want to play since Epic has nerfed or removed anything that deviates from the direction they've sort of trapped themselves in. Hearing the leaks about chapter 1 returning permanently, I hope they really think about what made it special and do more than just the bare minimum like Fortnite OG, though I do think making it a separate core mode is a great way to go about it since it allows Epic to cater to different playerbases without feeling like you're upsetting a large chunk of people (also bring back LTMs!!!!).

I've been playing Fortnite since the original season 3, and the game simplicity back then was what got me in. I can barely play a hour of modern Fortnite without getting headaches, theres lots of diferent weapons to choose that kinda play the same function, the weapon mods and medallions plus the overdetailed graphics just feel like too much. Back in chapter one everything was more fleshed out, a smaller but practical loot pool with some fun items, the graphics and even the map (both the island and the Hud map) simplicity was easier in the eye, also the overall gameplay just felt easier to understand than today's. And not to mention the LTMs,storytelling, big seasonal changes and the originality in everything , i remember going to school in the morning and getting hyped up to boot the game and see what features the new season had. I barely played this last Marvel season, because it was just a lot of ramdom itens smashed together, a lot of collabs down the throath like all of chapter 5 has been. So if Fortnite desires to be as good as it once was, they have to approach the nostalgia in a diferent way, not by bringing old maps and weapons back, but as you said, the aesthetic, if Epic made a new map, new guns, new battle pass, but all in the old style, the nostalgia would most certainly kick in, more than those seasons OG. (Pardon me if my grammar is poor, english is not my first language and im writing this late at night)

I’ve always said the addition of creative is what changed the game so rapidly lol. The casual player can’t hop on and compete against people who grind. You’d think fortnite would’ve realized that after all the praise zero build got!😂if they would remove turbo build the game would feel so nostalgic again
