@enzochiroi66783 жыл бұрын
If towing is what you need then the 6.2 offers 13.3k lbs of tow rating. Do the math. If fuel economy is what you need and you tow light loads up to 6000 lbs, then the diesel will save you bucks in fuel economy. If it’s the fun factor you desire, then you must buy the 6.2. Enough said.

@upshifter53163 жыл бұрын
Your dealership is full of it. I run Auto 4wd in my f150 full time (can’t utilize the power unloaded without it). Yes it’s extra wear on Some components but the clutches inside the transfer case operate in similar principle to clutches in the center diffs of awd cars that have been around for years. Difference is you have your front hubs engaged and front cvs spinning in A4wd, so theoretically those would wear faster. But tcase is built for it. Maybe change fluid more frequently if used a lot. If you have issues from using it and the owners manual doesn’t forbid it (why offer features that shouldn’t be used??), then if the dealer gives you any grief you need a new dealer.

As you mentioned, tires play a huge role in vehicle performance. So if you want to compare the different vehicles, they should all have the same tires! If you want to do a tire comparison, then you repeatedly use the same vehicle with different tires. Tfl do a video on 4 auto ..transfer case is not actually locking like traditional transfer cases..it’s pretty much all time auto in 4x4..am I correct.??
@daniels27613 жыл бұрын
No. As posted elsewhere, when in 4hi, the function is exactly like a traditional transfer case, it is fully locked. Even in 4auto, the system is capable of ramping up to a full lock if needed. Obviously, in high slip scenarios it is best to just keep it in 4hi or 4lo.
@dadventuretv25383 жыл бұрын
No. Auto splits the torque to the wheels depending on the system. Some more front, some more rear, some more 50/50 with the ability to change that as slip is detected. Now some do not have the capability to lock the center diff electronically, all they can do is supply torque as computer senses it is needed, although now days some use brakes to stop spinning wheel(s) to force torque to wheel(s) with grip. These are AWD. But a full time four wheel drive system, while also also having an open center diff for normal driving to avoid binding in turns, can lock the center diff electronically when it detects slips to force 50% to the front and 50% to the rear and then unlock it as soon as slip is gone. So it can give it temporary, as needed, true four wheel drive. When it does this it is no different than you manually locking the center diff or, in a part time system, putting it into 4 Hi. Now most systems also allow you to manually do this by having a 4Hi that you can manually put it in. As I stated, all this does is lock the center diff for 50 front and 50 rear. BUT, and this is a big but, a full time four wheel drive system will unlock the center diff as soon as the slip is gone, whereas if you manually select 4 Hi, the center diff is locked until you take it out of 4 Hi. There are plusses and minuses to both systems. Full time four wheel drive systems are much better for regular driving because they can give you true four wheel drive as needed- in regular driving usually you are going through sections of low grip and hi grip, and in a part time four wheel drive system there is no way you will be manually going into and out of 4 Hi each time. Meaning you are driving often when four wheel drive would be helpful, but you’re not using it, whereas with full time you are in four wheel drive when needed. The downside can come in offroad driving- a full time four wheel drive system does not lock the diff until it detects slip. Some systems are better/quicker than others to engage, and sometimes you want to have the diff lock before you encounter the feature or have the slip. That is why systems that have full time four wheel drive with the ability to also manually select 4 Hi (and some 4 low too) when you want are the best- best of both worlds- for onroad driving and things like gravel roads just leave it in full time four wheel drive and let the the computer do the work as needed, but when you are having fun or working offroading, you can override it and force it into four wheel drive when you want it and force it to stay in four wheel drive until you are done. Now some of these systems can also lock the rear (usually) or front or both front and rear diffs too- some electronically when needed like it does the center diff, some also allowing you to manually lock those diffs too. This is great because you can now force torque 50/50 side to side on whatever axle is locked, as well as front to rear. Same plusses and minuses of automatics locking vs manual locking as with the center diff.

I just can't understand why such big pickups have such a low payload. Everywhere else nearly any pickup in the Ford Ranger class, which is a size smaller than the pickup featured, have around 2300lb+ payload. Most of those also tow 7700lbs, which is the maximum allowed on a European standard driving license after passing a supplementary towing driving test.
@lx51713 жыл бұрын
Stronger frame, beefy axels cost money
@J26-e6g3 жыл бұрын
The answer is in your statement. Bigger pickup. Bigger, more heavy works against the payload and towing. Bigger axels, tire weight, frame increases capacity. My 2019 LTZ 1500 has a payload of about 1,900 and towing of over 9,000. Same crew cab, but lighter engine and accessories, so it can tow and haul more. Take a 18 wheeler for example. Huge frame and 18 heavy duty wheels. HD trucks have bigger frames and tires. This is why you also need to pay attention to your tire load capacity. If you change out your tires, you could change your towing capacity.
@cjzx3253 жыл бұрын
The extra weight from the options and the offroad tuned suspension will drastically reduce payload. You can find half tons with 2000+ payload but they will be lightly optioned and most likely 2wd. My 2016 2wd F150 XLT Crewcab has 2100 lbs of payload capacity.

Doesn't matter. Nearly all of the 2019, 2020, and 2021 1/2 tons are having major issues. Look up "cranks but won't start" plus the year and model of your truck. Mine started it yesterday after 2000 miles. I'm trading for a Tundra today. Should have never left Toyota in the first place.

Does the GMC have any type of locking differential?

Mark. Rear axle comes with G80 locker.

@@panthermartin7784 I would assume computer, not a manual? I would like to get a truck with 4auto / 4high / 4low / locking differential. This combination seems to be hard to find? Going through all your videos

G80 locks and unlocks automatically , I have had several, work perfectly, never an issue.
