Racing is not grinding. I think the progression system is great. After 6 races im up to level 26 on a car. It makes you get used to a car rather than horizon 5 where you swap from one car to another all the time.Some people wont like it but thats the same for every game. Best driving game ive played in years.

After watching failraces video on the game yesterday he summed up perfectly what the flaw with the upgrade system is, the problem is it completely gets rid of the freedom that forza motorsport has been known for from day one and that the car economy is completely borked because of it, so yes you can still fill your garage with loads of cars but its even easier now due to the fact credits are only used for buying cars and most of the cars are now stupidly cheap. im praying that turn 10 respond to the criticism of the upgrade system sooner rather than later as this was not the progression most players wanted.

I also wanted progression badly. But I'm not sure if the new upgrade system is right for the long term, or if it quickly becomes monotonous and annoying. Turn10 seems to have simply gone from one extreme to the other. From no progression at all to a grind. The structure of the cups is still the same as in the previous games. Why didn't they do something there? Fewer gifts (money, cars), bring back the brand affinity system, at least optional qualification instead of simply choosing your starting position yourself?

@benn8793 Also, yeah, they've definitely gone from extreme to the other, I'd highly recommend watching failraces video if you haven't already, turn need to change the system fast, oh also most high end cars are now incredibly cheap for example an f40 costs 170,000 credits which is mad, im not saying they should have priced it realistically but still, the most expensive car is the Koenigsegg Jesko and its only 450,000. Also, they should have definitely brought back the brand affinity system.

Yeah it’s not great. Say I buy an 80’s sports coupe, it’ll take 2-3 hours to get it fully levelled up. If I want a different build on the same car I can buy another, but I also need to level that one up just the same. Worse than this, I might spend the time making an E class car into a B class; only to find that the playlist doesn’t necessarily have a race that my build is eligible for. I think progression should look like GT4 or FM4 etc….not this. I do think this system will become tedious.

GT4 mastered the CarPG formula, why does everyone (including current GT) feel the need to keep reinventing it only to be pale in comparison? You get 10k and that can only buy you a handful of used starter cars. The rest is up to you. Simple. Worked time and time again, made games that were replayable for decades. I really like the concept of the upgrade system, and was sold on the progression the moment they announced they had the confidence to remove wheelspins entirely. I do think a sensible middle ground would be to keep earning points per car, but not lock what you can spend those points on behind car levels. Especially as the order in which you unlock certain parts isn't that sensible (tires for example) and bigger upgrades would be inherently more expensive anyway

@@benn87 because the entire point of this system is so that each individual car actually means something. You can't just max out every car as soon as you buy it in the lategame, that's an intentional design decision. There are just better ways of going about it

@@benn87 yeah, obviously. The reasoning behind something doesn't mean it's good or bad though. Personally, I've been wanting a good progression system in a racer for a while and this seems like it could be it. Theres very little reliance on fomo, there's no crazy microtransactions or anything scummy like that. It's in Turn 10s best interest to make the game engaging for as long as possible. That's not necessarily bad, we'll just have to see how they balance it.

I have to disagree with the argument that quali in singleplayer is bad. It would be extremely difficult to make a "fair" qualification and good players would always end up starting from the pole. This system has much more sense from the gameplay perspective. We have a quali in the multiplayer and this is where it is actually important. I don't like quali in other racing games, they never seem to be fair or challenging.

I really dislike the upgrade system, it's just a pointless grind. if the upgrades were tied to , for example, ALL muscle cars, instead of just this ONE car, maybe. It's even worse that apparently, you upgrade a car to level 50 and then buy another identical car,you have to level it back up again which takes a few hours. It's just not fun

I think this is the best alternative I've read so far. I do like the fact you have to unlock parts, but making the upgrade parts class specific would be the best way to fix the overly grindy issue the game currently has.

