I setup my FC here before moving to Meagher earlier, I actually stayed here for like 6 months or so since I was waiting for all demn updates to drop (graphics revamp and FC update) then finally moved. While I was here, I had Haven up so i practically AFK'd a bit and then knew that shelter strategy benefitted from Haven's threat reduction lol

I think it would legitimately feel better if the sawmill was able to be set for an automatic 6 materials every 45 minutes. No going down the line over and over again manually could make it at least *feel* better. Or maybe even like 9 materials but costing like 2-3 fuel?
@GitGudFox2 жыл бұрын
It's really like 6 per hour because it takes 15 minutes to do 3 mats... but then the +3 mats job takes 45 another 45 minutes to cool down. You are 100% right that the game needs automation. I hate having to manually activate things. I just want to toggle them on or off.

just brought my 12man forever community here from Trumbull it's insane with the Haven Device as you can use your material manufacturing as fast as you can with no downside . adding the church benefits with the Haven is just bonkers . my setup is Lounge with mini bar upgraded Barracks with stuffed chair Forge to take advantage of materials Haven device The fifth I rotate thru the others as needed The ethanol is a problem but if you switch back and forth between Rusty Rosie's with the biker kitchen it's not a total game breaker as you can run a dual still setup before going to the Lumberyard stocked up on ethanol .
@GitGudFox2 жыл бұрын
Thing is when you say "as fast" in regards to the lumber manufacturing.. that's like 6 materials per hour which is not very much. The +3 mats production has a 45 minute cooldown + a 15 minute production time, so you can complete a cycle of them every hour, and that's assuming you're slamming that button "on cooldown" every time. I just wasn't impressed by it. The rate is too low. I could get a lot more materials for 3500 influence by building celltowers and reducing the Trade Depot call-ins and "find resource" call-ins.

Haven't watched the video yet but I was literally just thinking about how much I like your "What Fox Thinks" videos and here's a new one ready for me to enjoy with my morning coffee. I just ended a community at the Lumber Mill so this should be interesting to watch. Thank you for this. This was one of my favorite bases because I installed the Haven Device and did perimeter sweeps with Firecrackers where I would constantly collect enough Plague Samples to craft 5+ Bulk Plague Cures per day. Added in a Farm 3 for Meds and you have a nearly unlimited source of income via BPC and Strong Pain Killers. Just leave 1 heart at the end and you could do this over and over for a long time. The safe zone extents perfectly around the streets that surround the base so it makes it even easier.

I was about to ask if the Warlord's Armory could take the place of the workshop (freeing up another small facility) but I realize that is not the issue. You need a distillery that fits a large facility slot. I don't think the game developers will be adding any new facilities. Maybe someone could make a mod that allows you to build the distillery from Meagher Valley.

When you start to look at the situation, what you just wind up seeing is that you got a square-shaped block trying to fit into a lumber-shaped slot.

The Lounge autotrains your characters including their 5th skills making it the powerhouse training center of the community. It becomes increasingly relevant at higher difficulties where your EXP is reduced.
@AurioDK Жыл бұрын
@@GitGudFox I tried lethal, I never die to the zombies, I always fail due to lack of stuff and give up. Have only played on Trumbull valley though. Dread/nightmare seems to be more doable given my slow pace. Thank you for the heads up on the lounge.
@GitGudFox Жыл бұрын
You want to see these issues as interconnected. One thing that is probably making you go slower is not having maxed out characters who have tons of stamina, tons of HP, and powerful skills that let you outrun or overpower zombies. The lounge fixes this issue. It also lets you combine skills together. You will probably play faster if your characters are stronger. If a character hits 7 stars, you don't have to choose their skill immediately. Because they're safely training at home, you can wait until their other skills hit 7 stars then make your decisions based on what all of their available skills are.

Do you think the Providence Ridge map is designed for the Leader Warlord? I think about the fact that each card in the list is created for a specific Leader. The list of cards corresponds to the list of Leader buildings when viewing buildings. Namely, Providence Ridge - Warlord Cascade Hills - Builder Meagher Valley - Sheriff Drucker County - Merchant What do you think about my theory? I took buildings exclusively of Leaders, and which they can pump to the maximum. That is, the Sheriff cannot use the Farm, and the Trader cannot use the rest room.
@herrrobert53406 ай бұрын
The Trader feels like the best leader to me regardless of map because of the Trade Depot. Mainly because it's too much of a hassle to travel to different traders to buy and sell.

