if you guys notice, armin got 3 or 4 different setlist he played for different crowd. more big room/commercial set list for festival mainstages, more sing a long set for mixed festival with other musicians that are not only a DJ, and the last one is when he played on ASOT. But if you're one of the people who are lucky enough to ever see him performed LIVE , you'll agree that his setlist is a masterpiece. regardless which set he played, it's always full of emotions and souls. it's like reading a beautiful novels where he took you on a unique journey everytime. the ideas of "Basic Mixing" , that he performed and what we breakdown here shows that in the DJ world, it's good to have a good mixing technique , but it doesn't mean it's always the best. it's all about the whole journey you tell to your audiences through your whole set.

In fairness, I did this breakdown mostly due to demand. His show here in Manila some years ago was an absolute experience beyond anything else! Skill wise, he's okay. Production wise (music and shows), he's probably one of the top dogs out there!

Armin is the reason I first got into trance,his music has more soul than any other genre. He’s not the best technical dj out there, it’s his productions and work ethic that takes him to the next level. I have a lot to be grateful for listening to his music since the mid nineties
@iDrumGod3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the music itself and excellent song selection is enough to put on a great show without the need to show off with filters, effects, and backspins/scratching. Depends on the sub-genre I guess. But I personally think that knows when music sounds fantastic enough that it doesn’t need to be changed is a necessary skill for a DJ to have.

Hey carlo! I have to questions for you: What songs can you use in your "Mix with me", do you pay gemacor how does it work? Secind question: How do you create your backspin effect? I know you use the echo effect but when I use it, it is just repeated in sequences and not smooth.
@DJTeddyJetts3 жыл бұрын
Shorten your echo parameters to half beat or quarter beat. The reason you back spin is doing a repeat echo is because you are likely setting your echo to 1 full beat or 2 beats.
@djcarlo3 жыл бұрын
Teddy's pretty right there! Make sure the echo is set to either ½ or ¼, as a full beat will really cause feedback in the worst way. Also, none of my Mix with Me videos are monetized, so that's how they stay up.

Oh man! I'm so happy I inspired you to DJ! And as to VDJ vs others, it really comes down to preference. I use Rekordbox and Serato because I'm more familiar with them. Likewise for Traktor, because I started with that program. I've heard though that VDJ really improved their product lately, but I just haven't used it.

As a Muso, This is the first time ive actually watched a whole DJ "implementation" Vid. It was Straight to the point, With the such talked about technique.. Backed up by your own examples. To Add, I was Armins driver for a few days in Sydney , a few years back... Absolutely Top Bloke.

That's awesome Matt! Dang, the stories you could probably tell from your time with Armin. And I'm really happy you enjoyed the video; just went with what examples and techniques I could break down.

@@djcarlo awesome. Even if a DJ is not into the music he plays - he/she can learn a lot from EZ's skills. I look forward to that video Carlo. Your teaching skills are professional with your professional video productions.
