Seems like a neat card, but the complexity of the point structure is difficult of maximize. If you make only $1 purchases then your golden, but I’m sure most people won’t have that type of charge on their card often.

I have a $500 doctor bill. I use the Citi Rewards card to pay $1.00 per day towards that bill. Keeps it out of collections and gets me a 10x multiplier with each $1 payment. Just about everyone has a doctor bill.
@DugrozReports
@DugrozReports 4 жыл бұрын
2 questions ... (a) are you able to pay your medical bills online without a fee? [I am not able to as far as I know, and we have a lot!] and (b) so that would be 5,000 points ... $50 cash value if used on giftcards ($62.50 in portal). Is that worth doing every day for a year and a half for $50 or $62.50? I do appreciate your knowledge, as I recall you had the comment that kind of "triggered" this video!
@mypointsexactly9124

Dugroz Reports I pay it online. my doctor office does not charge a fee. That doesn’t mean yours won’t. If they don’t then it makes sense. It’s the best way I have found to maximize that 10x category. Whether or not it’s worth doing depends on how fast you want those points. I have 200k points, so I’m in no rush to stock up quickly on points. If you’re trying to get points quickly then maybe a Citi double cash would be a good card to use.
@JakeBroe
@JakeBroe 4 жыл бұрын
I kind of covered this in the video, but if you did this for 365 days, you would net make about $30 in value over the year. To me, that just doesn't seem worth the effort and time. You also risk getting shut down by Citi if they view this as abuse of their rewards system.

Jake Broe fair enough, good point ! But paying $1 per day to avoid collections at no interest, also gives you control over your finances. Sometimes control is just as important as the rewards themselves

Way late but another cool thing about this card would be buying a transit ticket with the card. CTA here in Chicago is $2.50, so 4x for transit is pretty good. Although a monthly transit pass wouldn’t work.

Hey A-Rod! You already have the best card from Citi which is the doublecash. The only thing I think might be worth it is if you are already a Costco member and would want to product change your card to the Costco Visa, which is a great card in my opinion if you already pay for a costco membership. Cheers!

I have no interest in annual fees and no interest in travel. I have the Rewards+, Double Cash, and Custom Cash. They are all linked. So, my DC is essentially a 2.22% Cash Back card and my CC is a 5.55% card, for up to $100 per year. I also use my R+ for anything under $2 which is not uncommon since my wife likes the 99c large iced coffees in the McD app. :) Those dimes add up. ;)

Hi! I’m actually thinking about doing this exact same thing, but what do you mean that it only works for up to $100 per year? Can you only round up to the nearest 10 points on the Double Cash and Custom Cash for up to $100 worth of purchases?
@ptatohed4471
@ptatohed4471 Жыл бұрын
@@jacobcapaldo1204 No, up to $1,000 in cash back spend can get the 10% boost (so $100 extra per year) but round to the nearest 10c on purchases is not limited. Does that make sense?

Hi dear, just found you today. I have a question..back in 2002-2005 I worked for Sears then Citibank purchased Sears. I was a call center cust svc rep. for Citibank. When first hired at Sears call center, I had to give fingerprints, no big deal. Once Citibank purchased Sears they built a huge new building & since I live in a State that hardly paid us minimum, so much of their operations were xferred to our new location. Now, here's the kicker! In order to get into new building, our badges were no longer used to verify ourselves, instead, we were REQUIRED to give retinal scans of both eyes, if we didn't, we would no longer have a job. So, I had to do it. Once I quit, I was ok with the FBI or whomever they sent the fingerprints to for life, but I'm still very uncomfortable about them having my retinol scans on file God knows where! Now, I do understand eye doctors are using scans as well, I don't like that but, what can you do? So, I called Citi Corp, tried to talk to someone several times asking them how I can have those scans deleted. As you can imagine, no anwers, no call backs,nothing. I'm not a paranoid person but I do not feel it's fair for them to keep our info., nor will they tell me where & who still has them. Please delete or hide this Jake, when I typed a search regarding this your site came up..sorry about unloading this on you but am still looking for answers. I'm not a criminal, just would like to know where they are? Your site is very informative, I'm just grateful to not work there any longer for they treated us like slave labor--just horrible--if we didn't offer Rewards or up to 3 other programs that came up on the acct-we'd get a zero for that call..3 calls with a zero got you fired--FACTS! Luckily, I followed all the rules--was never fired but would never ever work for another call center again. Please feel free to delete, just again looking for answers! Take care & Stay well!!!!

Basically, use this card on purchases os less than $5 in order to beat the Citi Double Cash card. I don't really think that this card is that good, but I already have the Citi Thankyou card, and I can turn in it into the Rewards+, so I can at least use it when I make small purchases. In the end, I'm just going to get a couple of dollars back at the end of the year, but at least this'll keep my neurons working and it'll stop dementia from hitting my life in forty years from now. Thanks for the video.

Great video! I didnt have any knowledge of this card before. Quick question (feel free not to answer if you dont want it public) - If you don't mind sharing, what is your average engagement time (% of video watched), and how do you recommend increasing that time?

My engagement time is currently 6:25 over the last 28 days. My videos are always in the 40% ~ 50% retention range. I acknowledge my channel is currently doing very well, but I had to make and upload 30 videos before i hit 100 subscribers. For new channels... you just have to keep making content. You naturally will get better as you practice filming and editing yourself. If you improve, the views and subscribers will just come naturally after a couple months.

Obviously I'm not Jake, however, I was in a similar situation with Citi last year. I had the citi simplicity as a starter card many years ago which had grown to a limit of about 10K and didn't want to just close it or leave it idle for too long since there's no value toit unless you need to carry a balance. So I actually called Citi product changed my Simplicity --> Rewards + card; this was back in Oct/Nov '19. To this point as Jake mentioned, the Rewards + best value is for small purchases (
@JakeBroe
@JakeBroe 4 жыл бұрын
The Citi Simplicity card does not appear to earn any rewards when you use it, so I definitely think you should product change. The Rewards+ has no annual fee, so it is a keeper card. It also has a static ability earning you 10% points back if you ever try and redeem Citi ThankYou Points with any other card.