So I just got done playing the new Forza. And here is my take. I like the physics. I think they're not that bad I think they're pretty decent for a Forza game. I have religiously played Forza for 16 years and this is where I drop them completely. As a car guy first and a gamer second I am very disappointed in my usual go to racing game. Forza used to be about physics and car details. The details in the interior of cars in this new game are horrible. I mean I was blown away at how bad they really are. Half of the interior's for most cars don't even match up correctly. If I give you an example, the interior of the 1990 Miata is of the 1994 Miata which is wrong. The interior of the s-209 is not accurate either. They have messed up a lot of the interior's and the textures are all weird as well. When it comes to the clutch and how you have to be more gentle with a car with a stock clutch I feel like that is really stupid. I can shift my irl car faster than once Forza wants to let you do as they try to be simulate a IRL clutch. I'm not going to say anything about the upgrade system because I'm sure you already know why I don't agree with how they did that. And then one of the biggest things for me is that the nordschleife is not in on launch. I think that is absolutely unnecessary and lazy. This is the longest of Forza game has been on standby. And you're telling me that they aren't going to bring that track in at the beginning? I just don't feel like I should have to put time and wait when I can go play games that have everything I want. I think Forza is going to die because it just isn't what it was and what made Forza so great. I am a huge Subaru fan and when I went and drove the Subaru's in the game they sound absolutely horrible. They do not betray the car sounds as good as people were saying before the game launched. Some cars do sound good but most of them sound extremely inaccurate in my opinion. The shading over the car in the lighting when they hit certain body parts of the car look very bad to me. The game just doesn't look that great to me. They spend more time on the trees and the track layout and how all that looks in combination. I have already uninstalled and requested a refund I give it a 1 out of 10.

@@DaveSpecC so I take it you're a fellow subaru guy! Yeah those are some other details I noticed as well. I am also a big Subaru guy. You can tell most of the people that played this game that review it or just Gamers and don't see the details that like a car guy would see for the most part. And I think that's what irritates us as car people more than anything. I cannot believe this game is getting away with the things that they are doing when they used to take pride in the details. I can't believe how bad the cars look and how bad the models are. The carbon fiber in the interior is really bad. Honestly man I just can't believe that after six years this is how it is. The details that you just explained or exactly what I look for myself and those are things that I've also seen for myself and I don't know why but it just runs through me and I get so irritated. It just doesn't make sense I feel like this game is being ran by just people that are just trying to make a dollar for turn 10 in Microsoft instead of it being ran by people that actually enjoy a vehicle and know what they're doing. This game is extremely easy to drive. This game will hold your hand even with no assists on. There are certain scenarios on the tracks that would not occur on a real track. But they trying to talk about how they're trying to make the game more realistic with this built not bought philosophy. I don't know about you but I've never had to use car points in real life to upgrade my cars. It takes money which that's how the world works LOL this game is far from being built from the ground up. I think people just do not want to accept that and they will fight someone because they really believe in that when if they would just wake up and see the things that I see I feel like it may be beneficial to turn 10. As of right now I've already uninstalled the game and I just got my reimbursement today I will never play this game ever again.

I have a video coming out on this in a few days, but I am honestly impressed. I've been using my G920 for the game on my PC, and it feels good, like stupidly good for Forza? It's nowhere near the level of ACC or Iracing, but that "washy" "understeery" feel that FM7 has is not there anymore thank god.

I haven't raced in controller but I have been racing on my fanatec base. After you adjust the terrible default settings ffb and physics are actually quite good. Feels very nice. Some little things I hope they will end up patching but the game has been very enjoyable and has managed to pull me off iracing for yhe time being.

Playing qualifier matches with a friend, he brake checks me. Game gives me a 4 second penalty. Take revenge and nascar him next corner. proceeds to finish first with a two second lead. End up 6th with a 7 second penalty and a safety rating of E. worth it.

This grading system needs to make it easier. As of today 10/17 the upgrades are 25 for max upgrades. This was my biggest problem with this game. 25 is easy and doesnt take long. Maybe an hour to get to level 25. ❤❤🎉🎉. I bet they will give you more car points in the future.

@VintageMatthews still only seeing low lap count races in every video i watch iam very confused about this tbh i do not count a 4 or 6 lap "race" a race are there even "longer" races? low lap counts only creates havoc as everyone trying to push stupidly hard because there is no time for anything it just does not make any sense to have so many low lap count races in MP. iam very very afraid you cannot drive the car you want to because there is no event for it and that almost all races are 10 laps or less.

I had hoped that a game with “Motorsport” in the title would be more focused on race cars and the long history of motorsports as well as different types of race cars, from open wheel to sports cars and prototypes. Agreed there was a blemish on the hub cap cause by a lost Hamster that wandered onto Suzuka in 1992 during and the final lap. They haven't recreated the small indentation in the cars alloy that ultimatley cost them the championship. For this reason I cannot purchase.

