Am in Pune in India, not so sure about smaller towns, but mid level to larger cities all have pretty decent speeds. I use Airtel 1 Gbps for about $50 bucks a month. Loads of providers for 100/200/300 mbps.

In the last 10 years, the internet rapidly improved in India. especially after Jio :) I still remember in 2005 when I am looking for IT job, it is very difficult to just upload my Resume :) now COVID time my entier Bangalore team working from home without any issue. so internet 90% no issue, except if u have some bad luck or due to heavy rains .. else power nad internet not an issue.

I live in rural part of India. Frankly speaking, internet speeds in rural part is really improving day by day now. In my area, only BSNL provides broadband service right now and soon Jio and Airtel may expand too. BSNL broadband gives a speed of 100mbps ie, 12.5 MBPS for price of 300₹

There is a difference in scale. In US the scale is Mbps, but in India, it is MBps. 1 Byte is 8 bits. 1 MBps=8Mbps.

Now india is doing good with 4G in place, what's most impressive is the plan. No where else in the world you find such cheaper plans. Thanks to Jio, if you are living in a remote place away from the City no option go for BSNL. Jio/ACT is the better option otherwise. Vodafone is gone down in recent times, Indians not even considering having a new connection of vodafone.

Late to comment here (late subscriber). Homes in Metros in India are normally operating at 100+ mbps at $15 a month. In Illinois, comcast (xfinity) was charging me $20 for 10mbps after the "promotion" period. In 2020 Jio & Airtel are leading the mobile internet speed wagon.

There are plans from 50 mbps to 1gbps. Cost also varies as per the plan. But if you compare it with most of the western countries. You will find internet cheaper in India. Currently i am using 100 mbps plan and paying 650 per month and if i pay for 6 months in 1 go then i will get free internet for another 3 months.

I remember 7 years back when I used to bunk my school spent my entire weeks pocket monet to buy 200mb Airtel pack and waiting for facebook page to look on which I was only able to see my profile pic. and it was very slow too back then. But now I have unlimited data with 550 month weekly. The network rarely goes.

Jio fiber - you would get 1 Gbps but you have to pay more for that - speed is according to your plan.

fiber internet are pretty cheap here, i have netplus fiber of 50 mbps for 600 inr and 100mbps for 800 inr per month. Its pretty stable and good. Location Ludhiana, punjab

I am from Goa and m using 200 Mbps speed plan fiber of which I get 150 Mbps to 195 Mbps speed on average....so net is not slow here ...u can even get 1 Gbps speed but have to pay higher .....yes mobile net speed not stable but u get around 1 mbps to 3speed most of the time and sometimes even 5-12 Mbps specialy in early morning or late night....yes hotel WiFi speed might be pathetic.....

It's very good specially in metro cities....if you get jio or Airtel fibre or wifi though it depends on your location as towers are overloaded bcz of more registration....you can also opt LAN from local cable operator which I found amazing ...they have rates according to speed....but I am not sure about other cities and suburbs of India.

Benjamin Jenks no I did not, I have a fibre connection which gives 500GB at 50MBPS for 777₹ 1500₹ for the router modem was provided. There is no need to bribe them, but after installation, people usually Tip them as a thank you. It’s usually anywhere from 50-100₹ Bsnl employees don’t even expect the tip, one of them actually refused to accept it.

Mobile speeds are still not good yet. Airtel is good, but jio still has many problems. Don't talk of Vodafone , internet doesn't work while you are on a call Broadband is ok. I recommend you ACT broadband.

There are some misleading terms in the video. In text you are writing mbps but you are saying mega-bytes per second. In mbps when the b is small, it refers to mega bits per second. Conversely, when it is MBps and the B is in caps, it means mega bytes per second. 1Byte=8bits. In the video you are saying mega-bytes whereas in text you are writing as mega bits. This can lead to some confusion among the viewers.

Today in india internet is so cheap that even beggers are using. And speed is also good, but I would like to make some corrections on what you said. BSNL belongs to government and which is working still on 3g and all others are on 4g. Moreover JIO is the best in india, which works even while traveling between Bangalore and Chennai and between some other cities aslo. Moreover today JIO has got the 50 percentage of the internet share in india, which even lot of Indians don't know. Thanks to Jio, just 4 years ago before coming JIO internet was of stonage here in India.

You are technically wrong, Mbps and MBps both are different. If you divide mbps (Mega Bit per sec ) by 8 then you will get MBps (Mega Byte per second ).
