I'm a huge Frank Shamrock fan...but the first modern well rounded MMA guy was Marco Ruas. Frank's genius is that he was both the world class well rounded champion athlete AND HE AND HIS TEAM WORKED OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME THE PROPER WAY TO TRAIN FOR NHB AND MMA. This? Was absolutely everything. Everyone...including Ruas and Ken Shamrock...was trying to crack the "well rounded MMA athlete training code"...but Frank and The Alliance...with Maurice Smith and the Japanese killer T.K. Tsuyoshi Kosaka...did it first. The man was a training innovator and genius in every regard including nutrition [ which he modified from bodybuilding and pro sports ], a marketing maven, authentic groundbreaking well rounded MMA champion, etc.

Love the content! Couple of suggestions/ideas: Could you put a little win-loss-draw counter at the bottom of the videos? That updates as you move through their history? It’d be cool to easily tell during a given moment what the fighter’s record was at the time. Likewise, could you put a date on the fights as you recap? Also, an idea for a video series that I would love to see from KK is a history of the belts, the fights that founded them, and then each title match. It would be awesome to see the evolution of a weight class through the history of its champions. Wonderful, insightful commentary and history, Kiiyon. Thank you for your content.

I gained mad respect for Frank when I recently watched a video biography of him. If you take away his athletic accomplishments he will still be a goat of a man for for his life accomplishments beyond the sport. Not only is Frank a great ambassador of the sport of MMA he is a great motivational speaker who speaks from experience of life’s tribulations. It is a short video but well worth the time.

Andrei Arlovski was one of my favorite fighters of all time. Amazing in his prime, but with a sharp downfall. Absolute knockout monster when he had the bushy hair and fangs on his mouth guard. Would love to see him on "How good was he really"

Frank never decided to retire after the Tito fight. He had a retirement clause in his contract so by publically announcing his retirement he nullified his UFC contract. Also he did commentary while he was champion. He actually commentated at UFC 17 when he fought Horn. The UFC didn't air the fight though and saved it for a rerun pay for view A Night of Champions instead. As far as Franks greatness in the UFC, he far surpassed Ken in accomplishment, sadly not in popularity. Frank was champion when the sport was still in the NHB phase and had Sen John McCain trying to get it banned in the US. Ken had left for WWF(now WWE) when McCain started his crusade against the UFC which greatly increased his popularity and lent itself to some revisionist history about Kens early stint in the UFC as he reinvented himself as the worlds most dangerous man. Ken never won a UFC tournament, and yet he is from the tournament era. Ken benefitted greatly from his look. Ken looked like what people thought a tough guy should look like. Thats why there was enough interest in a second Ken and Royce fight that the UFC created the "superfight", their first non tournament fight. It certainly wasn't because the first fight was competitive, it wasn't. And it wasn't because Ken and Royce were both UFC champions. Royce was 3x champion while Ken had lost in his first tournament attempt and injured out in his second. Also worth nothing he injured out in his last UFC tournament. Kens biggest accomplishment in the UFC is beating a green Dan Severn.

Really enjoyed the Shamrock bros videos. Great analysis. Despite their past problems, I hope they're in good terms and get remembered for their accomplishments and contributions to the American MMA coummunity.

Thanks a lot Kiiyon for making this video! I have been a fan of both Shamrock brothers tho mostly Frank's after a couple of Ken's stupid ordeals! That being said I didn't know that Frank was adopted, honestly I thought he and Ken looked a lot alike anyway I agree 100% that Frank Shamrock should be in the Hall of Fame honestly if anyone's in there why not Frank though I don't keep up with the Hall of Fame members but if his brother Ken is in it after the bullshit he's pulled and Frank isn't then maybe it's time that the fans of MMA do something about it I think if we all decided to not purchase anymore pay per views or tickets to fights maybe just maybe those in charge would understand exactly who it is that really gets to say who's in and who isn't because Frank Shamrock 1000000% deserves to be in the Hall of Fame
