Hi Travis, I was in Hoi An just last week, and will defininately get a suit and shoes made on my next visit.... Just for reference, a bespoke suit made on Savile Row in London will cost between £3500 - £10,000 or 115 million vnd - 329 million vnd depending on the choice of fabric. For bespoke shoes you will usually pay £3000 upwards, or 98 million vnd. I'm looking forward to the wedding video, as I'll be going to a couple next year in Hai phong which is my wifes home city. I just returned to the UK yesterday from Danang, and already can't wait to get back home

I've had three leather motorcycle jackets made there over the years and am happy with all of them. The ride down there is enjoyable, nothing to complain about LOL. We'll be there in January.

The real point is in how you feel and how you like the pieces you have made. This process is custom and handmade for you and in part this is what is being paid for. Now, there really many ways to go about it and knowing that once “in” its on you to get the pricing out of the way… it is what it is. Then there is letting yourself really enjoy what you’re involved in. This will carry forward and so inform what you are looking for as your choices become better and better also. Personally, I have one of those bodies that nothing, and I mean nothing, fits off of the ready to wear racks. When I finally had my first pieces made and was taught how clothes could fit I never looked back. After having clothes made in London, Milan and Hong Kong it really came down to materials and details as by this point I knew what I wanted in terms of fit and feel. Then it’s choosing according to how or where you would wear these garments…… welcome to the world of fit clothing. It’s a process and one you’ll grow with overtime if it’s a fi for you in the long run.

In Madrid where I live, a bespokesuit starts at 3.500€ and goes up based on different materials and extras. In London it starts at 5.000£ and goes up from there but they are famous for the craftsmanship.

Some Stores here in New York City 🌃 just take your measurements, let you select fabric then they have the suit made in China or Vietnam . There are also people from these manufacturers that travel the world rent hotel rooms and advertise . Then people come to the hotel room where measurements are taken , fabric selected and they buy suits that way . Then they meet up again in a month or 2 and get the finished suit .

That suit looked great. Time will tell on the longevity. The price, you could not get anything of quality off the rack in the States for that. The shoes. I had custom shoes made in the States about 30-years back. They were $800-900 USD. I contacted a custom shoe shop last year, $800. Good job, worth the trip.

@@TravisTravelsVN It's mostly for ease of movement! Last button on a waistcoat & Suit jacket the last button is always left unbuttoned. If a suit jacket has 3 buttons, you button the middle, if it has 2 you button the top one. If you sit down, you unbutton the jacket. It also puts less strain on the garment, and as said, lets you move more freely and makes the jacket look better overall

Custom made suits start at $800 in New York City at an established old school tailors. , but now some internet stores offer at like $475 . Plus it all depends on the quality and fabric . Custom made shoes are not very common here . Mostly wealthy people or people with odd shaped or odd sized feet. Like a big football, basketball player . So shoes at least $1,000 I would say .

I believe every man should have at least one suit in his wardrobe. And yes, I do look good in suits.

Hey Travis! What kind of fabric and construction was the suit? Wool, polyster, a blend? Also if it's fused, half canvas or full canvas (For the price i'm guessing a blend and Fused construction) I am going to HCMC and Da Nang+Hoi An next year in March purely for suits and other clothing items. Any advice? :D

They had a few types of fabrics, this was either wool or wool/cashmere I remember her mentioning at some point. No idea about half/full canvas. I didn't ask too many questions. @@TravisTravelsVN the thing i don't like about hoi an tailors is precisely this, they don't inform you about your options or give you a menu of options for features. there's just a lookbook and a fabric swatch and off you go. so if you don't ask about pick stitching, lapel roll, half/fall canvas, they will assume you are not knowledgeable and default to whatever is cheaper and faster for them to make.
