how good is the mitsubishi colt from 2006-2009

Owned 2 a 1.1 and 1.3. My preference was the 1.1. Very useable pleasant cars. Totally reliable. 5 door with rear sliding rear seat. 55 mpg in uk. Easy cruise at 75 mph

Just want to add to boost the sound of the stereo you can manually adjust bass and treble, the sound it produces is average but nothing bad.

I have same car in Red , owned it now for 5 years its the one built in your country the Netherlands a CZ1 Colt and it now has 117 thousand miles on the engine and it still drives very well , they are very basic cars but reliable , it had passed every MOT without fail in the UK for last 5 years , I like that they are so fast in 1st gear as here in my country we have so many junctions and roundabouts so i need to accelerate fast , anyway its a car thats cheap and cheerful and i would buy another when my one eventually dies.

I had a red 1.1 CZ1 as well. It was basic and at times noisy in the cabin, some found it uncomfortable but I didn't. That's fortunate, because that car managed 160,000 miles and I was responsible for 120,000 of them. During that time it didn't break down once and provided me with just one (cheap) repair beyond the usual service/consumables. It wasn't a racing car but I could easily get 55mpg out of it on just about any journey. It was still on its original clutch and exhaust when I parted company with it. Can't beat 'em. And its replacement is... another Colt (1.3 CZ2 this time).

I ahve same car its made in Holland too , best most reliable car ever, have done 104 thousand miles and still no major issues , the Dutch know how to build a solid car.

It was developed in parallel to the Smart ForFour and shares many parts like the platform and daimler engines which is why it has a timing chain insted of a timing belt. Mercedes doesnt use timing belts in general because a lot of times you would have to replace them at about 100.000 km.

The main bad issue in the Colt is the F5MGA Getrag452 manual gearbox has a nasty stiff sticky notchy feeling and doesn't self centre very well. Even the performance versions with the uprated gearbox have the same issues apparently. The European market Colt was also built in the Netherlands.

Mine was also stiff when I bought it at 11 years old. Spray grease on the selector mechanisms and after regular driving it's fine now.

Just bought one of these a 2008 1.5 turbo diesel semi automatic with 69k miles, man I tell you it's fantastic, the 6 speed box is great and the torque from the 3 cylinder diesel apparently made by Mercedes is amazing, again it has 95 bhp and it flies lol, doing 70mph the rpm is barely ticking over 2k so great economy on a motorway. Not sure about the petrol engines though, over all we're enjoying ours and hoping it lasts few years with no problems.

I have one with 1.5 petrol, semi automatic. 109hp makes it a really great car, it runs like a ramping rabbit, i love it!

@@brentwatts6130 hi what I meant by few years was at least 5 years trouble free, it's 78k at the minute and done 9k in 6 months of ownership, I service it myself like oil and filters every 7k miles so hopefully 250k will be achieved. Seen one with 240,000 miles and it was sold as good condition so I'm optimistic 😁👍

@@bh25jay I agree, with a bit of care and regular servicing should do lots of miles. I've seen people just thrash cold engine and it's very bad habit, always easy on the gas til it's warmed up and oil and filter change regularly. 👍

The radio is easily replaced with another original radio. The display is the computer and it causes troubles a lot of times. You could repair it or replace it till it breaks again. Or you just keep it unplugged and drive happily without it.

You can't find one with "real" 85k kms. I have a classic 1.5 petrol, 2005, 5 doors, automatic with 195k km. It was around 2200€ and a few hundred on repairs. I just love it !

He said 15 to 16 km per litre which is like 7 literes per 100 km. Thats also my (1.1 75 PS) average gasoline consumption when driving a mix of country side roads and small city on 20 min rides.
