We’ll never know cuz Wayne hit the scene at 16. Now they are kept in a safe space till they’re 18. That was Wayne’s best era 16-20. Defenders aren’t allowed to tackle now. Goalkeepers are about the same size as a small striker from the 90s… If prime Ronaldo 9 was in PL now he’d score 100 goals a season for fun. Shearer would be on 40/50. Their just no where near as good now. For England I hope Kai’s good. Really good. But to be better than his dad was now in today’s game he’d just need to be 20% of the player Wayne was and he’ll be the best player in England on 300k a week.

Nah you're just looking at one specific point solely. Defenders tackling,. sliding in helps strikers more than ever since they are commiting themselves and that brings out numerous errors for strikers to exploit. A lot of that in the 90ties, barely players tracking back and pressure or pressing wasn't firmly established You are concerning yourself with the reckless and dangerous two footed and from behind tackles which definitely have no place anywhere in football Standards overtime raised the bar, much more tactical. How every club plays, making it much more challenging
