How Good Was SummerSlam 2021?

After 4 days in Las Vegas, a grand old time, and having a little bit too much fun I am back. Summerslam was an amazing time, I enjoyed the show but something really felt missing. It had a Wrestlemania-like feel but in my opinion, it didn't really deliver to the level it should have. WWE put an emphasis on moments rather than moving forward. The Bianca Belair situation was a wasted opportunity and the main event was a little bit less than expected.

Lesnar's return overshadowed Becky's. What started off with pure excitement turned into anger, because she had been out for 18 months, and squashed the woman who had been hyped up as the future of the division. It was an overall solid show though. I think people are being too negative about it, but it was definitely enjoyable to say the least. 8/10, but then again, that's just my opinion.

To me SummerSlam isn’t a PPV I’ll go back and watch. To me it was a 4/10 matches felt quick and rushed. WWE built a new star in Bianca for the past year just to make her lose in 27 seconds to a terrible rock bottom. Only thing that came out of SummerSlam was Rollins vs Edge and Roman vs Cena and Lesner returning.

Edge vs seth Rollins was the best thing of the entire show. Overall, the event suffered because of Becky's horribly booked return, segments that weren't needed and the hype being removed from the main event(we all knew Roman isn't leaving wwe anytime soon). Props to edge and rollins for carrying the ppv.

man, seeing John Cena on my TV again was awesome.the main event was really good with some good near falls. I popped hard when Brock Lesnar return and hugged my brother in excitement. Edge and Seth killed it! (in a good way). can't say the same with majority of the matches they were decent to say. US championship match was solid. women's stuff was just...bad..happy that Becky was back but the ending was bad. and just alot of filler matches and moments that made me cringe. but overall a decent show 6.5/10 ppv.

Dude it always happens, in both match between cena and reigns, reigns dominates in starting 3-4 minutes, then cena dominates from middle to last, and in last reigns still kicks out, and in last just in one spear, cena gets pinned, that's so stupid ending, both time they did same, if cena had to lose that match then they should make cena lose by submission (by fading) like they did with drew McIntyre

With the Becky win, it has been reported that it was a Vince and Becky call. As in the match was a Vince's call but the heel turn was Becky's idea. Due to Becky wanting to be the "Top Heel going forward". I don't how it's going to play out as in, is it going to be a proper heel turn or is it going to be a Summerslam 2018 "heel turn"?.

As somebody who hasn’t watched WWE in at least half a decade I had fun with some of the matches. The Damian Priest match was really good, the Mysterios vs the USOs was a massive wave of nostalgia and it was so crazy to see Rey do the carried DDT again, the Rollins vs Edge match was awesome-Pat Mcafee is one *HELL* of an announcer. Becky Lynch returned but I missed basically her whole career so I didn’t get too much from that-which made it even more of a dud when she just squashed Bianca Belair who based on the videos and stuff they showed warier seemed like she was on top of the World, and then boom squashed. I mean, it was a good move and all by Becky but it felt like that shoulda been a “barely kick-out” typa thing. But the crowd seemed to like it tho. After Charlotte won the title I took a look at how many she won, thinking it’d probably be something like 5, 7 tops. Come to find out she’s a fucking *TWELVE TIME CHAMPION.* Like I get that her dad is Ric Flair and that makes it inevitable she’ll break his record one day in the women’s division-but why would it be so soon? Idk, that really threw me off. The Seth be Edge Rollins match was *AMAZING,* but once Goldberg came back out I turned off the phone. I mean…I would’ve loved this 15 years ago, but at this point nobody wanted to see Goldberg. And that’s coming from me, who’s only heard of the terrible match he had with the Undertaker.

Way too much filler and even with 4 hours to work with alot of the matches still felt way too short. Like Jinder vs Drew. All that time building it up for a 3 minute squash match? Really? Like if they took out Bliss vs Eva which I don't think anyone actually wanted to see as well as pointless segments like the Nakamura thing and The Miz and Morrison thing the show wouldve been a lot more fulfilling. Also what happened with Becky was awful. But the last bit of this show was really enjoyable especially Rollins vs Edge. And we got to see Cena wrestle Roman Reigns in a great match plus Brock finally came back. Edge vs Rollins and the main event were the only things worth seeing on this show besides Priest vs Sheamus which was excellent. Everything else was either boring or too short to reach its potential.

I think Edge should win MITB 2022 and cash in on John Cena after he gets his US Title from Austin Theory. Then set up a renewed feud between Edge and John Cena. This time for the US Title with Edge being the heel and Cena being the baby face. Cena then beats Edge and Edge faces Austin Theory for the number 1 contenders spot for the US title. Where in return Theory beats Cena clean. This could set up for Judgement Day To attack Austin Theory to set up for a 2 matches. Austin Theory & John Cena Vs. Damien Priest & Finn Balör w./ Rhea Ripley managing and a future opportunity for The United States Champion Austin Theory to defend his championship to Damien Priest.

I was thinking this show was disappointing mainly because of punk but also I think the big matches were a little short or had the wrong finish. Edge and Rollins, I don't hate that it ended in submission i just thought it was too sudden. Reigns and Cena, again the ending just came out of nowhere, I know they are making Roman look strong but one spear takes down Cena... that was one disappointing "Summer of Cena". But I hope Bianca and Becky have one great rivalry that makes me forget that squash match.

I thought the main event was great, although predictable. The only thing that would've made Roman look more strong is if Cena would have hit more moves on him to have him kick out of. Other than that, I'm basically getting tired of seeing Brock return to challenge Roman and visa versa. I mean it was okay to see him come back, just not as Universal championship contender fighter the moment he arrives. He gets paid more than any wrestler to be there, might as well just go in for other championships first. Have those achievements under your name.