I think I'm going to for now respectfully disagree with you on the upgrade system being good until I play the game next week, mainly because I personally think it isn't the right move, mainly because of how grindy it appears, and also because it takes away the freedom. Another reason I'm not a fan is the fact that the upgrades unlock in a linear way, i.e., certain upgrades being locked to certain levels. However, I do think it can be improved. Other KZbinrs have mentioned fixes like un capping the car level as well as making everything unlocked from the start, but giving us a limited amount of car points from the start to pick and choose what we want rather than being forced. Another thing that's not helping the new upgrade system is that it's also multiplayer, which means open lobby's are essentially pointless until they change it because if you want to race a certain car in a certain way, here's hoping the people you play with have unlocked the upgrades you need, Finally another improvement they should make is that duplicates of the same car should share a car level rather than currently where if you buy say another Toyota supra after the first one you've brought you have to start over again despite them being the same car. So don't get me wrong, I'm excited for other aspects of the game, the car list (Now I know there are some forza motorsport 4 cars returning, as well as the new z06) the new handling model etc but I'm still worried about the upgrade system despite what you said, hopefully that might change when I play the game, but currently I doubt it will.

I haven't driven on controller but if you have a wheel it's much better. Really good actually once you adjust the settings. Ffb and physics are hugely improved from fm7. Feels like a proper "sim-lite" like gt7

This felt more like an advertisement than an overall experience of the game. The upgrade system is a step back, lack of qualification sessions and another step back and then for the icing on the cake a majority of the fun and in your opinion stupid cars from the base game. Which just signals to me there will be a gazillion DLC for this with those cars. I don't have too high hopes but that's what I understood from this video.

Everything but customization I can gel with. Lack of wheel selection and using cp instead of credits is dumb. Like I want to upgrade my suspension before touching anything else but no..got to do 2 Hours of racing before that unlocks..they keep using the same wheels on every game and even excluded some of the ones i liked from previous motorsports or even fh5. no offset chioces either. wheels are what make the cars look agressive and If theres no aggressive fitment then its just daily drivers going down the track with an anime livery 💀

The best way I can describe Forza Motorsport. It is, by far, the biggest pile of dog doo doo that had smiling from ear to ear. If I were to recommend this game, it definitely depends on the way you approach it. If you’re in it for the single player, then I am so sorry. This is definitely not the game for you. The upgrade system sucks, the campaign is bland and boring. Everything feels like a grind fest and you almost get no sense of accomplishment whatsoever. There are far better games out there, go check them out. If you’re in it for the multiplayer, well GOOD NEWS! This is by far the best multiplayer experience I think I’ve had on any Forza game. This is (almost) everything we’ve been asking for. Although the penalty system definitely needs work done to it, and they also need to fix the performance issues so it doesn’t crash every time I hop on a session. And maybe adding in some more lobbies and events would be nice too. However, I can confidently say, this is something anyone can enjoy. Do I think it’s worth almost $100? Probably not, but if you have game pass, and have been wanting a good online experience from an easy to pick racing game, this is the game for you. 4.5/10

So after listening to your video and a few others with review copies, there is a good game under it but the upgrade system is utter crap. I get trying to get ownership of cars, but at some point if I have to spend hours driving a car to unlock everything on the car that is no fun. To me the car ownership is the fun of driving the car once its upgraded and being able to race it and post times with it, much like my own pride of buying and upgrading my own personal vehicle. To me a sensible fix I think was in older FM1 or FM2 where you had to level up as a driver to unlock the upgrades or certain ones were, but it wasn't hard to say hit level 50 as a driver you had everything, then it came down to the credits you had in the game to upgrade and the PI system wa the limiting factor not how many points you earned by driving your car in circles for hours. I will give this game a shot but, I fear FM8 (even though they are trying to reset the series) will face a death similar to FM7 with some stuff being half baked.

The AI go out on track during practice and I'm pretty sure their times are recorded. Can you not compare your time in practice and set challenge the grid accordingly to emulate qualifying?

I will say this looks a good game. Like the inclusion of a penalty system for both single and multiplayer, and the practice session to get to grips with the track, as well as a nice variety of circuits; I am sure they will provide more as updates/DLC. But I also agree with the criticism of the failure to involve a qualifying system - getting to decide where to begin on the starting grid is pretty much like a cheat of sorts; players need to see how they fared against others before they begin. Overall, not a bad looking title. Look forward to seeing what vehicles are made available!