Fox, you've shown the power of god combo primary care and god combo salvage furnace. You can run both at the same time PLUS keep a trade depot up. I don't understand how that can be true but you still say the base just isn't very good. Yeah, a crafting still would be nice. But, honestly, by the time you get to this base, it is late game. It's not about farming influence anymore imo. It's about plague heart demo. The free 6 lumber/day is mainly there to just to address daily materials losses imo. That way, a staging area or similar isn't needed. Even without the god combos, field hospital, armory, and auto shop means that a workshop and infirmary aren't necessary. Even auto shop is debatable if not going for god combo. I just buy repair kits and am fine. That means you really have your pick with the three indoor slots. I tend to avoid gym and shooting gallery as unnecessary for experienced players, but they are for sure an option. Hydroponics, kitchen depending on playstyle. Skipping cooking/kitchen on this map is definitely reasonable. If this base had an outdoor small facility, I would argue it would be the best base in the game (I tend to downplay Whitney Field influence generation as exploitative, but yes objectively it is strongest). Having a weakness to work around is a good thing imo. This base offers a lot of powerful options with the god combos, neutering the need for workshop and/or infirmary, materials/day, etc. I especially can't imagine downplaying this base when using amenities. The main drawback I have with this base is needing to go with water and power outposts (3k influence on top of the 3500). Or creatively use power mods, but late game I like constant power for quality of life. That tips me more toward hydroponics but I could understand not going that route. Anyway, yeah a person could stay in WBS, but this base does offer some powerful upside options that WBS simply can't match. That makes it worth a look imo and I wouldn't downplay it. Still though, I appreciate your arguments as usual, Fox, even where I find myself disagreeing at times 😊
@GitGudFox2 жыл бұрын
By time you get to this base, you're already able to demolish plague hearts. This base is going to be covered by like 4 hearts on Lethal Zone. If you can clear to this base, you're done. That's why I don't even advise moving into this base. You can beat the game very comfortably from Rusty Rosie's and Westen Builder supply much earlier into the game. Other points. - Water/Power aren't very relevant because you should be using amenities. If you're not, you'd go with Prescott Firestation. - Being able to use god combos in this base isn't unique to Lundergarrde. You can do it better in Whitney Field Farmland Compound and Barricaded Strip Mall. Those bases can do it better than Lundergaarde. - 6 mats per day is basically 1 rucksack a day. That's not hard to find. The bonus isn't very important. You can cover it with a Trade Depot. - Even if this base had 1 outdoor, it'd still be worse because large facilities aren't very good. You don't really need more than 3 meanwhile small facilities are excellent. Lastly, promoting weaknesses of a base... which Lundergaarde has many as an advantage is nonsensical. This review is supposed to be as analytical and free of personal preferences as possible. Weaknesses should never be promoted as a positive for a base. Remember that new players are watching these videos to learn. You would not want to teach new players that a base's weakness is a good thing.
@jrgoertzen2 жыл бұрын
@@GitGudFox With the weaknesses thing, my point was more that it's good that different bases give different challenges/restrictions. It's one of the things I disagree with you on. I don't find it fun to build the exact same build design in every base or play on the same maps all the time. It's nice to work within different design constraints and not look to cookie cutter in the same build all the time is all 😊
@jrgoertzen2 жыл бұрын
@@GitGudFox also re god combos, yeah bases on other maps can do them. My point was that this is the only base on this map that can do it. Comparing to another map doesn't make sense. It's nice to play on a variety of maps instead of just beelining for one base every game, but to each their own.
@herrrobert53406 ай бұрын
IMO it is too annoying to rely on outposts for power and water because infestations happen and I don't want to have to go out of my way to clear them out. It's only alright if the outpost is right next to the base, and even then I would rather avoid it. This base seems like a piece of junk, but I will give it a go the next time I play Providence Ridge with the Builder's Boon activated.

@@GitGudFox Even so, you’ve gotta admit some of their bases are just lazy like the Fenced Warehouse. They’ve shown they can make interesting designs like the Bridge Fort, Lock & Keogh or the Red Talon FOB but they seem to love industrial buildings surrounded by wire fence so much. I reckon in real life most survivors wouldn’t want to leave the starting base since… it’s an actual house and not a concrete featureless room.
@GitGudFox Жыл бұрын
I think the issue is that they made too many maps. I think a single map with all unique bases each with unique gameplay mechanics is preferable to multiple maps of generic bases.
@shushupyounaughtyminx4832 Жыл бұрын
@@GitGudFox I disagree somewhat, I think they should definitely have done less though. I like the diversity of Providence Ridge’s environment and atmosphere and I like the throwback to Trumbull. I’d say condense the 3 vanilla maps into one along with providence as a smaller but unique map and trumbull for the nostalgia
@GitGudFox Жыл бұрын
Well, it's the reason why Trumbull Valley is the most detailed both from a landscape and from a town design perspective. They originally had but a single map in SoD1 meaning they could pour all of their effort into 1 map. When SOD2 first launched, it was a lot more bare bones than it is right now, and it didn't really feel like SoD"2" so much as it felt like SoD1.5 It really wasn't until the return of the Trumbull Valley map that brought unique exclusive quest lines and items that it really felt closer to a complete sequel.
